Oral Cancer Awareness Month Spurs Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry to Share Important, Lifesaving Tips

(PRWEB) April 25, 2013

Steven D. Spitz, DMD, founder of Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, wants to save lives and increase awareness during Aprils oral cancer awareness month. According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, oral cancer causes over 8,000 deaths yearly, killing roughly one person per hour, 24 hours a day. Historically, the death rate associated with oral cancer is particularly high due to this type of cancer being routinely discovered late in its development. To increase awareness and help put an end to this deadly cycle, Dr. Spitz is sharing specific warning signs to look for.

Nearly 42,000 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or pharyngeal cancer this year. An oral cancer check should be a routine part of every hygiene visit, said Dr. Steven Spitz of Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment are absolutely the key to survival and recovery.

Probiotic Action Comments on the New Use of Probiotics for Oral Health and Shares New Insight What It Means for the Growing US Probiotic Market

Miami, FL (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

The recent news from the Wall Street Journal gave information on an up and coming probiotic for oral health which was disclosed last week in a private seminar in New York City. A leading probiotic and antibiotic manufacturer was behind the news.

Spokesman, Fernando Perez of Probiotic Action explains why this is exciting news for the Probiotic Community, and gives industry insight on how it will effect the US market:

Any growth of probiotics for health care is a testament to the natural power of probiotics for wellbeing. The multiple uses of probiotic for everything from adult acne treatments, to yogurt and chocolate, toothpaste, and ingested supplements seems to be growing everyday. As for the consumer who feels that probiotics are just a trend, they will be surprised to see the tiny bacteria popping up in products nationwide very soon.

As for the US market, Probiotic Action predicts that the increased attention of probiotic uses will not only create a better educated and healthy consumer, but will also create attention from those seeking to enter the market with false claims.

In Europe many are being persecuted for false claims of having probiotics in products and the benefits they have. For the US, make sure that anyone claiming to have probiotics in their product mentions that they are not approved by the FDA, as many types of probiotics and their benefits are still being tested everyday, adds Perez.

Probiotic Action is an advanced acne treatment that uses Probiotics for acne containing the good bacteria that is naturally found on healthy human skin. By using probiotics, Probiotic Action is an effective acne treatment that restores the normal bacteria content on skin. Probiotic Action will successfully clear skin when used as an adult acne treatment while protecting skin against bad bacteria, free radicals, and pollutants*.

Robert Beckelman DMD PLLC Introduces Oral Cancer Screening for Early Detection at Valley Stream, NY Dental Office

Valley Stream, NY (PRWEB) May 14, 2013

Dr. Robert Beckelman recently introduced a new oral cancer screening procedure at his Valley Stream, NY dental office that is helping patients detect this condition earlier than ever possible with a simple in-office test. More than 8,000 people die each year from oral cancer, however if caught early enough, it is one of the most curable forms of cancer. This new procedure offered by Dr. Beckelman allows patients the best chance at survival if diagnosed with the disease.

More than 30,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with some form of throat or oral cancer each year, and unbeknownst to many, this disease has a higher death rate than many other cancers including skin cancer, brain cancer, cervical cancer, and liver cancer, amongst others. Oral cancer screenings during dental visits is one of the most effective ways to combat this disease.

My entire treatment philosophy is based on prevention, said Dr. Robert Beckelman of Valley Stream, NY. Education is a life-long endeavor, and I am dedicated to learning the most current ways to help my patience achieve optimal dental health. Introducing this new oral cancer screening is a big part of that commitment.

The Identifi oral cancer screening system uses multi-spectral technology to identify morphological and biological changes in the mouth, tonsils, tongue and throat that can be indicative of oral cancer. These signs are often missed by the naked eye, which is why new screening technology is so vital for diagnosis. The Identifi screening is non-invasive, and is a simple oral instrument that uses white light to inspect the mouth. If lesions are found, fluorescent and amber light is used to determine if they are cancerous. This procedure can easily be done in conjunction with regular dental exams.

In addition to his emphasis on preventative dentistry, Dr. Robert Beckman and his staff in Valley Stream, NY are also highly experienced in restorative dentistry and orthodontics, treatments for TMJ disorder, sleep apnea and neuromuscular dentistry. Patient reviews of Dr. Beckelman and his staff are outstanding, and report high satisfaction with the level of care and comfort they receive during each visit.

Dr. Beckelman completed his dental education at Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his dental residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, nearby his home town of North Woodmere. Dr. Beckelman is an established member of the Dental Society of the State of New York, the American Dental Association, and the Long Island Seattle Study Group.

San Clemente, CA Periodontist, Dr. Allen J. Schultz Improves Oral Health by Removing Gum Disease with Laser Surgery Before Placing Dental Implants

San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2013

Periodontist Dr. Allen Schultz now offers the use of a new laser gum disease treatment to improve a patients readiness for receiving dental implants. Patients have higher success with their implants when gum disease is removed, and now there is a less invasive gum surgery available that can remove diseased tissue while promoting healing.

Traditional treatments for gum disease involved general anesthetics, scalpels and long recovery periods. These methods also resulted in the loss of a large amount of healthy tissue as well as the removal of diseased gum tissue. Often the amount of gum that was removed would eliminate the option for a patient to receive an implant as there would not be sufficient tissue left to fully support the implant.

With todays new Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) technique, Dr. Schultz can treat only the diseased gum tissue, leaving all healthy tissue untouched, thereby retaining the maximum amount of tissue for improved oral health. This also allows for sufficient tissue to remain in order to support the placement of dental implants.

Aside from gum disease, a patient may often not be eligible for implants because they lack sufficient bone density in the jaw. In addition to being an effective gum disease treatment, LANAP actually stimulates the growth of new bone in the jaw, thereby creating a strong base for an implant. With the right amount of healthy soft gum tissue and strong bone, a periodontist can be assured of success in placing a dental implant.

Patients that require some treatment for a missing tooth or teeth typically choose between implants, bridges or dentures. All options have their advantages but only dental implants can provide the lifelong advantages of jawbone structure preservation as well as a lowered risk or need of repeated surgeries, as is common with bridges or dentures. With both bridges and dentures, there is nothing left in the actual jawbone to maintain overall structure and integrity so the bone actually degrades over time. This leads to a misshapen look and even sagging of the facial muscles and skin, giving an aged appearance. With successful gum disease treatment, patients can opt for implants to not only fill holes left by missing teeth but to prevent these future problems as well.
