The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to New Study Revealing Behaviour of Patients Who Have Suffered a Stroke or Heart Disease

(PRWEB UK) 25 April 2013

According to The Spec, more than 14 percent of patients fail to adopt any healthy habits after suffering a stroke or with heart disease. Many other patients do not adopt enough of a healthier lifestyle in order to avoid reoccurring illnesses and disease. The study looked at three main health lifestyle choices, avoiding or quitting smoking, consuming a healthy diet and taking regular physical exercise. The findings were made from 154,000 adults across 178 countries with varying incomes over a seven year period. Only 4 percent adopted all three healthy lifestyle choices.

It seems that changing old habits such as stopping smoking, taking regular exercise and adopting a healthy diet are requirements that are difficult to do. Hypnotherapy can be used as a complementary approach to breaking bad habits such as smoking and overeating.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is one of the most established hypnotherapy directories in the UK, listing qualified and experienced hypnotherapists throughout the British Isles that can help clients with a range of issues including smoking, weight loss and anxiety. It is possible to use a hypnotist to help make major lifestyle choices such as quitting smoking or changing eating habits forever as a representative explained, The desire to quit needs to be present in order for hypnotherapy to work alongside it and in turn strengthen and reinforce the determination to quit smoking or change eating habits forever.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to Study Revealing that Women Favour Weight Loss than a Pay Rise

According to Yahoo News, new research has showed that more than one third of British women would rather lose weight on their diet than gain

The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy offers advice on how to avoid the pressures of the workplace treat

Wallington, Surrey (PRWEB UK) 11 May 2013

The workplace is often awash with sugary treats brought in by colleagues to celebrate special occasions, and the more people in an office, the more special occasions there are. Some offices even have cream cakes on Friday policy to celebrate the end of the week.

Are these treats really treats or are they really the enemy within?

For many weight loss clients of The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy, these workplace treats are often overlooked as a problem. But the almost subliminal pressure these workplace occasions apply can cause clients new behaviours to be severely tested.

Its not just cakes in the office but often biscuits and chocolate are in plentiful supply as people share their treats in a generous way around the office. But for someone on a healthy weight loss programme, being part of a colleagues generosity is something best avoided.

A recent report from The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, show that two thirds of adults are obese or overweight (BMI over 25). So the chances are that two thirds of the people in the office would be better off avoiding the treats too.

Paul White, the behavioural change specialist at the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, said Hypnotherapy for weight loss is very effective at changing behaviours around food and can, to a certain degree, help you avoid the subconscious sabotage of colleagues, friends and family. Sometimes, however, the continual barrage of temptations in the office can threaten to overwhelm the clients fledgling behaviours.

At The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy in Surrey they seek to change their clients relationship with food. The hypnotherapist will work with the client to change the way they view food, even the way they think about food, so the client eats to live, rather than lives to eat. By doing so they remove the guilt, reduce consumption and feel happier around food.

Whilst running their weight loss programme at the Institute, they have come across virtually every type of inappropriate behaviour around food and have strategies to deal with all of them. The great thing about using something like hypnotherapy is that it does not matter if the client is dieting or not, as it works on the behaviours and when they change, the food consumption changes naturally.

By seeking to replace any negative thoughts or behaviours with positive ones, clients begin to see changes with eating habits and improvements in feelings of well being. They will then not only feel better about the food they consume, but also begin to feel happier.

Globally more people die from being overweight and obese than from being underweight warns The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy

Wallington, Surrey (PRWEB UK) 12 May 2013

According to a report published by The European Association for the Study of Obesity in April, approximately 65% of the worlds population inhabit countries where being overweight and obese kills more people than being underweight.

According to the World Health Organisation the prevalence of obesity has tripled since the 1980s. In many European countries 50% of the population are overweight or obese. In the UK the latest figures from The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges show that two thirds of adults are obese or overweight (BMI over 25).

In 2008, globally 1.5 billion adults aged 20 and over, were overweight with an estimated 500 million adults worldwide being obese (over 200 million men and nearly 300 million women).

The World Health Organisation has confirmed obesity as the largest health problem globally in adults, which is becoming a more serious problem than malnutrition across the globe.

In the majority of European countries, being overweight and obese are thought to be responsible for about 80% of cases of type 2 diabetes, 35% of heart disease and 55% of high blood pressure among adults.

Although this problem seems to be growing rapidly there is a simple solution. For the majority of people losing weight is about behavioural change and the reason most people seem unable to achieve this is that they cannot maintain the behavioural change long term.

Hypnotherapy for weight loss not only helps people make the initial behavioural change but, as a rule, the changes that are made tend to be long lasting. This allows weight loss clients to get used to the new behaviours and after a while they become normal behaviours.

Weight loss hypnotherapy is about creating new behaviours that fit in with the lifestyle of the client. Exercising and salads dont suit everyone and the hypnotherapy weight loss programme will adapt, depending on the needs of the client.

Paul White, the behavioural change specialist at the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, said Many people we see want to lose weight without committing large chunks of their time to exercising. Its important to understand that exercise is important for health. However, it is not required to lose weight. We would always encourage our clients to exercise but for the vast majority of our clients, they either dont have the time or they are too heavy to exercise easily.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to new Study detailing how long Consumers Spent Exercising and Making Healthy Meals

(PRWEB UK) 13 May 2013

According to a new study, most people will either exercise or make healthy meals, but not both over the same period of time. The study which looked at over 112,000 American adults investigated how much time people spent exercising and preparing healthy meals and noted that only 16 percent of men and 12 percent of women had completed physical exercise as well as dieting. On average, when compared to non dieters, men took roughly 19 minutes of exercise and women around 9 minutes. In addition, the study looked at the time both sexes took to prepare meals men approximately 17 minutes and women on average 44 minutes, more than double that of men. The study concluded that those who spent more time on either area exercise or food preparation the less they spent on the other, suggesting that consumers are only prepared to spend a certain amount of time on healthy activities.

As obesity continues to be a problem in the UK it is important to investigate the way people feel about healthy activities and find routes to encourage people to stay fit. Alongside this, it is also worth noting complementary therapies that can help weight loss such as hypnotherapy.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is a hypnotherapist directory that gives details of hypnotherapists based throughout the United Kingdom making it easy for consumers to book hypnotherapy sessions to help with a range of problems including weight, habits, phobias and anxiety. To date, the Councils hypnotist members have helped thousands of people lose weight as a representative explained, Hypnotherapy can aid weight loss by using two main methods, the first is using a hypnoband similar to that of a gastric band which mentally shrinks the stomach or the second, which comprises of various tactics to help change eating habits and attitudes to food.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to new Research about Weight Loss

(PRWEB UK) 14 May 2013

According to Zee News, a new study has shown that green tea extract in tandem with an additional compound could be effective for body weight control and type 2 diabetes. The study found the active constituents of green tea, which have been shown to inhibit glucose and liquid uptake, could help with weight loss and to control glucose uptake for diabetes sufferers. Results showed that when green tea extract was given with polyethylene glycol to both diabetic and non diabetic mice, there was a huge reduction in body mass and weight, insulin resistance and glucose intolerance.

Such findings demonstrate the potential effectiveness of green tea on humans especially if they are following a healthy lifestyle and diet. The results are something that medical advisors and general practitioners have been recommending for thousands of years dating back to traditional Chinese medicine.

In the UK alone obesity has become a problem of epidemic proportion and whilst the National Health Service and Government are doing their upmost to try and reduce the problem, some are still struggling to lose weight and keep in shape. A complementary approach that has helped hundreds lose weight and keep healthy is through the use of hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapists work to change the eating habits of the client and to help them to lose weight by realigning the way they approach food. Combining a healthy lifestyle including drinking green tea and attending hypnotherapy sessions could help clients lose weight.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy has been making it possible for consumers to contact hypnotherapists throughout Great Britain offering a hypnotherapist directory for those looking to book sessions in their local area on a range of topics including stopping smoking, controlling panic attacks and losing weight.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy expects to see more clients looking to control their weight as the year progresses.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to Statistics Showing Weight Loss is More Effective if Carried out Through Weight Loss Support Groups

(PRWEB UK) 20 May 2013

According to The Telegraph, slimmers who attempt to lose weight alone rather than joining a slimming group lose less weight. The American study showed that those who joined a slimming group lost five times more weight than those who did not. The study looked at dieters at two intervals three and six months and found that in both cases the slimmers had lost more weight if they had joined a slimming organisation. As part of the study, 147 people joined a sliming group and 145 dieted alone.

Lead researcher added, The difference in weight loss between the two groups is compelling. Whilst people in the Weight Watchers group demonstrated significant weight loss at six months, people in the self help group started to re gain weight. Over time, it is unlikely that DIY diets are successful.

As obesity becomes a growing problem in the UK many are looking for alternative ways to lose weight either by joining weight loss groups or by using complementary therapies such as hypnotherapy.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is one of the UKs most established hypnotherapist directories offering members of the public the opportunity to find hypnotherapists in their local area and seek help for various issues including stopping smoking, dealing with anxiety or panic attacks and of course, weight loss.

To date qualified and professional members of the council have helped hundreds of thousands of people with problems as a representative explained, Weight loss can be difficult to continue alone and with no boost of determination or empathy like you would receive from other slimming members in a group. Hypnotherapy can help boost this if you plan to go it alone or add to the chance of even more weight loss if you are already a member of a weight loss group.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to New Study Detailing the Effect of Pre-packaged Diet Foods

(PRWEB UK) 23 May 2013

According to Reuters UK, in a head to head comparison with those who ate a traditional diet, people who ate a diet of portion controlled pre packaged foods lost almost twice as much weight as those who only used advice on how to reduce calories. The study concluded that the more freedom a dieter has with their portion size and the food they eat the less of a chance they have of losing weight. Those who ate focused and bespoke diet meals have more of a chance of losing weight.

A leading nutrition expert added, When theres less structure, then participants are making more decisions, and I think too often theyre making decisions that undermine their goal to stick to a calorie target.

Results showed that those who stuck to the prepared meals lost on average 16.5 pounds and the regular dieters who prepared their own food lost 8.4 pounds on average.

Whilst some who are overweight are doing their best to lose weight through traditional methods such as dieting and changing what they eat, others are trying complementary methods such as hypnotherapy.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is an online hypnotherapist directory giving consumers access to local hypnotherapist in their area throughout the UK. The councils members are professional and qualified and have helped hundreds of thousands of people with varying issues including habits, phobias, anxiety and weight loss as a representative explained, Losing weight can be a long, hard process and whilst methods used in the study mentioned can be helpful for some, using a fresh, unique approach and changing eating habits from within the brain can be more effective for some.

The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy reveals the top 3 long term motivators for successful weight loss hypnotherapy

Wallington, Surrey, UK (PRWEB UK) 25 May 2013

Women typically go on diets or health kicks 5 times a year and men twice a year. But the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy says that their reasons for doing so are too short term which leads to only temporary weight loss and then a regain of all the weight lost and often more on top. This type of behaviour is what is generally described as Yo-Yo dieting.

By using hypnotherapy for weight loss this Yo-Yo dieting can be avoided. However, one of the first things that has to be adjusted is normally their motivation. For some people that is already in place and isnt needed. However, for the vast majority the motivation is what makes the difference between sustainable weight loss and return to Yo-Yo dieting.

In the report they disclose the top 3 motivators to successful weight loss hypnotherapy and what triggers the motivation in some clients. Other strong motivators exist such as a beach body for a summer holiday, weddings and other special events, but these are too short term and do not allow new behaviours to bed in successfully.

By using their weight loss hypnotherapy programme it not only helps people make the initial behavioural change but, as a rule, because the changes are made at a subconscious level, they tend to be longer lasting. This allows weight loss clients to get used to the new behaviours and after a while they become normal behaviours.

Paul White, the behavioural change specialist at the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, said Motivation is the key aspect behind long lasting weight loss. The beach body is too short-term a goal, especially as it is all too common for people to report that they put back on all they lost and more whilst actually on holiday, which means they lose all the advances they have made in just a couple of weeks. This is very de-motivating and does not bode well for the coming months and years.

Contrast that with a recent client that we had been working with for a while to change behaviours that said Back from holiday, first thing I did was jump on the scales (and no they didn't break!!). Surprisingly lost 2lb, not sure how but I'm not complaining!! This sort of statement is not unusual when clients use our hypnotherapy for weight loss programme. Because the change is in their thought processes and mental responses and this causes changes in their behaviours.

By replacing negative behaviours with positive ones, clients start to see changes with eating habits and improvements in feelings of well being. They will then not only feel better about the food they consume, but also begin to feel happier.

At the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy in Surrey they seek to change their clients relationship with food. Losing weight can be a different experience says The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy

Wallington, Surrey, UK (PRWEB UK) 29 May 2013

The reason people expect that is because in the past they have experienced those types of feelings and it is reasonable to expect them in the future. After all, by definition they will be reducing food intake so feeling hungry is to be expected, or is it?

We all know that if someone is overweight, the reason is they have almost certainly overeaten in the past. Overeating means taking in too much food so it is fair to say that the body does not need the extra food, and now the overeating is probably a conditioned response. This means your body has got used to the level of food and now expects it.

Hypnotherapy for weight loss re-conditions your mind to expect less food at a subconscious level. This change has a fundamental effect on the way you think about food.

When less food is expected, the body becomes satisfied quicker and normally there is less interest in food. This is because when less food is expected the brain produces hormones that allow a full feeling to be sent earlier.

The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy uses proven hypnotherapeutic techniques that re-educates the brain into believing that smaller portions are enough. So, where in the past the brain might have created the desire for larger portions, or even seconds and perhaps desserts, the re-educated brain no longer craves them.

When hypnotherapy for weight is used, the desire for large amounts of food is dramatically reduced.
