Parker Center for Plastic Surgery Releases New Information for Patient Education

Paramus, NJ (PRWEB) March 29, 2013

Dr. Paul M. Parker, Medical Director of the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery, has always taken the time to write all of the on-site content for the Parker Center for Plastic Surgerys website. Most recently Dr. Parker has updated the facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), neck lift and facial filler pages of the website.

Many plastic surgeon websites just give a brief biography of the doctor with listings of services available. Through experience, plastic surgeon Dr. Parker has learned that his patients spend a lot of time on the Internet researching the different procedures long before they ever have a consultation. Dr. Parker believes that by providing more detailed information on his website, he can assist people in getting accurate and truthful information from a board certified surgeon.

I write the webpages, not because Im a talented writer but because I believe that I can be more accurate, precise, and timely with the details of the procedures. Im closer to the subject matter than anyone else would be. I speak with patients every day and answer their questions. Im also closer to new developments in the field, some of which may be published in the mainstream media, but most of it is not. I keep myself up to date by reading our peer reviewed journals, attending plastic surgery meetings and discussing newer techniques frequently with my friends and colleagues, explained Dr. Parker.

The facelift page on the site is an excellent example of Dr. Parkers dedication to education and current information. The page explains the details of the face lift procedure, what it can and cannot do for a patient, and what alternatives are available. It even provides information on what changes occur with the aging process. Additionally, new techniques, such as the bi-planer facelifts, are described in great detail for potential patients. The new facelift technique not only pulls the skin but lifts and supports the underlying tissue to increase facial volume, giving a more natural and longer lasting result.

For more than twenty years, Dr. Paul M. Parker has run the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery with a three-pronged philosophy of patient education, state of the art surgical techniques, and caring staff members to provide a safe and comfortable environment for his patients.

Patients who are fully educated about their plastic surgery procedures are generally happier with the results. Since they have a full understanding of the surgery, they tend to be less anxious about it. They also feel more secure having the knowledge of what their recovery will be like. Experience has taught us that by giving our patients as much information as we can, they will be more satisfied with their results, said Dr. Parker.

Other pages across the site, such as the eyelid rejuvenation, neck contouring, and facial fillers, are consistently revamped with new information. For example, facial fillers have come a long way in the past few years, and Dr. Parker has added a page that explains several of the products available as non-surgical options for facial rejuvenation.

Keeping our website content user friendly, current, and informative is our goal. Our website is an extension of our practice. We encourage people to use the website to learn about plastic surgery and their options. When they then visit for a consultation, they are typically quite knowledgeable about their procedures, allowing us to have a higher level discussion. In the end, they are more confident and informed about their decision making. The feedback we receive from our patients regarding the educational value of our website has been extremely positive, plastic surgeon, Dr. Parker said.

Patient education, state of the art surgical techniques, and patient safety and care combine to make the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery a premier facility for cosmetic surgery. For many potential patients, their plastic surgery journey begins online, and Dr. Parker believes accurate and in-depth information is pertinent to a patients satisfaction and overall experience.

Dr. Paul M. Parker is the medical director of both the Parker Center for Plastic Surgery and Beaura Spa. Dr. Parker has over 20 years experience as a plastic surgeon and has won numerous award including most recently the Patients Choice award. He is a board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the New jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons among others.

About Honey Bees

Bees are insects that are related to wasps and ants and there are approximately 20,000 known species of bees found on every continent except Antarctica. Honeybees (Apis mellifera) are not native to the United States as they were introduced by Europeans to produce honey and beeswax. Honeybees are responsible for pollinating 80% of flowering crops, and without them the worlds food supply would be dramatically reduced.

As people become more conscious of the important role that honeybees play in their daily lives, beekeeping is becoming more mainstream and is now allowed in many urban and suburban municipalities. Since 2006, beekeepers in the North America and Europe have noticed a mystifying occurrence called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) in which worker bees from a beehive or European honey bee colony abruptly disappear, leaving the queen and insect larvae behind, unable to fend for themselves. While such disappearances have occurred throughout the history of apiculture, the term colony collapse disorder was first applied to a drastic rise in the number of disappearances of Western honey bee colonies in North America in late 2006.

In a 2013, a formal review by the European Food Safety Authority stated that recent studies show that neonicotinoid pesticides, some of the most widely used pesticides in the world, pose an unacceptably high risk to bees, and that the industry-sponsored science upon which regulatory agencies' claims of safety have relied is flawed and possibly deliberately deceptive.

Honey has been used by humans since ancient times for its health benefits and as a sweetener and flavoring for many foods and beverages, with tea being the most popular. Next to maple syrup, it is the most popular natural sweetener in North America.

Honey bees make honey by collecting nectar from flowers and regurgitating it into beeswax honeycombs inside their hive. Beeswax is a natural wax produced in the hive of honey bees of the genus Apis and its most popular uses are beeswax candles and as an ingredient in natural skin care products.

The flavor and color of honey is determined by the type of flower the bees gather the nectar from; therefore, when cooking or baking with honey it is a good idea to taste the honey before using it in a recipe. For example; a dark honey like tulip poplar-black locust honey will result in a strong, heavy, pungent flavor, whereas orange blossom honey will result in a delicate orange flavor. Dark-colored honey is considered to be higher in minerals and antioxidants than light-colored honey, and one of the most well-known dark-colored honeys is buckwheat honey. Raw buckwheat honey contains a higher amount of minerals and an antioxidant called polyphenol, which gives it its dark color. The health benefits of buckwheat honey are many and well known.

If you are planning to buy honey for its health benefits, it must be raw honey. Heating honey (pasteurization) destroys all of the pollen, enzymes, propolis, vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, minerals and aromatics. Honey that has been heated and filtered is called commercial, regular or liquid honey. The rawest honey available is comb honey which is sections of the hexagonal-shaped beeswax cells of the honeycomb that contain raw honey that have been cut from the wooden frames of a beehive.

Using raw honey is a long-term investment strategy for optimal health and personal care; the dividends are overall mental, physical and spiritual well being. Like a blue chip stock, raw honey should be included in any health-conscious consumers immune system boosting portfolio and the return on investment of substituting honey for refined sugar in the human diet is incalculable.

Another product made by honey bees and used by humans is bee propolis. Propolis is a resinous substance that honey bees collect from tree buds and bark or other botanical sources and mixed with beeswax, nectar and pollen. This mixture is used by bees to seal gaps in the hive and by humans for its health benefits and as a traditional, natural or homeopathic medicine.

Great HealthWorks, Inc., Makers of Omega XL, Reports University of Kansas Medical Center Study: Omega-3s Support Healthier Pregnancies and Birth Weight

(PRWEB) May 13, 2013

Due to widespread dietary deficiencies of essential omega-3 fatty acids, doctors typically recommend that pregnant women add an Omega-3 supplement to their pre and postnatal care regimen. Recent research, conducted at the University of Kansas Medical Center and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggests supplementing pregnant mothers with omega-3 fatty acid, such as found in Omega XL, can lead to longer gestations and healthier birth weights.

The Kansans City researchers designed a double-blind, randomized placebo controlled trial - long considered the gold standard in clinical research that looked at a group of 350 pregnant women, from the 20th week of gestation to birth, who were given either 600 mg of omega-3 DHA daily, or a placebo. Blood was analyzed for red blood cell phospholipid DHA upon enrolment in the study and at birth, from both mom as well as from the umbilical cord.

The blood samples from the group supplemented with DHA, compared to the placebo group, registered higher levels of phospholipid DHA both maternally and at the umbilical cord. An analysis of the pregnancies showed that the DHA group experienced longer gestation duration, greater birth weight and infant size (measured in length and head circumference) than the placebo group. In addition, the DHA group experienced fewer births before 34 weeks, and shorter hospital stays for infants born preterm than did the placebo group.

This study demonstrated that 600mg per day of Omega-3 fatty acid DHA was safe and helped to promote healthy fetal development, overall pregnancy wellness and a reduction in preterm births. The researchers stated as to the significance of the findings: a reduction in early preterm and very-low birth weight could be important clinical and public health outcomes of DHA supplementation.

These findings come on the heels of prior prenatal and pediatric research which suggests that omega-3 supplementation promotes neurological and intellectual development, supports the brain and eyes, increases cognitive function, and enhances visual learning and memory in infants and young children.

Omega XL is one of only two Omega 3 supplements sold in the world that contains the patented stabilized marine lipid extract PCSO-524 derived only from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel, with 30 healthy fatty acids including DHA and EPA. Sold in other parts of the world under its sister brand name Lyprinol, Omega XL is manufactured exclusively by Great HealthWorks Inc., and is the most widely available omega-3 fish oil supplement containing the potent PCSO-524 marine lipid extract. New Yorks first Carboxytherapy Center dedicated to Stretchmark and Cellulite Treatment

(PRWEB) May 31, 2013

Due to overwhelming demand it became necessary to open a dedicated center for treating stretch marks and cellulite and bring on additional personnel. Its one of the most popular treatments at Precision Aesthetics and one of the only ways to successfully treat stretchmarks and cellulite.

Carboxytherapy refers to the administration of carbon dioxide [CO2] gas beneath the skin surface for therapeutic purposes. It is a safe, in-office procedure with no downtime. Dr. Zdinak uses carboxytherapy for the treatment of dark under-eye circles, cellulite, and stretch marks, and she is the creator of the CO2TouchTM technique.

Lisa A. Zdinak, M.D., is the Chief Surgeon and Medical Director of Precision Aesthetics and English language editor of carboxyworld.com, the premier global website for carboxytherapy, http://www.carboxytherapy.com , the official website for carboxytherapy practitioners and patients in the United States.

Over 90% of the female population suffers from cellulite, and carboxytherapy offers a viable solution to this problem. Carboxytherapy has been shown to destroy subdermal fat cells (fatty deposits and dimples) without harming the surrounding skin area. In addition, Dr. Zdinak uses carboxytherapy to shrink fatty deposits on the face, abdomen, upper arms, and knees.

Dr. Zdinak is pleased to offer the most advanced technique for treating stretch marks, yielding faster and more dramatic results. Before carboxytherapy, stretch marks were primarily resistant to therapies. Carboxytherapy offers visible results by softening the stretch marks and encouraging collagen formation. This process allows the scars to contract, making them thinner so they blend more evenly with the surrounding skin.

Carboxytherapy has also been proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of dark under-eye circles, and with the invention of CO2TouchTM carboxytherapy, treating this condition has never been more simple and effective. The majority of dark under-eye circles are caused by vascular pooling [poor circulation beneath the lower eyelids], darkened pigment in the skin itself, or a hollow depression below the lower eyelids. The treatment takes only five minutes, and it is virtually painless and risk-free. A series of 4-6 treatments spaced one week apart is all that is required to achieve an optimal result, said Dr. Zdinak.

Dr Zdinak was interviewed and featured just this month in W Magazine special edition on Modern Beauty for its innovative solutions for dark under eye circles and stretch marks. In addition a very informative video explanation of Carboxytherapy or a Carboxytherapy video consult is available on Precision Aesthetic website.

South Bay Vascular Center and Vein Institute Educates Public About Sclerotherapy

San Jose, California (PRWEB) June 03, 2013

This month the South Bay Vascular Center and Vein Institute in San Jose, California is launching a new campaign to educate the public on their choices for vein disease treatment. The center is focusing specifically on sclerotherapy, a minimally invasive procedure that is particularly effective at treating fine spider veins.

South Bay Vascular Center and Vein Institute, headed by Dr. Polly Kokinos, Dr. Jafar Tay, Dr. John Frusha, and Dr. Kim Rappaport, regularly turns to sclerotherapy to reduce the appearance of fine veins. The treatment uses only a fine needle, explains Dr. Kokinos. A local anesthetic is also applied to the treatment area, making the procedure virtually pain free.

Sclerotherapy helps reduce the appearance of spider veins by sealing the walls of the diseased vessel. Most patients are pleased with the results and are able to resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.

The vein center is turning to Facebook and Twitter to help inform the public about the benefits of this procedure. The doctors and staff hope that through the information they provide the public can make informed choices about how to address vein disease.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options

Varicose veins and spider veins are extremely common in men and women. Men and women suffer from varicose veins, although women are much more likely to have them.

Today, patients have access to a number of effective varicose vein treatment options. Advancements in technology and medicine have led to the development of effective, minimally invasive treatments that produce optimal results with few side-effects or downtime. These treatments include sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation.

Entertainment Industries Councils Center for Skin Cancer Prevention Encourages Skin-Safe Practices During Sun Safety Week

Reston, VA (PRWEB) June 05, 2013

The mercury is beginning to rise across the nation, signaling the long-awaited start of summer. Pools, amusement parks, golf courses and beaches will soon become havens for sun exposure, increasing pubic risk of potential life-long dangers including skin cancer. The Center for Skin Cancer Prevention of the Entertainment Industries Councils Entertainment & Media Communication Institute is sponsoring National Sun Safety Week through this Saturday, June 8th. The week is designed to encourage people to take control of their health by protecting skin and eyes.

The Center for Skin Cancer Prevention, formerly known as the Sun Safety Alliance, provides detailed sun safety resources, activities and information for all ages, demographics, and outdoor enthusiasts. While sun safety should be practiced 12 months a year, we spotlight the summer months when outdoor sports and the desire to tan elevate the dangers of skin cancer for young people. Our goal is to inform every person, through the power of mass media, of the dangers of excessive sun exposure, said Brian Dyak, President and CEO, Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC).

This week represents eight years since Congress first recognized the importance of sun safety and the need for school-based sun safety education programs. In a resolution by the 109th Congress, all Americans were encouraged to protect themselves and their children from the dangers of excessive sun exposure and to support the goals and ideas of National Sun Safety Week.

Suggestions for being Sun Safe:

Just one blistering sunburn can double a childs risk of developing skin cancer later in life, so make sure to protect your childrens skin and teach them healthy habits.

Skin protection is important even on a cloudy day. Use SPF 30+ on all exposed skin, and remember to reapply every two hours. Make sure that your sunscreen protects against the entire UV spectrum, including both UVA and UVB rays. Dont forget areas such as your ears and the tops of your feet; they can burn, too.

Donning a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses will protect your familys eyes and face. Seek shade during the hours of 10 AM 4 PM, when the sun is strongest. Remember that water, sand, and concrete reflect the sun, making its rays even stronger.

During extreme heat, check on elderly friends, family, and neighbors, and remind them to remain indoors and stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water is also especially important when spending time in the sun.

Tanning beds are just as dangerous as the sun. Join the healthy skin movement, and teach your family that fair skin is beautiful and healthy.

Landmark San Diego Dermatology Center Now Offering Cutting-Edge PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 06, 2013

The highly respected dermatologists of Goldman, Butterwick, Fitzpatrick, Groff & Fabi Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego are pleased to announce the arrival of the newest and most advanced treatment for tattoo removal, the PicoSure laser. According to Dr. William Groff, laser expert at GBFG&F, the new PicoSure laser system is able to bring patients better outcomes in fewer treatments.

Because the PicoSure Laser system is able to target such specific areas in the skin to create a photomechanical impact, tattoos are disrupted in a much greater clearance than with any other treatment, said Dr. Groff. This is truly the best treatment for tattoo removal available.

The new PicoSure laser system is the first in the world to rely on picosecond technology. Unlike other tattoo removal lasers, the PicoSure system delivers quick pulses of energy to targeted areas of the skin at an astounding width nearly 100 times shorter than nanosecond technology. As Dr. Sabrina Fabi describes, dermatologists are now able to treat difficult, darker tattoos that may have left unwanted residue behind.

Tattoos with blue and green ink have historically been the toughest to fully remove. Now, with the PicoSure laser in San Diego, were able to break the tattoo into microscopic particles that the body can easily dispel, in half as many treatments as traditional Q-switched lasers said board certified dermatologist Sabrina Fabi, MD.

At GBFG&F in San Diego, the PicoSure laser can also be used to treat benign pigmented lesions, including hyperpigmentation, melasma, and unwanted discolored sunspots. Though each patient is unique, the number of treatments required for optimal results is greatly lowered with the advanced technology of the PicoSure laser.

Before the PicoSure laser, a patient may need 4-6 treatments to see the best results for the diminishment of tattoos or other pigment problems. Today, our patients see excellent results in as little as 2 treatments, said Dr. Groff.

Goldman, Butterwick, Fitzpatrick, Groff & Fabi: Cosmetic Laser Dermatology is a world-renowned aesthetic center in San Diego, California made up of five internationally distinguished skin care experts, including Mitchel P. Goldman, MD, Kimberly Butterwick, MD, Richard Fitzpatrick, MD, William Groff, DO, and Sabrina Fabi, MD. As highly acclaimed dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons who have contributed hundreds of medical papers to journals and medical textbooks as well as pioneered multiple key procedures, the services provided F are among the most technologically advanced to date. With more than 38 different lasers, the award winning San Diego dermatologists of GBFG&F are able to provide patients with the most comprehensive selection of skincare treatments in the United States.
