Lean On Life Supports New Research Revealing Heart Benefits and Prolonged Life from CoQ10

TORONTO, ON (PRWEB) June 05, 2013

Lean On Life, a leading healthy lifestyle website with the latest on weight loss, nutrition, and fitness is supporting new research revealing the major discovery on heart failure risk and the supplement, coenzyme q10.

As Lean On Life reports (http://www.leanonlife.com/how-to-live-longer/), there has not been statistically significant research of any effective treatment on heart failure mortality. In a recent double-blind study, conducted by lead author Professor Svend Aage Mortensen, the co-enzyme q10 (CoQ10) has been found to significantly decrease your chance of heart failure.

Although CoQ10 is vital to survival, many people are quite deficient in this vitamin-like substance. It is an antioxidant that occurs naturally in human bodies and acts as an electron carrier to other particles. It is therefore responsible for the production of energy.

Since CoQ10 is found in every cell in the body, the deficiency worsens as the severity of heart failure increases. The two-year long study followed 420 patients with severe heart failure. Of the CoQ10 receiving group, there was a 14 percent heart failure rate in patients whereas the placebo group had a 25 percent heart failure rate. This is indicative that CoQ10 reduced the risk of a major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) by half.

Moreover, the study shows that CoQ10 reduced the rate of death by half for all other causes as well. The study also revealed that CoQ10 significantly lowered the risk of cardiovascular mortality and hospitalizations due to heart failure.

As Lean On Life reports, the new study is a major advance in preventing major cardiovascular complications. This breakthrough is extremely significant since heart disease remains the leading the killer among Americans.

Lean On Life Nutritionist, Michelle Schiffman, advises moderation when supplementing with CoQ10. An excessive amount of CoQ10 may not have major side effects; however, it can lead to insomnia, diarrhea, or mild stomach pain. It is best to talk to your doctor about the right doses when supplementing with CoQ10, Schiffman says. However, there are many healthy food alternatives that contain high levels of CoQ10, such as oily fish, poultry, whole grains, nuts, and fruits, that would be a great addition to a healthy lifestyle, she adds.
