Oral Cancer Awareness Month Spurs Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry to Share Important, Lifesaving Tips

(PRWEB) April 25, 2013

Steven D. Spitz, DMD, founder of Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, wants to save lives and increase awareness during Aprils oral cancer awareness month. According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, oral cancer causes over 8,000 deaths yearly, killing roughly one person per hour, 24 hours a day. Historically, the death rate associated with oral cancer is particularly high due to this type of cancer being routinely discovered late in its development. To increase awareness and help put an end to this deadly cycle, Dr. Spitz is sharing specific warning signs to look for.

Nearly 42,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or pharyngeal cancer this year. An oral cancer check should be a routine part of every hygiene visit, said Dr. Steven Spitz of Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment are absolutely the key to survival and recovery.

Z Aesthetic Dermatology & Atlas Dermatology to Share Office Space

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (PRWEB) May 21, 2013

Dermatology is a specialty that has certainly changed over the last 20 years. Once a specialty of diagnosing mystery rashes and removing unwanted growths, the field has blossomed into the cosmetic treatment of the baby boomers and then some. With this expansion, dermatologists have had the choice to focus their expertise or attempt the challenge of providing both. The husband and wife team of Dr. Trent Massengale and Dr. Ann Zedlitz offer their patients the best of both worlds.

Dr. Massengale first met his wife in medical school. He became interested in dermatology after a lecture on how to diagnose medical problems such as diabetes by the changes in the patient's skin. His love of riddles and photography fit the specialty perfectly with the challenging cases and their visual nature. Upon finishing his residency, he assumed the position of site director for the LSU dermatology teaching program where he is a clinical professor. Besides diagnosing and treating various rashes, the surgical removal of benign and malignant skin lesions is another part of his specialty that he enjoys. You use knowledge that you learned not only in medicine but physics, geometry, and sculpture.

Dr. Zedlitz has a different day at the office. Although also a board certified dermatologist, she spends her day helping her patients look and feel their best by offering the latest in cosmetic dermatology. Using her knowledge of anatomy and the aging process, she develops personalized game plans for patients to reverse the changes of father time and bring back their healthy skin. She has a vast knowledge of skin care products and has developed her own custom line. She offers to her patients a full complement of procedures designed to help from the inside to out including: botox and filler injections, skin tightening procedures, fat reduction with coolsculpting, chemical peels, and her favorite, lasers. She currently oversees the laser clinic for the LSU dermatology training program. I love to teach residents. I feel that education is vital to ensure the safe delivery of these treatments. With the lax laws in our state on who can perform these procedures, I have to make sure that they are the best.

Dr. Ann Zedlitz and Dr. Massengale will be sharing office space at Dr. Massengale's location for his new private practice, Atlas Dermatology. They will share office space in both Baton Rouge and Prairieville. With the medical and surgical aspects of his practice and the cosmetic services of his wifes practice, Z Aesthetic Dermatology, they will offer patients the best of both worlds.

Although they may seem to be opposite practices, they do share common ground when it comes to patient care. After practicing medicine for longer than a decade, you come to value the real treasure of being a physician which are the relationships that you form with your patients, Dr Zedlitz explained. Focused on customer service and exceeding expectations, they feel that the greatest achievement is for a patient to recommend a friend or family member to their practice. That is when you know you have done your job well.

BobbyGlam Hair Extensions Share Their Favourite Winter Hair Care Products with Clients

California (PRWEB) December 12, 2012

Bobbyglam hair extensions share their favourite winter hair care products and top tips with clients to help protect their hair during the colder months.

Stylists at BobbyGlam say that the harsh winter months can wreak havoc with hair, draining it of life and drying it out, leaving hair dull and lifeless or causing it to frizz up. BobbyGlam have carefully selected winter hair care products to help with these hair woes.

Moisturising hair shampoo and conditioner are essentials for the beauty routine for the colder months; BobbyGlam say that Tigi Bed Head Urban Antidotes Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for rejuvenating hair this winter.

This shampoo and conditioner combo contains Turbo Hydration molecules for an instant moisture hit. These are also sulphate free so they are kind to sensitive skin and dry scalps.

BobbyGlam stylist, Sammy, said: This Tigi Urban Antidotes duo is great for taming, hydrating and nourishing your hair this winter to give it a silky soft and shiny finish, which is just what you want when the weather isnt so great!

She continued: Bed Head Urban Antidotes shampoo and conditioner also have a gorgeous tropical scent which will bring back happy holiday memories and leave your hair smelling amazing!

BobbyGlam advise clients not to over style their hair with heat tools this winter as this can cause damage to the hair cuticles which can, in turn, create more frizz. Its important to use a good quality heat protection treatment to protect the hair before heat styling, but using a smoothing styling product can also help.

The BG stylists have selected the Tigi S Factor Silky Smooth Moisture Serum as one of their favourite winter hair care products; the S Factor Silky Smooth Moisture Serum doubles up as a heat protector: it helps to protect hair from heat and environmental damage whilst adding moisture, smoothing the cuticle, and creating a smooth and shiny finish.

Limp hair can also be another winter woe, so BobbyGlam recommend using a root boost product to inject some volume.

Sammy said: We might wrap up with hats and scarves this winter which can unfortunately leave hair a bit limp and lank, so using a root booster is the perfect solution. We recommend the Tigi Catwalk Your Highness Root Boost Spray to create some extra volume. Youll love it!

To tackle the issue of dull hair and split ends this winter, BobbyGlam recommend that clients try the Tigi S Factor Wonderful Tonight Overnight Treatment. This overnight miracle winter hair care product contains Keravis which is proven to triple the strength of damaged hair. This Tigi S Factor product intensely moisturises the hair which makes it perfect for winter.

BobbyGlam recommend working a small amount of S Factor Wonderful Tonight into dry hair, concentrating on the ends of the hair and on dry areas, before going to bed. The next morning, clients should rinse, shampoo, and condition hair as normal.

Sammy said: This S Factor Overnight Treatment is a little gem for the winter months; it literally does all the work while you sleep! Its perfect for revitalising dry and damaged hair whilst helping to control frizz and pesky fly-aways ... which is always good news!

BobbyGlams chosen winter hair care products can be seen on the online store along with hair extension products, vintage hair accessories, hair tools, and vintage jewellery.

Beauty Expert Paula Begoun and the Paula's Choice Research Team Share Tips on How Women Can Give Their Skin More Antioxidants for a Youthful Glow

Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) December 28, 2012

Antioxidants are an absolute must for radiant, smooth, younger looking skin. Whether part of a well balanced diet or applied topically, antioxidants can help the complexion. Internationally known beauty expert Paula Begoun and her Paulas Choice Research Team share tips on how women can give their skin more antioxidantswithout spending a lot of money.

A key tip: Dont focus on one miracle antioxidant touted by a cosmetics company. There are so many great antioxidants, and when used in combination they help skin look and act younger, while also repairing damage. Just like a diet, eating one food with antioxidants, like grapes or spinach, wont keep the body healthy and young. Likewise for skin care, when women get caught up in the search for the best antioxidants, it almost certainly guarantees they wont end up using the best products. With this in mind, here are five easy ways to add more antioxidants to any skin-care routine:

Short Documentaries Share Messages of Hope: Okuyamba, Mondays at Racine, RARE to Screen at 29th Annual Long Island Film Festival

Long Island, NY (PRWEB) February 08, 2013

Three award-winning documentary films will screen in a single block on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the 29th Annual Long Island Film Festival, being held at The Hyatt in Hauppauge, New York.

Okuyamba, the Lugandan word meaning to help, focuses on the common mission shared by a small band of palliative care nurses working tirelessly to ease the pain and suffering of AIDS and cancer patients, dying deep in the rural villages of Uganda. Filmmakers Mike Wargo and Ted Mandell take viewers deep into the forests of Uganda and offer a glimpse of the astounding challenges facing its terminally ill people. Sharing the stories of the 90 percent of the population who receive no assistance with pain or comfort during their final days, the filmmakers also capture the difference palliative care makes in the lives of those receiving it.

Released in 2012, Okuyamba has won numerous awards, including the National Hospice Foundations Inaugural Morfogen Art of Caring Award as well as awards from the Indie Fest, Best Shorts, Accolade Competition and Prestige Awards.

Every third Monday of the month, two bold, brassy sisters open the doors of their Long Island hair salon to women diagnosed with cancer. Oscar

Cosmetics Cop Paula Begoun and the Paula's Choice Team Share Tips on Cool Ways to Wear Green

Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) March 11, 2013

Kermit the Frogs famous song Its Not Easy Being Green could very well have been about the fashion faux pas of wearing vibrant green eye makeup. Any vivid eyeshadow color, from blue to red, can be a problem when not applied in a flattering way, but green is especially difficult to wear in a way that doesnt end up looking cartoonish. Yet, when worn correctly, green can look inspired and beautiful. With Saint Patricks Day right around the corner, and this months big screen return of the Emerald City in Oz the Great and Powerful, its time for some expert tips on subtle (and fun) ways to go green.

Cosmetics Cop Paula Begoun and her team, authors of the best-selling book "Dont Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me," explain how to wear a color most people dont think they can pull off.

Skin Care Products Mom & Baby Can Share

Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) May 06, 2013

New moms have it rough. Even when dad pitches in, the minute-by-minute care a baby requires leads to less sleep, more stress, and much less time to take care of personal beauty needs. Add to that the question of what to use on a babys skin and its easy to feel overwhelmed. Cosmetics Cop Paula Begoun and the Paulas Choice Research Team understand this dilemma and have come up with a carefully-selected list of gentle products that take great care of moms skinand work beautifully for babys skin, too.

The best thing a mom can do for her baby is to avoid buying skin-care products designed for babies, says Begoun. Such products are typically loaded with fragrance and dyes that their delicate skin doesnt need.

The surprising truth is that most well formulated skin-care products meant for adults can work great for babies, too; the trick is choosing those that are fragrance- and irritant-free. According to Paulas Choice Team Member Bryan Barron, Fragrance is a big problem for a babys skin. Using scented products may please a moms sense of smell, but it can make their tots sensitive, tender skin worse, not better.

A simple routine of a cleanser, moisturizer, and (after six months of age), sunscreen are all thats needed to keep skin soft and protected. Here are our top picks for products mom and baby can use:

These are great as facial cleansers for mom and head-to-toe cleansers for baby:

The Makers of Hydroxycut Share Tips for Boosting Nutrition

New York, New York (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

The makers of Hydroxycut understand that eating a nutritious, well-balanced diet is not always easy. In fact, according to a recent article published by SHAPE, many women find that the cost associated with healthy foods is one of the most prevalent barriers to a nutritious meal plan. To counteract these barriers, the article puts forth several tips to assist women in creating more healthful meals. The makers of Hydroxycut have shared these tips, citing them as wonderful complements to a well-designed weight loss strategy.

Replacing meat with beans is the first tip that the article highlights: "One can of beans, which contains 3.5 servings costs about $ 1.00 compared to $ 2.00 per pound for chicken on the bone (which is less expensive than chicken breast). Swapping black, pinto, kidney or white beans for meat in tacos, burritos, salads and whole grain pasta meals not only saves money it ups your antioxidant intake, slashes calories, wipes out saturated fat and cholesterol, and just half a cup provides a quarter of the fiber you need daily."

The makers of Hydroxycut believe that this is an essential tip for individuals who are looking to lose weight, as it is a convenient way to improve the overall quality of one's diet without having to completely overhaul a meal plan: "Beans come in so many different varieties, which makes this particular tip useful to implement. Because there are virtually endless possibilities to the meals that one can make by incorporating beans instead of meat into their diet, this is a tip that can actually accentuate a meal plan rather than make it boring and repetitive."

The other tips that the article provides include: buying produce that is in season from local farmers markets, and forgoing soda in favor of drinking more water.

Weight loss is not an easy goal to achieve, but individuals who are looking to lose weight are encouraged to adopt a well-rounded strategy that includes exercise and a nutritious diet. By following these tips, the makers of Hydroxycut know that individuals can support their weight loss efforts.
