Dr. Scott Haupt, one of Utah's most experienced plastic surgeons, recently introduced the new FDA-approved "teardrop" breast augmentation procedure at his Murray, Utah practice. These new silicone-fill breast implants approved by the FDA in early 2013 provide breast augmentation for patients seeking a more natural look than traditional round implants. Dr. Haupt is one of the first surgeons in Utah to offer this procedure.
Also commonly referred to as "gummy bear" silicone implants, the structure of the silicone gel gives the implant a better shape. Contrary to round silicone breast implants, the teardrop shape still allows for augmentation of the breast without altering its natural shape.

While the teardrop implants provide a more anatomical shape, it requires a skilled surgeon to place them correctly. Proper placement requires the implant to be texturize so that it adheres in the breast tissue pocket accurately and doesn't shift or rotate.
"Our new teardrop breast implants are a great option for many women, but they may not be a good option for certain builds or body types," said Dr. Haupt. "It's important that those interested in these implants consult with a skilled surgeon first to get their expert option on the type of implants that will best compliment their look."
