NICU-Approved Clothes for Premature Babies USA Launch

(PRWEB) April 08, 2013

The Tamiko clothes are specially created for premature and low-birthweight babies who stay in NICUs (neonatal intensive care unit) where special and tiny clothing is needed.

Preterm birth rate is very high in the US, around 12% of all births, and parents have found it hard to find suitable clothing for the tiny babies. The Tamiko clothes are a solution for those parents. And in order to have the clothes available to as many as possible, we have chosen Amazon.com as the first store.

The clothes have been designed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and parents, and the unique design is patent pending.

The clothes are suitable for NICU, where preemies are connected to medical equipment, and have been tested and fitted at a NICU for best results. The garments can be fully opened on front, and have small holes for wires, so threading tubes and wires is very easy, and with minimal disturbance to the preemie. It also makes it a less scary experiment for parents to dress the tiny babies.

Fold-over mittens and socks make the garments even more comfy and help the preemie stay warm.

Healthcare professionals have stated that using these clothes in the NICU will actually make their work easier, because of the easy access for medical equipment.

The clothes come in 2 preemie sizes and newborn size, and hats also come in micro preemie size.

The fabric is 100% cotton and has been specially selected to be as comfortable as possible for the tiny babies. It is the softest youve felt! The fabric is high in quality and natural, with soft seams for preemies extra sensitive skin.

The clothes are washable at hot temperatures, which is ideal for NICU.

Some of the garments have the cutest animal images printed with soft print, and represent love & care.

The products are available on Amazon.com.

The story

The designer, Berglind, was Head of approvals department at LazyTown Entertainment before starting her own business. Tamiko is her second clothing brand, the first is Baby grappling.

The original idea was to add preemie sizes to the Baby grappling brand, but after just a few days of researching the market for preemie clothes, and to find out there was a huge gap in the market, the decision was made to create an independent preemie brand.

The Tamiko clothes were in development for over 2 years before production started. New products will be introduced later this year and the goal is to offer a wide range of products for premature babies.
