The Jackson Companies in Myrtle Beach Selects the ADP Vitality Program to Enhance Employee Wellness Initiatives

Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) April 12, 2013

The Jackson Companies in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is partnering with ADP to help empower their teammates (employees) to live the healthiest life possible by implementing the ADP Vitality wellness program. Its an interactive, personalized wellness program and a new addition to The Jackson Companies existing wellness program, Teammates Getting into Fitness (TGIF). This new online tool is an additional benefit being provided to all of TJCs 170 full-time teammates.

For several years, The Jackson Companies has been committed to helping its teammates achieve both good health and well-being. We believe the most effective means of achieving both is individual empowerment the power for each teammate to learn and improve habits to live a healthy lifestyle, comments Dennis Wade, CEO of The Jackson Companies. We value our employees, our teammates, and we want them to feel their best. When they feel their best, they are happier and it shows.

Adoption of the ADP Vitality wellness program is a multi-year initiative and commitment for The Jackson Companies, which will encourage its teammates to get active, involved and rewarded. It focuses on four key areas: education, fitness, prevention and nutrition. Each area offers ways for teammates to earn points and track their progress at their own pace. Teammates start with the ADP Vitality Virtual Health Risk Assessment. The online program helps teammates set goals and recommends ways to achieve those goals. The ultimate goal is to mentor teammates about healthy living, but a bi-product of participation is saving money. Teammates who engage in the program will help lower their portion of the healthcare premium.

As small businesses continue to struggle with rising healthcare costs, The Jackson Companies is working to take proactive measures. Ron Welchel, Human Resources Director of The Jackson Companies, explains, Our healthcare costs are not sustainable, so we are giving teammates the tools and support to help them learn and become more accountable for their health.

Participation can be a challenge with any voluntary program, however, many teammates have embraced the endeavor to live healthier, and even challenged one another. In 2011, the TGIF program began with a little healthy competition that included a points system for tracking participation in education, fitness and even weight loss. During two separate TGIF challenges 119 teammates lost 319.5 inches and 504.8 pounds.

We see growing demand for incentive-based wellness programs as both employers and employees seek new ways to reduce their health expenses, said Regina Lee, Division President, ADP. Online, interactive platforms like the ADP Vitality wellness program also help drive employee participation by enabling them to work towards personal wellness goals when and where its most convenient.

The ADP Vitality wellness program dovetails in with other TGIF tools and events coming in April and May designed for The Jackson Companies teammates including a Health & Wellness Fair, National Walk @ Lunch Day, Free Skin Cancer Screenings for Teammates, and the Teammate Appreciation Breakfast.
