Beauty Research Reveals Six Secrets for Creating Home Spa

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) March 22, 2013

Beauty Research, a beauty blogging web site, recently revealed six steps to creating a quality spa experience at home. Many women love a trip to the spa for a facial or body treatment but professional sessions can be time consuming and expensive. The blog article contains six ideas for pampering home treatments that are natural, fast and easy. All of the home treatments involve using ingredients from the kitchen, making for an economical alternative to pricey day spas.

What do the rich and famous get to do quite often that the rest of us dont normally get to do? Well a lot of things, but one thing in particular is something we too can dojust not quite in the same way. The well-to-do get to go to spas and have regular spa treatments. But visiting spas and getting professional spa treatments is very expensive and those of us who arent quite as privileged dont typically get to go unless were given a gift certificate or allow ourselves a trip maybe once a year. The good news iswe dont have to wait for those rare occasionswe can simply treat ourselves to the pleasure right in our very own humble abode. Writes Karen of Beauty Research

Self Tanning Does the Home Spray Measure up to the Salon?

The risks of sunbathing and tanning beds are widely known. Each time you expose your skin to ultraviolet light, you're increasing your risk of developing skin cancer and potentially causing damage to your skin cells that can lead to premature aging. More and more sun worshipers are ditching the tanning bed in favor of the airbrush, and spray tanning salons are opening around the country to meet the needs of those who love the golden glow of a tan, but aren't willing to risk the health of their skin. When performed by a trained skin care professional, a spray tan produces results that are indistinguishable from a real tan. Writes Karen of Beauty Research

Energy Drinks Helpful Edge or Potential Risk?

From grocery store shelves to cocktail menus, it seems that energy drinks are everywhere. On days when I feel too drained to hit the gym or wake up so tired that coffee just won't help open my eyes, I'll admit that I've been tempted to try one of the many energy drinks on the market. It seems that for every commercial touting the benefits of these drinks, I hear a news report that cautions against their dangers. Confused by the controversy, I took some time to research energy drinks on my own to find out more. Writes Karen of Beauty Research

Project Apis m. Requests Donations for Honey Bee Research Programs

Chico, California (PRWEB) June 02, 2013

Project Apis m. a 501 (c)(5) non-profit organization is requesting donations to continue their comprehensive honey bee research programs.

Honey bees are endangered said Mary Ross of the Mohawk Valley Trading Company where they specialize in raw honey and they account for 80% of all insect pollination. Without them, there would be a dramatic decrease of fruits and vegetables worldwide.

The following projects need funding:

Dr. Reed Johnson, Ohio State, Dimilin Research, $ 134,640

This research will look at the effects of insecticide and insecticide-fungicide combinations on queen and worker larval development.

MaryAnn Frazier, Penn State, Pesticide Cost-Share Program, $ 15,000

This funding pays for half of the beekeeper's cost to run full pesticide analyses.

Dr. Brian Johnson, UC-Davis, IVDS Validation Work, $ 34,755

This study will test the utility of the integrated virus detection system (IVDS) using traditional molecular approaches.

Dr. Jonathan Engelsma, Grand Valley State University, Hive Scale Network, $ 22,140

This program will enable a national network of hive scales to be integrated into the Bee Informed Partnership (BIP's) disease & management database.

Dr. David Tarpy, NC State University, Nexcelom Vision System to process Bee Informed Partnership (BIP) samples. $ 29,480

This equipment will greatly enhance the ability to screen queens (and drones) for sperm number and viability.

TOTAL Research Funds Needed: $ 237,015

About Honey Bees

Bees are insects that are related to wasps and ants and there are approximately 20,000 known species of bees found on every continent except Antarctica. Honeybees (Apis mellifera) are not native to the United States as they were introduced by Europeans to produce honey and beeswax. Honeybees are responsible for pollinating 80% of flowering crops, and without them the worlds food supply would be dramatically reduced.

As people become more conscious of the important role that honeybees play in their daily lives, beekeeping is becoming more mainstream and is now allowed in many urban and suburban municipalities. Since 2006, beekeepers in the North America and Europe have noticed a mystifying occurrence called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) in which worker bees from a beehive or European honey bee colony abruptly disappear, leaving the queen and insect larvae behind, unable to fend for themselves. While such disappearances have occurred throughout the history of apiculture, the term colony collapse disorder was first applied to a drastic rise in the number of disappearances of Western honey bee colonies in North America in late 2006.

In 2013, a formal review by the European Food Safety Authority stated that recent studies show that neonicotinoid pesticides, some of the most widely used pesticides in the world, pose an unacceptably high risk to bees, and that the industry-sponsored science upon which regulatory agencies' claims of safety have relied is flawed and possibly deliberately deceptive.

Honey has been used by humans since ancient times for its health benefits and as a sweetener and flavoring for many foods and beverages, with tea being the most popular. Next to maple syrup, it is the most commonly used natural sweetener in North America.

Honey bees make honey by collecting nectar from flowers and regurgitating it into beeswax honeycombs inside their hive. Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the hive of honey bees of the genus Apis and its most popular uses are beeswax candles and as an ingredient in natural skin care products.

The flavor and color of honey is determined by the type of flower the bees gather the nectar from; therefore, when cooking or baking with honey it is a good idea to taste the honey before using it in a recipe. For example: a dark honey like tulip poplar-black locust honey will result in a strong, heavy, pungent flavor, whereas orange blossom honey will result in a delicate orange flavor. Dark-colored honey is considered to be higher in minerals and antioxidants than light-colored honey, and one of the most well-known dark-colored honeys is buckwheat honey. Raw buckwheat honey contains a higher amount of minerals and an antioxidant called polyphenol, which gives it its dark color. The health benefits of buckwheat honey are many and well known.

The rawest honey available is comb honey which is sections of the hexagonal-shaped beeswax cells of the honeycomb that contain raw honey that have been cut from the wooden frames of a beehive.

Using raw honey is a long-term investment strategy for optimal health and personal care; the dividends are overall mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Like a blue chip stock, raw honey should be included in any health-conscious consumers immune system boosting portfolio and the return on investment of substituting honey for refined sugar in the human diet is incalculable.

Another product made by honey bees and used by humans is bee propolis; a resinous substance that honey bees collect from tree buds and bark or other botanical sources and mix with beeswax, nectar and pollen. This mixture is used by bees to seal gaps in the hive and by humans for its health benefits and as a traditional, natural or homeopathic medicine.

Five Steps for Better Skin Presented by Beauty Research

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2013

The problems that can plague modern women's faces are numerous. From signs of aging to hyperpigmentation to chronic dehydration to acne, dermatological concerns often pose ongoing beauty challenges for sufferers; however, beautiful, healthy skin is possible for all women. The latest article by the beauty blog BeautyResearch.com Five Steps for Better Skin discusses the essential steps that must be present in a skin care regimen to promote a healthy complexion.

Impurities are a major contributor to many dermatological concerns. Excess sebum can clog the pores and give rise to acne blemishes or cause the pores to stretch. The acid-base balance of the complexion plays a large role in the health of the skin. When this natural pH balance becomes disturbed, the skin can become overly dry or excessively oil. Many skin care problems from acne blemishes to hypersensitivity can be traced back to the pH of the complexion, but many women fail to realize the importance of keeping their skin balanced. In what ways can a woman personalize her skin care regimen? What types of products are the best for addressing problems like fine lines, skin discoloration and collagen loss? Moisture is essential to the health of every complexion. Without proper hydration, the complexion becomes more prone to wrinkling and can develop symptoms like flaking and redness. Every minute of the day, the effects of evaporation steal moisture from the skin tissue, making skin dehydration a common problem among women of all skin types. How can a woman replenish her skin's natural supply of moisture? When is the best time during a daily skin care regimen to address the complexion's moisture needs? Bel Marra Health Reports on New Research Revealing Food Elements to Reduce Cellulite

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) June 08, 2013

Bel Marra Health, who offers high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, reports on a new study revealing a healthy diet containing certain elements can help to reduce cellulite.

As Bel Marra Health reports in its article, (http://www.belmarrahealth.com/anti-aging/what-can-get-rid-of-that-nasty-cellulite) 80 percent of women in the western world have cellulite and many are desperate to find ways to get rid of it. There are all sorts of potions and lotions on the market that claim to help people get rid of those stubborn dimples on their thighs and buttocks. Scientists argue that there really is no quick fix. In fact, more and more experts believe that a balanced lifestyle is the best way to keep cellulite under control.

Cellulite is a dimpling or cottage cheese effect that skin displays due to the stretching of connective tissues around fat deposits. While many people believe that cellulite is associated with being overweight, research shows that even thin people can have it.

Scientists continue to study the safest and most cost-effective ways to treat cellulite. Interestingly, in recent years scientists have uncovered what they believe is a link between a nutritious diet and cellulite scores to help eliminate that bothersome appearance.

A study published in the U.S National Library of Medicine found that rubbing a spermine-trapping molecule on the thigh could help lower thigh cellulite scores. Spermine is found in a wide range of organism and tissues. It was first found in human semen, but most recently discovered in food. Ground meat, lunch meat, green peas, and cheddar cheese are good sources of food to add into a diet.

This isnt the only evidence that seems to connect diet with cellulite. An Italian study shows that a hormone known as adiponectin appears to act as protection against cellulite in the buttocks. The authors say if you want to keep levels of this hormone from dropping, the best approach is to maintain a good diet; a diet free of fried or fatty foods. Studies have demonstrated that switching to a vegetarian diet can increase adiponectin levels by as much as 19 percent.

Some medical professionals believe a diet rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties is a good way to prevent cellulite. Antioxidants prevent free radicals from weakening connective tissues that often lead to lumps and bumps in the skin. Foods that are high in antioxidants include blueberries, beans, and cranberries.

Doctor Howard Murad is one of the worlds leading experts on skin health. He recommends antioxidants to maximize skin health, including foods that contain vitamins A, C and E. He also suggests polyphenols and bioflavonoids. He calls them skin-nourishing. These nutrients can be found in leafy green vegetables, as well as fruits like oranges, pomegranates, and mangoes.

Murad and his supporters believe that dehydration can increase the appearance of cellulite. Staying hydrated and consuming foods rich in Omega-3, instead of fatty foods, can diminish the appearance of dimples. These meals might include fish, eggs, or omega-3 enriched yogurt.

While there is no magic cure for cellulite, recent research seems to suggest that a healthy diet and exercise can help firm up the skin and a smooth its appearance.

Oro Gold Cosmetics Releases New Product Based On The Latest Research To Fight Cancer And Reverse Aging

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 13, 2013

Oro Gold Cosmetics, an innovative skin care company, has released an new, groundbreaking product, 24K Gold Mousse Perfecting Foundation. This lightweight formula combines the companys signature healing ingredient, colloidal 24K gold, with the protective properties of titanium dioxide. Together, these ingredients keep skin looking youthful by actively reducing and repairing the signs of aging, especially against the leading cause of skin aging, the sun.

Oro Gold Cosmetics carved out its niche in the skin care marketplace by completely redefining the boundaries of skin care formulas. Much like ancient cultures and alchemists, Oro Gold skin care products use the beneficial properties of gold. Alchemists are the predecessors of modern day scientists. Their Magnum Opus, or their lifes great work, was to discover and harness the power of the Philosophers Stone, a substance which could turn any metal into gold. Although the alchemists were off the mark when it came to the actual science, they did get one thing right: the power of gold.

The gold used in all Oro Gold Cosmetics including the new 24K Gold Mousse Perfecting Foundation is Colloidal Gold, or Nano Gold. The sub-micrometer particles of gold are suspended throughout the mousse. Their microscopic size allows them to penetrate deep into the skin, repairing damaged skin cells and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The number one cause of those fine lines and wrinkles, and all other signs of skin aging, are the ultraviolet rays emitted from the sun. As an individual ages, the skin naturally loses hydration and decreases the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for giving skin elasticity and resilience. As these things happen, skin begins to wrinkle and sag. This process is accelerated every time the skin is exposed to ultraviolet radiation.

A common mistake individuals make regarding protection against ultraviolet radiation is that they assume that the skin is only affected when under direct sunlight. The reality is that ultraviolet radiation is always present, even during a cold and gloomy winter day. The level of UV rays will be significantly less during this time, but since sun damage is cumulative, even slight exposure will have long term effects on the appearance of skin. In fact, a recent study published by the Annals of Internal Medicine expressed that individuals who wear sunscreen on a daily basis, regardless of weather or location, showed 24% less signs of skin aging.

This new research is accounted for by the second breakthrough ingredient in 24K Gold Mousse Perfecting Foundation is titanium dioxide. This compound is recognized for its resistance to ultraviolet light, so much so that it is found in almost all sunscreens on the market today. Titanium dioxide has properties which allow it to absorb ultraviolet radiation and and at the same time resist discoloration.

The early Oro Gold Cosmetics review of 24K Gold Mousse Perfecting Foundation has been overwhelmingly positive. The key ingredients are specifically designed to address all areas of anti-aging skin care, not only repairing past damage, but preventing future damage as well.

Hidden Hearing Respond to Research that Reveals the Firm Molecular Handshake Needed for Hearing

(PRWEB UK) 30 November 2012

Researchers from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University in the US have mapped the precise 3-D atomic structure of a thin protein filament that is vital for cells in the inner ear as well as calculating the force needed to pull it apart.

First published in the journal, Nature, the study revealed characteristics of the most vulnerable area of structure called the tip link. Tip links are vital to hair cells which in turn are vital for hearing and balance. Tip links are strings of protein that physically connect the cilia of hairs found on these cells, but a mutation in proteins can result in congenital deafness.

These new findings will provide an understanding of how noise can break a tip link and potentially cause a hearing problem as well as opening opportunities for research into noise-induced hearing loss.

A spokesperson from Hidden Hearing said:

New research into the biology of the ear and the causes of certain hearing loss is important for the development of treatment for hearing impairment. This opens up further opportunity for new insight into hearing loss and hopefully further treatment for deafness.

With more than 40 years experience in treating hearing loss, Hidden Hearing is entrusted with the care of more than 100,000 people each year. The firm has 84 hearing centres across the UK, all catering for a range of needs and budgets. Specialising in hearing tests and hearing aids, the company also offer a variety of hearing aid accessories and in 2005, became the first dedicated hearing retailer to be recognised as an Investor in People.
