Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month: Skin Check-ups and Laser Technology Team Up in the Fight Against Skin Cancer

New York, New York (PRWEB) April 16, 2013

One in five Americans will develop a type of skin cancer at some point in life; annual indoor tanning increases that chance by 20 percent. There are several different types of skin cancer, each with its own unique characteristics. Skin cancers include basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and the most serious form, melanoma. Melanoma is both serious and difficult to treat, especially in later stages. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, it is important to check for skin cancer at least once a year with full body check by a knowledgeable dermatologist. It is also recommended that suncreen with SPF 30 or higher be worn as a first line of defense.

Precancerous cells, such as actinic keratosis are the first indicators of danger. It is a scaly lesion most commonly found on the face and back of the hands of those with fair skin, which can be treated using a laser technology called Fraxel Re:store Dual. The Fraxel Re:store Dual laser is a non-invasive resurfacing system used to treat wrinkles, loose skin, sun damage, and is FDA-approved to treat precancerous lesions before they become life threatening. The Fraxel laser treats the skin by fractionally treating microscopic sections of the skin at a time, while stimulating the skins natural repair system to replace damaged cells with healthier tissue. This leaves behind a newer, tighter and cancer-free layer of skin.

Fraxel has become an extremely useful preemptive measure in the fight against skin cancer, by catching and destroying precancerous cells before they worsen. Dr. Rokhsar was the first physician to introduce Fraxel Laser technology to the United States and medical community after working with a prototype for over a year, giving him unparalleled experience.

The Fraxel Dual laser is successful in replacing precancerous cells with healthy ones, Dr. Rokhsar says. After working with the Fraxel laser so extensively, it has proven effective in treating cells that could potentially turn cancerous if not treated, making it an important tool against skin cancer.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) utilizes alpha lipoic acid (ALA), a substance that enhances the absorption of laser or blue light into the skin, thereby destroying precancerous cells, improving skin tone and erasing sun damage. There are other precancerous lesions that patients should also be aware of besides actinic keratosis. Dysplastic nevi syndrome is a marker for patients that may develop melanoma later on. Early detection and treatment through regular checkups for skin cancer with a board-certified dermatologist, is vital for the cure of skin cancer, and if caught early virtually all types of skin cancer are curable.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer in the United States, it also grows slowly and rarely metastasizes (spreads to other areas of the body). However, if left untreated, basal cell will continue to grow, invade and destroy the surrounding skin and tissues beneath the skin. The major cause of developing basal cell carcinoma is overexposure to ultraviolet light; from either the outdoors natural light of the sun or from indoor tanning beds.

While it is important for people to be able to recognize a basal cell carcinoma growth at home, it should still be examined and confirmed by a dermatologist because it is often mistaken for other skin conditions such as acne, cysts, eczema or psoriasis. It appears as a pink or pearly white lesion or sore that can easily bleed, crust over or heal poorly. They are characterized as dome or nodule shapes, flat growths, or scar-like lesions.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common form of skin cancer in the United States. The most common cause of squamous cell carcinoma is also the overexposure to ultraviolet light from the sun or tanning beds. It can develop anywhere along the body, although the most prevalently exposed areas, such as the head, neck, hands, shoulders, and lower legs, are the most common. Squamous cell carcinoma lesions appear as hard, superficial, dark red growths that become dome-shaped as they get larger and can sometimes look like dry skin patches.

The most infamously dangerous type of skin cancer is melanoma, which accounts for more than 9 to 12-thousand skin cancer deaths each year and can appear on any area of the body. In the United States, it is the 5th most common cancer in men, and the 7th most common cancer in women. Melanoma typically resembles a mole; however if the pigmentation of the area is not uniform or if the diameter is greater than 6 millimeters, it should be examined by a dermatologist. Surgery for melanoma can be effective only if the melanoma is caught early.

Treating basal and squamous cell carcinoma depend on many factors including the type, location and age of the growth. One method is cryotherapy, which involves killing the cancerous cells by freezing them with liquid nitrogen. However, it is most effectively treated by the MOHS Micrographic surgery procedure. The lesion is removed and examined under a microscope to ensure complete removal of the cancerous cells. Because the skin is removed in careful layers, the technique salvages as much healthy skin as possible. The MOHS Micrographic surgery is especially useful in areas of cosmetic concern, such as the face. Regular checkups should follow afterwards to guarantee minimalistic scarring and healthy healing process. Physicians who can perform MOHS surgery, such as Dr. Rokhsar, must be specially licensed with one additional year of training.

Dr. Cameron K. Rokhsar, M.D., is the leading authority in laser surgery and non-invasive techniques and has trained more physicians on the use of the Fraxel laser in the United States and internationally than any other physician. He is also a MOHS Micrographic trained surgeon with years of experience in the procedure. A graduate of Harvard and New York University, Dr. Rokhsar is a fellowship-trained dermatologist and laser surgeon and extensively published medical author and Professor of Dermatology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His offices are located in New York City and Garden City, Long Island.

Above all Grand Salon and Spa in Wexford, PA Now Offers SkinPhD, Advanced Cosmeceutical Skin Care that is Formulated in South Africa and Cold Laser Facial Therapies

Wexford, PA (PRWEB) May 10, 2013

Above All Grand Salon and Spa is one of the largest, upscale salons and spas in greater Pittsburgh at over 9,000 sq. feet with a beautiful Tuscan motif that is contemporary yet relaxing. Since 1979, the owner, Diane Robison, and the professional team at Above All have built an outstanding reputation on service and quality. That is the reason Ms. Robison says that she selected SkinPhD Cosmeceuticals as her newest offering to guests. "I am thrilled with our newest product line, SkinPhD. I believe that it is the best product on the market and I am excited about offering our new cold laser, photo bio-stimulation facials to our clients. You will love the SkinPhD products and cold laser facials! I am always searching for only the best for our clients!" says Ms. Robison.

What makes SkinPhD Cosmeceuticals"the best"? SkinPhD CEO, Heather Elrod, says "It is our unique formulations with a high level of ground-breaking, active ingredients that bridge clinical and natural; effective yet luxurious. SkinPhD is an American company yet our cosmetic scientists reside in South Africa where we formulate our product collection. This is a very important part of our product research and development as we combine rich, indigenous South African extracts, such as the semi-precious stone Zincite, Marula (the golden fruit from the region), and Kalahari Melon with the most advanced cosmeceutical ingredients on the market. These powerful natural actives are appealing but, moreover, our clients want and expect results...that is what SkinPhD delivers in an extraordinary way and at a conscientious price point."

SkinPhD combines cosmeceutical skin care with cold laser therapy facials. New to the aesthetic market, cold laser therapy has been used for decades by physicians, sports therapists, and chiropractors for pain management relief as it builds collagen and elasticity, oxygenates the blood, and is anti-inflammatory. It works within the mitochondria of the cell producing a process called "ATP" which brings the cells back to their original state of health over a series of treatments. Above All Grand Salon and Spa owner, Ms. Robison, says that she is "amazed at the vitality that appears in the skin after a cold laser treatment. We are seeing tremendous results in the appearance of so many different skin types and issues." An example of one of the cold laser facials being offered at Above All is a "Platinum Illuminating Facial": the skin is exfoliated using SkinPhD's award-winning AHA 7-Fruit Amidroxy Exfoliator followed by the collagen-building and oxygenating cold laser therapy. A luxurious cocoa mask is brushed on the skin that not only smells delicious but also delivers a powerful dose of anti-oxidants leaving the skin illuminated and glowing. An application of Liposome C&E Serum (Liposome is the most stable form of C) and SkinPhD's Platinum Flawless Day Cream (a top-seller) is massaged into the skin and it feels amazing! Look in the mirror and you can't believe the difference in your skin--it looks hydrated, firmer, glowing...WOW!

Above All Grand Salon and Spa won the 2013 Reader's Choice award in their market. The aestheticians at Above All have decades of experience with a very loyal and prominent clientele. "It is clear that Ms. Robison and her team are experts at delivering an exceptional guest experience," says Ms. Elrod. "SkinPhD is delighted to join Above All Grand Salon and Spa in bringing confidence and a sense of well-being to their guests through beautiful, renewed, healthy skin!"

Landmark San Diego Dermatology Center Now Offering Cutting-Edge PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 06, 2013

The highly respected dermatologists of Goldman, Butterwick, Fitzpatrick, Groff & Fabi Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego are pleased to announce the arrival of the newest and most advanced treatment for tattoo removal, the PicoSure laser. According to Dr. William Groff, laser expert at GBFG&F, the new PicoSure laser system is able to bring patients better outcomes in fewer treatments.

Because the PicoSure Laser system is able to target such specific areas in the skin to create a photomechanical impact, tattoos are disrupted in a much greater clearance than with any other treatment, said Dr. Groff. This is truly the best treatment for tattoo removal available.

The new PicoSure laser system is the first in the world to rely on picosecond technology. Unlike other tattoo removal lasers, the PicoSure system delivers quick pulses of energy to targeted areas of the skin at an astounding width nearly 100 times shorter than nanosecond technology. As Dr. Sabrina Fabi describes, dermatologists are now able to treat difficult, darker tattoos that may have left unwanted residue behind.

Tattoos with blue and green ink have historically been the toughest to fully remove. Now, with the PicoSure laser in San Diego, were able to break the tattoo into microscopic particles that the body can easily dispel, in half as many treatments as traditional Q-switched lasers said board certified dermatologist Sabrina Fabi, MD.

At GBFG&F in San Diego, the PicoSure laser can also be used to treat benign pigmented lesions, including hyperpigmentation, melasma, and unwanted discolored sunspots. Though each patient is unique, the number of treatments required for optimal results is greatly lowered with the advanced technology of the PicoSure laser.

Before the PicoSure laser, a patient may need 4-6 treatments to see the best results for the diminishment of tattoos or other pigment problems. Today, our patients see excellent results in as little as 2 treatments, said Dr. Groff.

Goldman, Butterwick, Fitzpatrick, Groff & Fabi: Cosmetic Laser Dermatology is a world-renowned aesthetic center in San Diego, California made up of five internationally distinguished skin care experts, including Mitchel P. Goldman, MD, Kimberly Butterwick, MD, Richard Fitzpatrick, MD, William Groff, DO, and Sabrina Fabi, MD. As highly acclaimed dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons who have contributed hundreds of medical papers to journals and medical textbooks as well as pioneered multiple key procedures, the services provided F are among the most technologically advanced to date. With more than 38 different lasers, the award winning San Diego dermatologists of GBFG&F are able to provide patients with the most comprehensive selection of skincare treatments in the United States.

San Clemente, CA Periodontist, Dr. Allen J. Schultz Improves Oral Health by Removing Gum Disease with Laser Surgery Before Placing Dental Implants

San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2013

Periodontist Dr. Allen Schultz now offers the use of a new laser gum disease treatment to improve a patients readiness for receiving dental implants. Patients have higher success with their implants when gum disease is removed, and now there is a less invasive gum surgery available that can remove diseased tissue while promoting healing.

Traditional treatments for gum disease involved general anesthetics, scalpels and long recovery periods. These methods also resulted in the loss of a large amount of healthy tissue as well as the removal of diseased gum tissue. Often the amount of gum that was removed would eliminate the option for a patient to receive an implant as there would not be sufficient tissue left to fully support the implant.

With todays new Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) technique, Dr. Schultz can treat only the diseased gum tissue, leaving all healthy tissue untouched, thereby retaining the maximum amount of tissue for improved oral health. This also allows for sufficient tissue to remain in order to support the placement of dental implants.

Aside from gum disease, a patient may often not be eligible for implants because they lack sufficient bone density in the jaw. In addition to being an effective gum disease treatment, LANAP actually stimulates the growth of new bone in the jaw, thereby creating a strong base for an implant. With the right amount of healthy soft gum tissue and strong bone, a periodontist can be assured of success in placing a dental implant.

Patients that require some treatment for a missing tooth or teeth typically choose between implants, bridges or dentures. All options have their advantages but only dental implants can provide the lifelong advantages of jawbone structure preservation as well as a lowered risk or need of repeated surgeries, as is common with bridges or dentures. With both bridges and dentures, there is nothing left in the actual jawbone to maintain overall structure and integrity so the bone actually degrades over time. This leads to a misshapen look and even sagging of the facial muscles and skin, giving an aged appearance. With successful gum disease treatment, patients can opt for implants to not only fill holes left by missing teeth but to prevent these future problems as well.

For more information about the benefits of laser gum disease treatment and dental implants, visit Dr. Schultzs website and call today.

Calgary Laser Hair Removal Clinic Adds Weight Loss Program To Roster Of Treatments

(PRWEB) November 21, 2012

When V Medi-Spa began its primary focus was laser hair removal and Botox treatments. These were the two staple offerings around which the rest of the business was built. To this day, the spa is primarily identifiable as a place to get Botox treatments, laser hair removal sessions, and a variety of other non-surgical skin care treatments, and this is still what the Medi-Spa does best.

But in that time, the spa has also expanded its range, included many other therapies that the staff and management have felt their clients will feel are valuable and important in achieving healthy skin and a desired look. Their offerings, even within the original botox and laser hair format, have become packaged and streamlined, so that clients can sign on for a variety of intervals, and ensure that they are receiving exactly the type of care that they are interested in.

And now, for the first time, V Medi-Spa has decided to offer an hCG weight-loss program. The tag line for this program is, lose 30 pounds in 30 days and thats exactly what this weight loss system is capable of. The hCG-assisted weight loss method has been around for a long time, but it is gaining a lot of popularity in recent years, after being featured on Dr. Ozs television show and entering the mainstream.

The basic idea of the therapy is as follows: hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) is a hormone that is released throughout the body in very large quantities throughout the beginning stages of a pregnancy. Although this may seem to make it a poor choice to inject for weight-loss purposes, the reverse is true. The hormone stimulates the hypothalamus gland and mobilizes abnormal fat from its typical storage locations. This fat becomes the primary energy source for the body and is burned in an entirely natural and safe way.

The safety of this method has been proven again and again, as has its efficacy and the consistency of the results that it achieves. The injection format of the therapy makes it an easy fit for the other procedures that this Calgary laser hair removal clinic offers. Although this is a new offering for V Medi-Spa the team who organized this offering are confident that clients are going to enjoy the benefits that the therapy provides, and, by extension, will come to experience a healthier and more vibrant side of themselves in the near future.

Quinn Clinics Doctor Explains why Laser Hair Removal is an Ideal Winter Treatment

Bristol (PRWEB UK) 30 November 2012

The thought of summer holidays and skimpier clothing tends to raise interest in summer laser hair removal. However, autumn and winter are actually a much better time to embark on laser hair removal courses.

Bristol and London-based Dr John Quinn from cosmetic, laser and medical skin treatments clinic Quinn Clinics offers 3 reasons why the winter is perfect timing for laser hair removal:

1. After laser hair removal, the skin is sensitive and needs extra sun protection. However, in the winter months, popular areas such as the legs and underarms tend to be kept under wraps anyway, so theres no need to worry about sun protection.

2. The winter is ideal for a course of facial laser hair removal as the hair is darker and skin is lighter. Laser hair removal works best when the laser picks out a dark hair against pale skin to blitz the follicle. In the winter, facial hair is not bleached by the sun, and skin is less tanned. This creates a better contrast so that the laser can work efficiently. And again, theres less concern about sunburn on delicate skin.

3. Laser hair removal needs a course of treatment for best results. This is due to the fact that the laser targets hairs in the active growth cycle, but will not treat dormant follicles. Therefore patients normally return for a course of 6 treatments spread 4 weeks apart so that all follicles are lasered, preventing the hair from regrowing. Clients that start laser hair removal courses in the winter should be finished early summer.

Dr Quinn explains: While summer is the natural peak for new laser hair removal clients, those that have already had one area completed, for example the underarms, will often book a second course over the winter to be hair free for the next year; as they already understand the process and have seen the benefits of laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal is seen as a cosmetic treatment, but we also see patients who suffer from excessive hair growth which causes real embarrassment (for example with hormone-related conditions or PCOS). In these cases, treatment makes a radical difference not only to the hair but also to the patients self-esteem.

Quinn Clinics in Clifton, Bristol offer state of the art laser hair removal. Before any treatment, they offer a consultation and skin test free of charge to enable patients to experience the feel of the treatment and see the results before committing to a course. It also enables the laser practitioner to assess the clients skin type and calculate the correct setting for safe, effective results.

The company are also offering savings on laser hair removal courses in the run up to Christmas.

Quinn Clinics, practises high standards of skin and laser treatments in Clifton, Bristol. It is a Doctor owned and led clinic, fully registered with the Care Quality Commission (the only independent GP-led clinic in Bristol to have chosen to have this registration).

The clinic offers a comprehensive range of treatments, from wrinkle-relaxing injections and dermal fillers, excessive sweating treatment, vein treatment and IPL facial rejuvenation. In addition, a series of training courses are delivered to share the latest skills and best practice with other medical professionals.

Veronica Solis-Rohr, MD, of Refine MD Completes Master Class in Laser Liposuction

Menesha, WI (PRWEB) December 12, 2012

Refine MD of Menasha, WI, announces that one of its founding physicians, Veronica Solis-Rohr, MD, has completed Laser Lipolysis and Body Sculpting Techniques Live Surgery Hands-On Workshop with Robert L. True, MD, FACOG, FACS, in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Solis-Rohr enrolled in this master class to train with one of the countrys leading experts in laser lipolysis and expand the types of procedures that she can offer to her Green Bay and Fox Valley patients.

I was honored to train in laser liposuction with one of the foremost experts in the field, said Dr. Solis-Rohr. As a family physician, I have had extensive surgical training and experience during my 20 years of practice, and I continue to be interested in expanding my knowledge in surgical procedures that I can offer to patients. This hands-on training has given me the extra expertise needed to deliver great Laser Lipo results to my patients.

Laser Lipolysis is a laser-based alternative to traditional liposuction. It's a minimally invasive approach to permanent fat reduction that requires only local anesthesia, so patients are awake. There's less bruising and recovery time than traditional lipo. The procedure is performed at Refine MD's comfortable, in-office surgical suite. Clients go home the same day as the procedure. Because a laser is used during the procedure, skin tightening occurs in addition to the fat reduction. The laser heats the skin causing collagen remodeling, which results in tighter skin. Results can be seen immediately with continued improvement over a few months.

My Refine MD colleague, Dr. Carrie Blanc, has been performing ProLipo laser liposuction for women and men with great success for a number of years, according to Dr. Solis-Rohr. It is a popular request by clients, and I am delighted to begin offering it for our Green Bay and Fox Valley clients, as well.

For more information about ProLipo Laser Liposuction, contact RefineMD at (920) 380-9990 or visit http://www.refinemd.com/prolipo.htm.

Shaft Medical San Diego now offers PureLight Cellulite Heliotherapy, the latest laser technology for treating stubborn cellulite.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2012

Shaft Medical San Diego, the West Coasts leading aesthetic medicine practice, providing the full range of advanced cosmetic procedures and located in beautiful La Jolla California, now offers PureLight Cellulite Heliotherapy to treat stubborn cellulite.

Available only at Shaft Medical, PureLight Cellulite Heliotherapy San Diego and La Jolla is the remarkably effective non-invasive solution to cellulite that people have been waiting for.

Cellulite is a condition which affects more than 85% of women, even being apparent on very lean women, but rarely seen in males. It appears when fat cells just underneath the skin swell or enlarge and the collagen bands become brittle and no longer stretch properly. This is what causes the dimpled skin appearance. It is not a result of poor diet and exercise, or increased body fat as most people think. The development of cellulite is primarily caused by hormones, vascular changes, and inflammation.

PureLight produces a low level, or cold laser light that targets the membrane of the trapped fat cells that cause cellulite. The penetrating light energy then allows applied laser energy to eject the fat from the trapped cell so it can move into the body's natural waste removal system.

PureLight Cellulite Heliotherapy's new and innovative technology is non-invasive and UV free. It can be used to treat cellulite anywhere on the body and is safe to use on patients of all skin types. There are no side effects or sensitivity to sun and there is no downtime. Skin care products may be applied immediately after treatment, and patients can resume all normal activity.

PureLight treatments are painless and soothing and can provide visual results in as little as 48 hours. Patients will begin to see gradual tightening and smoothness of the skin. Each session takes about 45 minutes depending on the size and number of areas being treated. A total of 3 weekly sessions are recommended, however, additional sessions maybe required for resistant areas. Results depend on body weight and lifestyle. Proper diet and exercise regime will help maintain the results for up to several years.

In addition to the treatment of cellulite, PureLight Heliotherapy system has been found to restore the skin's natural and healthy appearance.

New York Skin Care Experts Skin Laser Studios Suggests a New Years Resolution for Your Skin

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 19, 2012

New York skin care expert and owner of Skin Laser Studios in New York City, Marta Rodriquez, suggests making healthy skin a priority in 2013. Ms. Rodriguez's "New Year, New Skin" campaign offers suggestions on how to keep skin clean, clear and healthy in 2013.

"The new trend is organics" says Skin Laser Studios Owner Marta Rodriguez. "People are beginning to be more aware of the effects of chemicals on their skin so they are opting for organic products. Seven Cosmetic Laser Treatments Give DeRoberts Plastic Surgery Patients More Options

Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) December 20, 2012

At DeRoberts Plastic Surgery in Syracuse, cosmetic surgery has increasingly relied upon the cutting-edge possibilities of laser technology. Dr. DeRoberts is now carrying the latest innovations in lasers that are used for an array of minimally invasive cosmetic skin treatments.

Much like standard CO2 treatments before it, the Matrix Fractional CO2 skin treatment throws collagen production into hyperdrive, improving the complexion. This new and improved laser does not affect the upper layer of skin and will not leave scarring or redness like its predecessor. This resurfacing procedure is used to positively impact areas around the face, neck, and back. If you want to treat skin damage, wrinkles, discoloration, abnormal pore size, or just improve the overall complexion of your skin, Fractional CO2 laser therapy may be an ideal solution for your needs, Dr. DeRoberts said.

Similarly, the Palomar Starlux is commonly utilized for photofacials and removing age spots. The Erbium laser is used for micro laser peeling and also targets larger areas and deeper layers of skin to expose a better overall complexion.

The Cheveux 810 nm Diode Laser, on the other hand, is used for permanently removing hair from targeted areas. The Lyra Nd:YAG laser is used to treat unsightly varicose veins that may have you wanting to cover up your legs. A V-Beam pulsed dyed laser uses a highly concentrated pulse of light to target and lighten the appearance of blood and skin cells that are adversely affected by rosacea, birthmarks, warts, and acne. Tri-Lase Q-Switched Nd:YAG & Erbium YAG Laser combines the two most popular wavelengths for skin resurfacing (Q-switched Nd:YAG & Er:YAG) to remove tattoos and pigmented lesions with predictable results and a minimal risk of adverse reactions.

In Syracuse, laser hair removal is one of the most popular laser treatments at the office of Dr. DeRoberts. Women who wish to have smooth legs and underarms without the hassle of shaving can achieve the same goals with treatments from the Cheveux 810 nm Diode laser. The procedure is powerful enough for lasting results but delicate enough for the face. Men who dont wish to shave their beards and mustaches daily can also benefit from using this cosmetic option.

While laser procedures make up an important part of the doctors practice, there are a number of other offerings available to patients. For breast augmentation, Syracuse residents can trust Dr. DeRoberts to enhance existing breast tissue or replace tissue that was removed due to breast cancer or other trauma. Both saline and silicone implants are available. Decisions are made collaboratively between the patient and the physician after a discussion is had to determine the individual patients wishes.

Dr. DeRoberts is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Syracuse residents can rest assured knowing they are getting exemplary care from an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has also received several prestigious awards, including the Glancy Award from the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Santa Monica Dermatologist, Dr. Ben Behnam, and Santa Monica Hair Transplant Expert, Dr. Sean Behnam, Launch Their New Websites Focused on Treatment of Acne, Skin Cancer, Laser Procedures and Hair Transplant

Santa Monica, California (PRWEB) January 23, 2013

Sean Behnam, M.D., and Ben Behnam, M.D., of Santa Monica California are excited to announce the release of their new websites. To meet the needs of Santa Monica citizens who might be in need of hair transplant, skin cancer treatment, laser procedures and/or acne treatment, Dr. Sean and Dr. Ben Behnam have recently launched their new websites focusing on these treatments. Dr. Behnams Dermatology center in Santa Monica has increasingly relied upon the cutting-edge laser technology that is used for an array of minimally invasive cosmetic skin treatments such as acne scar removal and wrinkle removal.

Much like past traditional CO2 treatments, the Fractional CO2 skin treatment increases collagen production improving the skin complexion. Fractional CO2 laser does not have the prolonged downtime associated with the traditional CO2 treatment sessions. Fractional CO2 laser therapy is an ideal solution to treat acne scars, skin damage, wrinkles, discoloration, or just improve the overall complexion of skin.

At Dr. Behnams Dermatology center, laser acne removal, laser wrinkle removal, and laser hair removal are the most popular laser treatments. Women who wish to have smooth legs and underarms without the hassle of shaving can achieve the same goals with laser hair removal treatments. The procedure is powerful enough for lasting results but delicate enough for the face. Men who dont wish to shave their beards daily can also benefit from using this cosmetic option.

While laser procedures make up an important part of Dr. Behnams practice, there are a number of other offerings, including hair transplant, available to patients. Dr. Sean Behnam is Santa Monicas prominent Hair Transplant Surgeon offering cutting edge Hair transplant surgery. He is known nationally and internationally for his innovative surgical methods, excellent artistic vision, and his gift to put his aesthetic vision into reality. Dr. Behnam is actively involved in researching new and better ways of hair restoration. Over the past few years, he has developed ways to minimize swelling after hair transplants, minimize scabbing, minimize pain, and increase graft survival. Dr. Sean Behnam is among the select few physicians honored with the prestigious Patients' Choice Award this year. Following the publication of Santa Monica Hair Transplant Dr. Sean Behnam's selection for the Patient's Choice Award, Dr. Behnam also received the Compassionate Doctors Award. An exclusive recognition plaque has been designed to commemorate the honor.

Dr. Sean Behnam is a fellow researcher, an innovator, a teacher, and an artistic leader. Over the past few years, he has modified significant steps in hair transplant surgery for its aesthetic value. He has also made the process easier for patients. His intense effort in modifying hair transplant practice has led to less downtime, minimal to no swelling after the procedure, minimal scabbing, minimal bruising, and better patient experience overall. Dr. Behnams patients who have had previous procedures elsewhere say that his care and attention to artistic details make the experience in his clinic a total joy. Dr. Behnams patients describe it as relaxing, rejuvenating, and an artistic transformation.

Other dermatological offerings include acne treatments. Acne is an inflammatory condition of the skin that could have a significant psychological impact on the patient. There are many different forms of acne including whiteheads, red pimples, as well as cystic acne. A lot of times these acne lesions could be very tender and painful. It is very important to treat acne at an early stage in order to prevent scarring. Scarring from acne could present in many different ways including red patches that might not go away for months to years, raised lesions or more commonly depressions on the skin. The treatment of acne has changed over the last several years. With better medications, we are better able to control acne at an earlier stage and more aggressively.

The most common treatment for acne is topical creams. These creams include topical clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide, or Retin-A. Clindamycin is a topical antibiotic. It kills the bacteria on the skin and is also anti-inflammatory. It is typically combined with benzoyl peroxide in order to increase its efficacy. Retin-A is great for patients that have lot of whiteheads and blackheads. Unfortunately, Retin-A can sometimes be very irritating, thus Dr. Ben Behnam, Santa Monicas prominent dermatologist, recommends using it every other night on the face very sparingly. It is also recommended to use a moisturizing cream with Retin-A. In addition to Retin-A, Differin is another topical prescription cream that is similar to Retin-A but is used mainly in lighter skin individuals.

In addition to topical creams, there are also oral antibiotics. The traditional antibiotic that has always been used is Doxycycline. Doxycycline works great in killing the topical bacteria on the skin as well as reducing the inflammation thus reducing the pimples. They could also help in reducing the redness that persists after acne. Unfortunately, oral antibiotics do not work in everybody thus it is recommended that patients should give a fair trial to the antibiotics for 2 to 3 months. If it does not work then Dr. Ben Behnam typically switches them from Doxycycline to Minocycline or even Keflex. Bactrim can also sometimes be used.

Lasers have become very popular over the past several years for acne. Dr. Behnam, an expert in lasers used for acne and acne scarring, typically likes to combine various laser modalities in order to treat acne. Photodynamic light therapy with Levulan is a form of a laser where the Levulan chemical is applied on to the face for about 20 to 30 minutes and then the patient sits under the red light anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes. This procedure is done every other week typically about 3 times. The patients could experience some redness as well as scaling after the procedure. However, the procedure helps in shrinking the oil glands and improving acne.

Red light and blue light can also be used to treat acne. Typically patients are recommended to have the procedure done 2 to 3 times per week typically alternating between the red and the blue light. In addition, photofacial lasers, known as IPL, and Vbeam can also be used to treat acne. It is typically done every 3 to 4 weeks on the face and it helps in reducing the acne lesions as well as reducing the redness.

Chemical peels may also be used to improve acne and acne scar. Glycolic peels, Jessners peels, and VI peel can be used to exfoliate the face and improve the appearance of acne. It is typically done every 4 weeks on the face. Some patients may peel depending upon the degree and strength of the chemical peel used.

Clarisonic is an electronic brush that Dr. Behnam recommends for acne patients. Patients use the electronic brush on a nightly basis, which helps to exfoliate the face, remove the dirt that plucks up the pores on the skin. After using the Clarisonic brush, patients can continue using topical prescription creams. Overall, there are many different treatments for acne ranging from topical to oral to chemical peels at best to lasers. Every patient is different and may require combination of these different modalities to help with acne scar. Dr. Ben Behnam is a Board Certified Dermatologist Practicing in Santa Monica, California that specializes in all skin diseases as well as acne.

Having a routine skin check once or twice a year is very important. The skin is the largest organ of the body and throughout the years, the skin gets exposed to the sun on a regular basis. Despite the fact that most patients think that they are never in the sun, the reality is that the 5 minutes that it takes them to walk from the parking lot into their office buildings over the years add up and could cause significant damage to their

Customers in Tampa Are Getting Excited About The New Laser Hair Removal Services At Fusion Medispa

Tampa-Odessa, FL (PRWEB) January 26, 2013

Now, the spa is expanding its scope of offerings, which already include body sculpting, electrolysis, Botox treatments, laser peels, micro-dermabrasion, acne peels, women and men's facials, permanent eyelashes, deep tissue massages, hot stone massages, pregnancy therapy, cellulite detox, body wraps spray tanning and waxing.

"We've added laser hair removal to our extensive list of personal concierge services because of its growing popularity, painless procedure, and effectiveness. Our customers are always our first priority and we want to be able to cater to their every request, and with this addition, its a step toward that goal," said a company spokesperson.

Fusion answers the question why laser hair removal with the certitude this service only adds to the improvement of people's' lives, making them feel better about themselves, thereby boosting their self esteem and reinforcing a positive self image.

The Medispa and Skin Care Lounge includes laser hair removal as one of its most exclusive services but doesn't plan on overpricing it. Instead, the medispa plans to offer it at affordable price-points so to give access to more consumers around the Tampa Bay area.

The medispa noted that it had been asked the question of how to get permanent hair removal laser treatment in the past, by some of their current clients. Rather than referring their patrons to other businesses who might not provide the same level of customer care and appreciation, it decided it to be more prudent and beneficial to its clients by offering the service directly.

Fusion Medispa recognizes that facial hair can be problematic for some customers and wants to assist its clientele in every way possible. Unsightly hair, blemishes and other skin imperfections can have a negative impact on a person's self image, their ego, and affect their ability to present themselves with confidence.

This serves as a great benefit to those individuals--men or women--and is yet another example of Fusion Medispa taking their customer's concerns, wants and needs to heart.

The lounge will provide this and many more services to customers by appointment or walk-in. However, the company notes due to the level of interest, those interested in obtaining this treatment should make an appointment to reduce wait times.

Mulberry House Clinic & Laser Centre Launches Innovative No-Needle Dermal Fillers

Northampton (PRWEB UK) 31 January 2013

Dr John Tanqueray has worked in cosmetic treatments since 1999 and over this time has witnessed first-hand the colossal impact that injectable treatments have had, enabling patients to look younger than their years without resorting to surgery.

However, there are still those who feel uncomfortable or even frightened of the idea of injections with a hypodermic needle. Until now, that has ruled out the possibility of dermal fillers. However, now new technology is available, allowing patients to have facial fillers without the need for traditional needles.

Mulberry House Clinic & Laser Centre already has a strong reputation for offering patients a wide choice of the latest treatments with highly professional service. Now they are one of the first clinics in the UK to offer the new no-needle fillers.

Dr Tanqueray explains:

The common signs of ageing lines and wrinkles appear when hyaluronic acid production in the skin starts to slow down. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance which adds volume to the skin, but it depletes with time. Modern fillers are based on hyaluronic acid and allow us to restore that volume very effectively, smoothing out creases. However, it has traditionally only been available for injecting directly into the skin.

Now the new no-needle fillers give an excellent alternative. Using a specially designed filler device, we are able to gently yet effectively fill and smooth the skin without uncomfortable injections.

This is obviously ideal for someone who is needle phobic. However, we also find that the no-needle filler device offers a particularly delicate application which works well for delivering a general skin improvement in localised areas, rather than just filling a specific crease. Currently the main area is around the mouth, but other areas such as eyes, hands, chest, d

Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics Medical Spa and Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute Are Decked Out for Valentines Day Special Beauty Event

Prescott, Arizona (PRWEB) February 05, 2013

Valentines Day is just around the corner and to celebrate this special day of romance, Body Oasis Laser Aesthetics and Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute are offering a one-day sale on February 12th, 2013 with deals on such products as Neocutis, Radiesse and Xeomin. Product representatives will be on hand to help educate clients on the newest products in skin care for 2013. Body Oasis will be introducing the newest member to the staff, Brittany Tayon, certified nail technician, who will be there to offer her services. The Valentines Day beauty bash is a way to kick off a year of celebration as it is the 10th anniversary of the practice. It will be a good opportunity for clients to mingle, nosh and learn more about the cosmetic services offered as well as become educated about the newest skincare products for the coming year.

Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute will be offering deals on many of its cosmetic dermal fillers too, including Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm and Perlane. Dermal fillers are a temporary solution to lines and wrinkles and can be used to augment the cheekbones, reshape the nose, fill the back of the hands and improve the appearance of scars. Cosmetic fillers last from six months to two years or more and can give the appearance of youth with just a 20 minute painless session.

During this Valentines Day event, there will also be specials on Botox, Xeomin and Dysport. These products are used to relax facial wrinkles around the eyes, forehead, lips, chin and neck. Botox helps relieve the tired appearance and frown lines between the eyes. Xeomin and Dysport are similar to Botox but are more affordable. They can also help relieve migraine headaches, TMJ syndrome and excessive underarm perspiration.

Wrinkles are a sign of premature aging caused by excessive sun exposure which can also lead to skin cancer. At this event we will be introducing our newest product, BioCream by Neocutis. BioCream is the latest innovation in skin care developed from human growth factors to deliver skin revitalization. A Swiss company, Neocutis is involved in wound-healing research. They offer products specifically designed for rosacea, anti-aging and skin brightening, to name a few.

Body Oasis Medispa will offer discounts on laser hair removal during the event. Laser hair removal helps eliminate razor burns and nicks after waxing and shaving. The laser painlessly destroys dark hairs and the capillaries which feed the hair root so hair removal is usually permanent.

In addition, free Visia computerized skin analyses will be offered as part of the consultation for the Active FX fractional laser and the AccuLift laser lipo treatments. The Active FX laser removes age spots and wrinkles while tightening the skin of the eyelids and neck, and is also effective at repairing acne scarring. This laser procedure takes about ten minutes and younger looking skin is seen in just a week after the procedure. The AccuLift laser lipo procedure removes the appearance of heavy jowls and double chin to produce a more youthful look. The combination of the Active FX resurfacing laser with the AccuLift laser lipo procedure provides cosmetic results exceeding those of a conventional facelift without the scars, cost or downtime.

Please join Body Oasis and the Southwest Skin and Cancer Institute on February 12th, 2013 and kick off the company's celebration of the Tenth Anniversary. There will be additional discounts on many products and services. Also offered will be refreshments, a drawing for valuable prizes and tours of the facility.
