Nantucket MA (PRWEB) May 31, 2013

Dharma Yoga Nantucket today announces the second annual Nantucket Yoga Festival will be held July 12-14, 2013 on Nantucket, MA, recently named the number one island in the world by National Geographic. Offering classes, workshops, and a vendor marketplace open to the public, the festival will feature more than 20 internationally acclaimed instructors.

Designed as a community event, the Nantucket Yoga Festival will bring together world-class yoga instructors, wellness experts, and healthy living guides, to give participants a unique and fulfilling experience they are sure to remember for a lifetime, promises Joann Burnham, festival producer and director of Dharma Yoga Nantucket. "My hope is that by coming together to learn from the many renown teachers, participants will be inspired to make positive changes in their life, in their community and ultimately, in the world," added Burnham.

Teachers at the festival will include legendary yoga master, Sri Dharma Mittra, known as a "teacher's teacher", as he has taught hundreds of thousands of students over nearly a half century. He is also the founder of Dharma Yoga New York Center, the longest-running school in New York, NY, and has created more than 300 popular yoga postures. Other yogis participating include Sadie Nardini, host of Verias Rock your Yoga television show, Devarshi Steven Hartman, Dean of the Kripalu School of Yoga, Taylor Wells, author and co-founder of Prana Power Yoga, top Wanderlust instructors, The YogaSlackers, and a Boston favorite, David Magone, founder of Pranavayu Yoga.

A variety of complimentary community classes, taught by local Nantucket teachers, will also be offered on Saturday and Sunday 12:45-1:45pm to provide the opportunity for anyone interested to take part in the festival. Also offered at no charge, the vendor marketplace held throughout the weekend, will feature artists, clothing, yoga wear and a wellness area offering massage, astrological readings, and Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis.

I think that here in the USA is the best place on the planet for the practice of yoga, shared Sri Dharma Mittra. Without much effort, everything thats needed is right at our fingertips. The best teachers on the planet are here, there is abundant healthy food, there are yoga schools everywhere, through the Internet, most of the scriptures can be delivered overnight to our door, and some can even afford to hire a teacher for one-on-one private instruction. All the distractions and temptations in our way are really a challenge for us, and, in conquering them all, we have the chance to put our discipline to the test. Isnt that a blessing? added Mittra.

Festival workshops will take place at Bartletts Ocean View Farm, Nantucket Island's oldest and largest family-owned farm. The classes will be held under a tent, protecting participants from the elements, yet offering ocean views and fresh salt air, for a truly one-of-a kind experience. Bartletts Farm will also serve as host for a farm to table dinner on Saturday evening. Designed to inspire and set the tone for the weekend, the opening night celebration on Friday, July 12th at The Westmoor Club, will feature a live performances with Dr. Dreaming Bear Baraka Kaanan, the YogaSlackers, and performance artist, Dana Wilde, as well as local organic food prepared by chef Peter Wallace paired with wine from Cisco Brewery.
