Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust Launches a Moisturising Cream That Benefits Everybody

(PRWEB UK) 25 April 2013

The cream was first used at Salisbury District Hospital over 20 years ago. It has proved so popular that it has now been renamed as My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream, repackaged in new attractive 100ml tubes and made available for general sale through a new website.

The cream is soothing and users have found it calming to use as a moisturiser on irritated or dry skin.

Malcolm Cassells Director of Finance and Procurement commented We are sure that people will find it a very attractive product for many reasons. The cream contains 5% pure sunflower oil and has no parabens. These are chemicals used as preservatives, and are man-made and not naturally occurring. The cream has not been tested on animals and comes in two varieties, unscented and a lavender scented cream.

The venture is one of the first of its kind within the NHS and profits made from the sale of the cream will go back to support patient care in the hospital.

More follows

It was over twenty years ago that pharmacists and clinical scientists in Salisbury developed a moisturising cream to help with post-operative skin care in burns and plastic surgery. The cream has been used on patients ever since in many clinical areas, and sold on-site to patients who asked for it to be made available after their discharge.

Last year the Trust decided to make the cream more available to the general public and My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream was born and now launched this year.

Malcolm Cassells said; "The launch of MyTrusty Little Sunflower Cream is another exciting opportunity for Salisbury District Hospital to share one of its innovations with a much wider population. We know the cream is really liked and is beneficial to patients and staff, so making this available to more people is great news. At the same time the income generated will be very helpful in supporting patient care in the hospital."
