Childrens Obesity Fund Helps Train Healthy Lambs with the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization

Beverly Hills, California (PRWEB) May 25, 2013

The Childrens Obesity Fund and co-founders Dr. Michael Omidi and Julian Omidi recently lent their support to the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization for the purpose of creating a fitness program at Precious Lamb Preschool in Southern California. The KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization is the nonprofit arm of KID-FIT.com and provides preschools around the world with the tools for creating child-appropriate fitness and nutrition programs.

Children must be encouraged to play and exercise, as well as be consistently given the proper nutrition in order to facilitate healthy growth, says Dr. Michael Omidi, co-founder of the Childrens Obesity Fund. Studies have shown that children with a healthy relationship with food and activity, have markedly lower risk for obesity, heart disease, diabetes and other preventable, behavior-related illnesses. The KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization provides preschools with the training and the resources the schools need to implement physical education in the optimal way, and the Childrens Obesity Fund is honored to facilitate Precious Lamb Preschool receiving these services.

According to the government program founded by first lady Michelle Obama, Lets Move (letsmove.gov), childhood obesity rates in the United States have tripled in the last 30 years. One in every three children is overweight or obese, and the numbers are even higher for African American and Hispanic kids. Lailanie Cruz, Executive Director of Precious Lamb states, According to a study done by First 5 LA, homeless children are more likely to be overweight and/or obese, so the gift and implementation of the Kid-Fit program to us is very much welcomed and appreciated. The Childrens Obesity Fund provides information and resources to parents, educators, and other role models so they in turn can help children make healthy choices.

The KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization (http://www.kid-fit.org) was established as a non-profit division of KID-FIT founded by Michele Silence, a certified educator, personal trainer and fitness consultant. After the birth of her son, she wanted to make sure that there were adequate early fitness programs available in local preschools. KID-FIT provides preschools and daycare facilities with tested, scientifically evaluated early physical education curriculum. By providing children as young as two with the proper exercise routines and nutrition, KID-FIT hopes to slow or even prevent the progression of obesity related illnesses in the population of economically under served children.

Precious Lamb Preschool, Inc. (PLP) is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 and committed to providing children and families facing homelessness with free, early education and care. PLP serves families in the Long Beach area who have experienced domestic violence, crisis pregnancy, substance abuse and are homeless. The families are residents of shelters or transitional programs. At no cost to the family, the young children benefit from a full day of developmentally appropriate preschool program while parents participate in their rehabilitation, job training or educational programs. Co-founded by Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, the Childrens Obesity Fund (http://www.childrensobesityfund.org) hopes to help reverse the trend of rising obesity rates in America. The goal of the non-profit charity is to help people fully understand the obesity issue and its dire impacts on individuals and society as a whole -- and to use that knowledge to encourage children to grow up strong and healthy. Childrens Obesity Fund partners with other organizations to educate and support parents, educators and others so that we can all work together to raise healthy, active, social, and happy children. While the organization does not accept donations, it does encourage direct contributions of money and talents to the associations featured on our website. Childrens Obesity Fund is on Facebook as well as Google+, Twitter, and Pinterest.
