Vascular Specialist at Salem Skin and Vein Specialists Continues to Learn the Latest Vein Treatment Approaches in Pursuit of Superior Patient Care

(PRWEB) April 15, 2013

For Phillip Moore, MD, lifelong learning is an integral part of his dedication to providing superior patient care. A vascular surgeon at Salem Skin and Vein Specialists, a leading vein treatment center in Winston-Salem, NC, Dr. Moore recently attended the 25th anniversary meeting of the American Venous Forum, and learned some of the latest advancements in vein care.

The meeting, held in Phoenix, Arizona, is one of the premier conferences for vein specialists. Vein experts from around the country and the world gathered to discuss the latest research findings and clinical advancements. Dr. Moore attended lectures on a variety of topics in venous disease, including a particularly informative talk on pelvic venous congestion. The vein surgeon also heard about the newest improvements in varicose vein and spider vein treatment, and returned to his Winston-Salem vein center with advanced knowledge he can put directly into practice to improve patient outcomes.

Based on the information presented during the meeting, I will be making several small changes in the way I treat superficial vein disease, said Dr. Moore. For example, small modifications to our procedure for venous ablation of the greater saphenous vein should help reduce the risk of DVT after the procedure.

Dr. Moore found the conference to be highly valuable and says he will be in attendance again next year as a newly inducted member in the elite society.

Newport Beach Facelift Specialist's Tips on Skin Care Before and After Surgery

(PRWEB) May 27, 2013

"Patients who take good care of their skin before and after their facelift procedure will enjoy their results for up to 10 years or longer," said Dr. Sadati. "A personalized, quality skin care regimen is essential to the long-term success of this popular cosmetic surgery procedure."

In the blog, Dr. Sadati recommends the following tips for patients who may be interested in a facelift procedure in the future:

Always protect skin that will be exposed to the elements. Sunscreen and protective clothing are essential to protecting the skin from UV Rays. Note that anyone can get sunburned on any type of day, even an overcast day that doesn't seem especially sunny.

Make a skin care analysis appointment at the first sign of aging. This is a great way to identify both environmental and genetic factors that contribute to the signs of aging. At this appointment, Dr. Sadati can create a preventative skin care regimen designed to delay the necessity of a facelift procedure for a few more years.

Dr. Sadati also offers skin care advice for patients who have recently undergone a facelift procedure:

Note that the facial skin is especially vulnerable after this particular surgery as it has just been stretched and adjusted on the face. Sunscreen should be worn at all times, especially during the days immediately following the operation.

A chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing may be the best choice for boosting the appearance of skin after a facelift procedure. These cosmetic procedures are designed to add a healthy glow to the skin, giving it a fresh and rejuvenated appearance. Many people consider this to be the best way to complete the look of any facelift.

Dr. Sadati makes it a point to evaluate each patient on an individual basis. He takes into account environmental factors as well as biological factors, creating a customized skin care plan for every facelift patient at his practice.

"Every person's skin is different, and there are many environmental factors that will contribute to the aging process such as where a person works, where they live and how often they travel to different parts of the world," Dr. Sadati said. "My goal is to make sure every skin care regimen I create meets the specific needs of the individual patient."

Ultimately, proper skin care is the best way to delay the initial signs of aging. When a facelift does become necessary, a good skin care regimen will enhance the initial results of the facelift and allow the patient to enjoy those results for many years to come. Hair Restoration Specialists in Atlanta, Georgia Helps the Development of Light Energy Technology and Its Applications in Health Care

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 28, 2013

Hair Restoration Specialists has been and continues to be proud member of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS). Last year, ASLMS awarded $ 140,000 to scientists and medical researchers who are working on important laser research projects. An astonishing $ 1.2 million in research grants have been awarded to date. Member contributions, combined with contributions from industry, subsidize the grants awarded by the Research Committee.

Hair Restoration Specialists values our membership with ASLMS, as we find this to be the best avenue for gaining scientific information on the use of lasers. ASLMS is one of the few organizations where all aspects of laser medicine are addressed, including laser safety, physics, tissue interactions, and complication management. In addition to their research fund, they have established a new Advancement of Laser Medicine Endowment Fund that will ensure their efforts to fund research will continue to make a significant difference in improving patient care and their commitment to furthering sustainable, unbiased research.

The new endowment fund honors Dr. Leon Goldman, a Founder of ASLMS. He was an editor, an author and a research extraordinaire. He was an educator whose academic progeny spans many fields and projects on an international scope. Much of the scientific foundation for medical research laser work is attributable to Dr. Goldman. He indeed will always be known as the Father of Laser Medicine.

Hair Restoration Specialists is proud to be a Research Fund Contributor at the Futurist contribution level. We truly believe in supporting the efforts of the ASLMS research program so that it may continue to offer quality research grants. We encourage all nursing/allied health professionals who are involved with lasers in any way to utilize the benefits of belonging to ASLMS.

Beverly Hills Hair Loss Specialists Q&A by Dr. John Kahen - Will I Be Bald When I'm Older?

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) June 03, 2013

#1 How can I tell if I'm losing my hair?

Unless you are losing your hair at a very rapid speed, it would be difficult to look at your hair every day to determine if you are losing your hair, since it is much more gradual. One way to tell is by looking at photos of yourself from a year ago and even two years ago. Is your hairline relatively the same or is there a noticeable change? This is a good indicator to whether or not you're losing your hair and at what rate. For men, the hair typically thins at the crown and temples, and for women the hair loss can be all over in a diffuse pattern. One of the best ways to determine if you are losing your hair is to visit a hair restoration specialist who can perform a microscopic hair and scalp analysis. The cause of hair loss is not created equal and may not always be genetic hair loss. I recommend diagnosing the hair loss first before determining what treatment option is best.

#2 When should I seek a hair loss treatment?

The best advice I can give you is to seek a hair loss treatment when you begin to notice signs of hair loss, even in the earlier stages - because the earlier you start a treatment, the more effective it will be at preventing future hair loss.

#3 Are there any treatments to restore hair in the temple area?

The only treatment to restore hair in the temple region of the scalp is with hair transplant surgery. A topical or medical hair loss treatment is designed to prevent and treat hair loss in the crown areas and the back of the scalp but would most likely not have any effect in the temple regions. The good news is - hair transplant surgery is a specialized procedure where your own hair is transplanted and it's one of the only permanent solutions. Now more than ever before, hair transplant surgeons have acquired a speciality in hairline artistry that is truly innovative and provides patients with natural results and an undetectable hair transplant.

See hair restoration before and after photos.

#4 How do I know if I will be bald when I'm older?

Truthfully, we will all lose hair as we age because it's part of the aging process and is inevitable. We may not all lose our hair the same way but over time as we age our hair does become thinner and finer. This is why beginning a hair loss treatment in the earlier stages of hair loss is so crucial to preventing thinning as you age. Will you be bald when you're old? This is a question that can only be answered if I were able to see the patient in person to see the pattern of their hair loss thus far. But a good rule of thumb is if you find yourself worrying about your hairline, the time to start a treatment is now.

Patients Migraines Disappear after Remarkable Gastric Sleeve Procedure Performed by Dr. Nilesh Patel of Texas Bariatric Specialists

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) April 23, 2013

Dr. Nilesh A. Patel of Texas Bariatric Specialists is pleased to announce that the extraordinary bariatric surgery procedure of a gastric sleeve performed on Heather Durand of Del Rio, TX was such a success that Heathers frequent migraines have dramatically decreased and she is completely off her migraine medication. Additionally, drinking 80 ounces of Dr. Pepper a day didnt seem strange to Heather Durand. She was accustomed to drinking two Route-44 drinks full of Dr. Pepper a day without a second thought. As a child, her metabolism kept her thin but her fail-proof metabolism didnt work forever and, after having two sons, her weight ballooned to 272 lbs. Feeling depressed, she began diet and exercise programs to lose the weight, but after many failed attempts at both weight watchers online and face to face, working out, and rationing her food portions, she gave up.

At 272 lbs, Heather began to stop caring about her weight. It took her 6 months of feeling depressed and unattractive before she began searching for different weight loss options. A few good friends of hers had decided on bariatric surgery, and all were very pleased with their surgeon, Dr. Patel. I know I was meant to have surgery with Dr. Patel, Heather recalled. After going to her Primary Care Physician, he also referred her to Dr. Patel without her even mentioning his name! She decided there was no reason to research any other Bariatric Surgeons; she knew it was meant to be.

Attending the free weight loss seminar was very helpful. Heather spoke with Dr. Patels PA-C, James Houston, at the seminar. Together, they decided the best bariatric surgery procedure for her would be a Gastric Sleeve because shed be able to continue eating one of her favorite foods venison. That was the deciding factor, Heather laughs, being able to still eat deer meat. When she met Dr. Patel, she was very pleased that he trusted James Houstons decision for the Gastric Sleeve Procedure. Dr. Patel was very competent and he had a lot of faith in James. She also was convinced a Gastric Sleeve was the best bariatric surgery for her because she needed a personal drill sergeant in my body. The Sleeve would help her overcome sugary snacks and her favorite unhealthy craving Dr. Pepper.

Throughout the entire pre-operative process, Heather was very confident that this procedure was right for her. The only time I was worried was when I was hooked up to the IV at the hospital, but I fell asleep so quickly that there was no chance to rethink it. Now, post-bariatric surgery, Heather agrees that getting the Gastric Sleeve was the, best thing Ive done in my life! No longer does she indulge on Dr. Pepper, and her body now craves crystal light and water, and she has dropped 18 pant sizes. My entire family is benefitting from my surgery, Heather says. She has created more structure in her familys eating routine and their entire diet has improved.

Finally, after losing a large amount of weight, Heathers frequent migraines declined dramatically. She used to take migraine medications and learned from her Neurologist that weight loss reduces migraines. Today, she is completely off her migraine medication. Heather even enjoys shopping for new clothes and looking in the mirror. I used to have long hair to hide my full face, but now I cut it off to show off my cheekbones, she says. I feel like me again!

Texas Bariatric Specialists is Ecstatic to Announce that a Gastric Bypass Surgery Performed by Dr. Nilesh Patel Cures Man of Diabetes Symptoms

San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

Dr. Nilesh A. Patel of Texas Bariatric Specialists (TBS) announced today that patient, David Cruz, has achieved his ultimate goal of becoming a healthier version of himself. Gastric Bypass Surgery has rid him of all diabetes and high blood pressure symptoms with the assurance of keeping his health for the sake of not only himself, but his parents.

David Cruzs struggle with weight started when he was diagnosed with severe asthma at age 5. Even though he always tried to stay active by participating in football and basketball, he was still overweight. Once it was time for David to go to college, he started gaining weight rapidly because he didnt have family or friends around to tell him that what he was putting into his body was not good for his health. He wasnt a big breakfast person nor cooked his own food, so he would go all day without eating and then binge on junk food at night.

The constant binge-eating lead to David being diagnosed with type II diabetes and high blood pressure. At the young age of 21, he was put on the highest dosage of medicine for his conditions and began having problems with his pancreas. At this point, David was scared. There is no reason why I should be this unhealthy, he said, I dont want to not be able to take care of myself. On top of this scare was the thought of his parents rough medical history. Thinking about his Dads diabetes and high blood pressure and his Moms muscle disease, David started looking up ways to cure his own diabetes and weight loss surgery came up as an option. I have to make sure I am healthy for my parents, David said.

Before making the decision to find himself a weight loss surgeon, David tried many alternative methods to losing the weight including the Adkins Diet, various weight-loss pills, and eating a lot of salads. Nothing was beneficial. He only succeeded in rubber-banding back and forth and gaining more weight. At this point, David knew it was time to do something more.

He researched a few weight loss surgeons and attended a few seminars before stumbling upon Dr. Patels team at Texas Bariatric Specialists (TBS). David saw Dr. Patels great track record with all the work he has done and thoroughly enjoyed his experience attending one of the TBS weight loss seminars. He felt comfortable with the staff and knew that the path to Gastric Bypass Surgery was his next step.

After the surgery, David felt immediately different. He was so full of energy that he had to ask Dr. Patel the soonest he could start running before he even left the hospital! Once he was able to start working out, David lost the weight really fast. In the first 6 months, he lost 70 lbs. and had a whole new routine. He incorporated a lot of protein bars and shakes into his diet, cut out all sodas, and didnt eat anything with added sugar.

The biggest benefit of Davids Gastric Bypass Surgery was that he never had to take medication for either of his conditions again. His diabetes and high blood pressure had subsided and he was healthy. I dont know why they dont recommend weight loss surgery instead of insulin at the Diabetes clinic, David exclaims.

As his confidence continues to soar, David concludes with this point, The goal in life is to be healthy. Physical appearance is just a bonus. People need to look at weight loss from a point of view other than vanity. I mean, who doesnt want to be healthy?!
