Health Food Emporium Owner Says, The Best New Year Resolution is a Promise to Yourself to Achieve Better Health in 2013!

(PRWEB) December 31, 2012

In a recent interview, Gail Bowman, owner of Health Food Emporium, said Everyone is interested in doing better for the new year. But the biggest gift you can give yourself is better health. I have 5 top Resolutions that can help people to get better health for themselves and their families this year.

Here are Ms Bowmans 5 top Resolutions for 2013:

1. Work on losing weight. There is a lot of new research out there to help with losing weight. Researchers have know for several years that Fucoxanthin, the main ingredient in Garden of Lifes Fucothin, aids weight loss. According to a study done in 2007, Japanese researchers found that fucoxanthin induced between 10 and 12 pounds more weight loss compared with placebo over a 16-week period in women who consumed 1,800 calories per day. This study also showed beneficial reductions in visceral body fat. Excess amounts of visceral body fat are linked to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

In addition, according to Gail Bowman, You cant depend on a weight loss supplement alone, a high protein, low carb, low calorie diet in addition to regular exercise will help you on your way to a new, slimmer you this year.

2. Eat better quality, more nutritious foods. In a series of articles on the dangers of fast foods, Dr Mercola explains that fast food, or junk foods, that are so common in our lives today, actually can cause neurological problems, diabetes and obesity in our children! Dr Don Colbert even shows us that there are many easy, fast diet foods that are dangerously high in chemicals and sugar!

So what to do? Ms Bowman says,Look for low sugar, low carb foods made entirely of foods that you can recognize. If you are reading a label and you dont recognize a food, it probably isnt food! Go Organic and grass fed with no added hormones or antibiotics whenever you can. This takes determination, and true dedication, but making fresh veggies the majority of your familys meal, instead of the side dish, actually costs less than buying fast food.

3. Avoid Toxins in your foods and in your environment. Dr Don Colbert recently wrote, here are several steps you can take to decrease the amount of toxins entering your body. Begin by learning which products are safer for your skin and hair care routine. According to Ms Bowman, you can start by educating yourself about the toxins in your household cleaners, skin and hair care products, and in normal household items like fluorescent light bulbs.

4. Do some sort of exercise every day. In a recent article, John Abdo, a Fitness Trainer, wrote, There have been studies showing that regular exercise over long periods of time reduces the risk of heart attacks, improves lung function, lowers blood glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, and improves muscle and bone strength with advancing age. These studies suggest that exercise can extend lifespan...

Ms Bowman says, Exercise doesnt have to mean a gym membership. It just means being in motion. So, exercise is cleaning the house, walking, biking, swimming, playing with the grandkids, gardening, etc. Try to be moving in a way that gets your heart rate up and gets you out of your usual rut, for at least 1 hour every day.

5. Reduce your stress. In a recent article, Dr Mercola said, One of the most common problems I hear from patients is that they felt fatigued, anxious or depressed. And they often have trouble sleeping -- even though they are exhausted.

According to Ms Bowman, almost all of us are over stressed these days, but we can consciously make choices that will reduce our stress. She says, Eat healthy meals and feed your body so you can fight off the effects of stress; Consider taking herbal supplements that help your body to respond in a healthy way to cortisol; get exercise every day; find a job that is less stressful or that gives you more feelings of achievement; and set out to reduce your debt load this year, not increase it as so many of us tend to do.

By choosing to improve our lifestyle, our diet and our financial position, we can make 2013 the 'best of years'. This year, make and keep resolutions that will improve your life by improving your health.
