Dr. Speron Announces the Release of Exparel for All Cosmetic Surgery for Long-lasting Pain Control

Park Ridge, IL (PRWEB) May 31, 2013

Exparel is a local analgesic that is used during surgical procedures and relieves pain for up to 72 hours. The procedure consists of administration at the close of cosmetic surgery. There is no need for catheters or pumps when using Exparel and there is also a reduction of opioid and narcotic requirements.

Follow up recommendations includes the prescribing of oxycodone or acetaminophen tablets. It has also been found that the administration of Exparel does not add any significant time when compared to using an elastomeric pump.

Clinical trials have found that patients awaken from surgery without any pain, are able to go home after two hours and feel comfortable after receiving Exparel, says Dr. Sam Speron, Chicago plastic surgeon.

Side effects of Exparel that were found in clinical trials may be nausea, constipation, and vomiting.

Dr. Speron is the founder and medical director of Dr. Speron Plastic Surgery. He is board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery and an active member of both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).
