Shiraz Restaurant Introduces New Vegan Menu Options

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 30, 2013

Shiraz, a notable local Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant group, has banquet halls Glendale clients and banquet halls Sherman Oaks connoisseurs both utilize for a number of special events. For a family gathering, wedding rehearsal dinner or baby shower Glendale moms-to-be will remember forever, Shiraz provides a welcoming and elegant atmosphere.

Now, Shiraz has become the first Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant in the area to serve up completely vegan food options. One example from the menu is the veggie kabob: a skewer of grilled okra, eggplant, carrots, green beans and fancy potatoes. The veggies are paired with a saffron-tomato sauce and plated with a serving of rice.

Guests can also enjoy the veggie kabob as part of a number of other dishes on the Shiraz menu. Veggie albaloo polo pairs the veggie kabob with rice combined with sour cherries. Veggie sabzi polo combines Shiraz's original rice, which is flavored with a mix of cilantro and other herbs, with the veggie kabob. Another dish, veggie shirin polo, pairs the kabob with orange peel rice that is blended with saffron and slivers of almond.

According to the Vegetarian Resource Group, about 25 percent of Americans are considering eliminating or reducing animal products from their diets. A recent article in U.S. News and World Report cited research showing that people eating vegan diets enjoy lower cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure and a healthier body mass index. They also decrease their risk for heart disease and cancer, and they more successfully manage chronic health problems like diabetes.

For people hosting special events in banquet halls Glendale and banquet halls Sherman Oaks, the likelihood of having at least one vegan guest is significant. In 2012, the New York Times dedicated an article to the growing trend of people eating vegan in Southern California. Shiraz has expanded its offerings to provide flavorful, inventive dishes for vegans while maintaining a full menu of meat options for guests who choose a more traditional diet.

Shiraz offers both onsite events and off-site catering. For a wedding, memorial, christening or other event, such as a baby shower Glendale residents would like to share with friends and family, Shiraz can arrange both traditional and vegan options. For example, people who eat any type of diet can enjoy stuffed grape leaves served with both basmati rice and barbecued tomatoes.

For guests looking for a more intimate or focused get-together, Shiraz locations in both Glendale and Sherman Oaks provide an elegant atmosphere for both romantic dinners and business luncheons. As one of the oldest Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurant groups in Los Angeles, Shiraz has also pioneered a delicious Gourmet-to-Go menu for people who want to enjoy healthy Persian cuisine at home.

Shiraz's original Glendale location is at 211 S. Glendale Ave. Guests will find the Sherman Oaks location, which opened more recently, at 15472 Ventura Blvd.
