TrekDesk Treadmill Desks Helps Those Struggling with Simultaneous Diet and Exercise Routine

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 22, 2013

There is a multitude of diet and exercise myths falling out of favor, thanks to recent scientific studies. This week another myth that has been exposed: the belief that weight loss is more effective when individuals concentrate their efforts on diet first then add exercise at a later date. New research from Stanford Universitys School of Medicine proves that the simultaneous introduction of diet and exercise is the most effective measure for weight loss. However, the study participants, reflecting the largest challenge to a majority of Americans, cited the difficulty of finding adequate amounts of free time to exercise. TrekDesk Treadmill Desk was designed specifically with this purpose in mind.

Abby King, a professor of health research and policy and medicine at Stanford, along with several colleagues, published the study findings in this months journal of the Annals of Behavioral Medicine as reported by Medical News Today (http://bit.ly/ZfEFU3).

Conventional dietary wisdom always held that if an individual could only choose between diet or exercise that changing dietary habits was more beneficial. The Stanford study proved otherwise.

200 participants, aged 45 and over, who were neither exercising regularly or adhering to healthy diets, were split into four groups. All four groups received coaching via telephone and were followed for a period of one year. The coaching mirrored current exercise (150 minutes of moderate exercise weekly) and dietary (5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, saturated fats comprising no more than 10% of total dietary intake).

Group One was assigned diet and exercise changes. Group Two received dietary recommendations and then exercise changes after a few months. Group Three was advised to exercise first with dietary changes implemented in later months. Group Four served as the control and were only offered coaching on managing stress.

Group One showed the most significant results, proving the combination of diet and exercise superior for meeting weight loss goals. Also Group Two illustrated better results than Group Three showing that exercise trumped diet in conditions where an individual only implemented one course of action.

The challenge for most Americans is finding the time to fit in a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate exercise. Long commutes and sedentary home and work environments have rendered a majority motionless throughout most of the day. TrekDesk Treadmill Desk offers a solution to this dilemma.

Designed to fit any existing treadmill, TrekDesk treadmill desk is an affordable, full sized, height adjustable workstation that allows individuals the opportunity to gain the necessary amount of daily exercise to lose weight, maintain health, reduce stress, prevent disease, strengthen muscles, boost mood and productivity, without requiring additional time during the day or extra motivation.

Americans spend billions every year on diet related products that for the most part are useless, stated Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk Treadmill Desk. This study shows the importance of combining at least the minimal amount of exercise with dietary changes for effective weight loss. Even better are the extreme health benefits gained that are not a part of this study.
