The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy reveals the top 3 long term motivators for successful weight loss hypnotherapy

Wallington, Surrey, UK (PRWEB UK) 25 May 2013

Women typically go on diets or health kicks 5 times a year and men twice a year. But the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy says that their reasons for doing so are too short term which leads to only temporary weight loss and then a regain of all the weight lost and often more on top. This type of behaviour is what is generally described as Yo-Yo dieting.

By using hypnotherapy for weight loss this Yo-Yo dieting can be avoided. However, one of the first things that has to be adjusted is normally their motivation. For some people that is already in place and isnt needed. However, for the vast majority the motivation is what makes the difference between sustainable weight loss and return to Yo-Yo dieting.

In the report they disclose the top 3 motivators to successful weight loss hypnotherapy and what triggers the motivation in some clients. Other strong motivators exist such as a beach body for a summer holiday, weddings and other special events, but these are too short term and do not allow new behaviours to bed in successfully.

By using their weight loss hypnotherapy programme it not only helps people make the initial behavioural change but, as a rule, because the changes are made at a subconscious level, they tend to be longer lasting. This allows weight loss clients to get used to the new behaviours and after a while they become normal behaviours.

Paul White, the behavioural change specialist at the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, said Motivation is the key aspect behind long lasting weight loss. The beach body is too short-term a goal, especially as it is all too common for people to report that they put back on all they lost and more whilst actually on holiday, which means they lose all the advances they have made in just a couple of weeks. This is very de-motivating and does not bode well for the coming months and years.

Contrast that with a recent client that we had been working with for a while to change behaviours that said Back from holiday, first thing I did was jump on the scales (and no they didn't break!!). Surprisingly lost 2lb, not sure how but I'm not complaining!! This sort of statement is not unusual when clients use our hypnotherapy for weight loss programme. Because the change is in their thought processes and mental responses and this causes changes in their behaviours.

By replacing negative behaviours with positive ones, clients start to see changes with eating habits and improvements in feelings of well being. They will then not only feel better about the food they consume, but also begin to feel happier.

At the Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy in Surrey they seek to change their clients relationship with food. The hypnotherapist will work with the client to change the way they view food, even the way they think about food, so the client eats to live, rather than lives to eat. By doing so they remove the guilt, reduce consumption and feel happier around food.

Paul White has been Chairman of the National Council for Hypnotherapy for five years. He has been a Director of The Surrey Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy for 11 years. He has a special interest in weight control and problem behaviours (addictions).
