The Journey is the Destination: Walking Holidays In California

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 03, 2013

Walking and Trekking place to place has long been a pastime for many Europeans. It is embedded in their culture. Germans and Brits enjoy getting out the walking sticks and ambling in nature with friends and family whenever possible. The most popular and established Inn to inn walks are in Europe, but some are sprouting up in the Americas. There are now trips in Northern California - most importantly, there is now a way to complete a comfortable 4-8 consecutive day self-guided trek on gorgeous coastal and forested trails in the San Francisco Bay Area in Summer/Fall of 2013! This is a perfect trip for active people who would like to see some of the city and to get to know the unique protected lands and towns across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Lynn and Jeanne Berry are long distance walkers. Lynn and his wife fell in love over walking. They walk together for a few weeks at a time theyve been all around England, Scotland, Ireland and France on separate trips.

They enjoy seeing a place every foot, every yard - somehow becoming a part of wherever they go. Good for Mind, Body and Soul, says Jeanne. Plenty of fresh air, deep breaths and time in nature and exercise with low impact/stress on the body. Luggage is couriered ahead, so one carries only what is needed for the day - a jacket, maps and some snacks.

It feels great to overcome the challenge of walking 7-15 miles per day and at the end of every day you feel rejuvenated and a sense of accomplishment. Jeanne adds, In a new place, I am a different kind of tourist. Its more intimate and in the moment. We like a plan, but we also like to be spontaneous.

Walking in nature has shown to have positive effects on the brain - lowering the risk of dementia, and increasing the size of the hippocampus (memory). Long distance walking will bring a person back to center, will clear one's head, and will offer deep contentment.

Lynn loves to sample all of the local fare and beer along the way guilt-free, of course. He adds, The locals that you meet along the way make the walks also, interesting food, accommodations, villages, and pubs.and adventures in between.

West Marin is a very unique place that is hard to access for tourists. And if they do make it over, they are sightseeing from their cars on Highway 1 and parking at the Muir Woods National Monument. Visitors are not getting the best experience that they could furthermore, they were encouraging traffic and road building in ecologically sensitive places. There was a need to create a different way to see beautiful San Francisco - a low impact, outdoor experience that included authentic enjoyment of the extraordinary nature, culture and characters of Marin County and beyond.

Inn To End knits together long time favorite trails and Inns in West Marin. The first walk, the Redwood Walk was born. Three seasons later, Inn To End now has four available Walks spanning 3-8 days, and has had many happy clients who came from all over the continent. Lynn and Jeanne give the Redwood walk five stars, A gorgeous, well planned, comfortable trip.

All Inn To End walks start in San Francisco and head across the Golden Gate Bridge and bayside sailing town of Sausalito. The custom route map guides up and out, through a complex network of alleyways, historic steps; between houses of the rich and famous that boast views of the city, bay and bridges. Once at the top, one is amongst the chaparral, and redwoods, quail, deer, hawks and coyotes. The air smells of coastal sage and salty ocean breeze. 'Views galore,' in the decent hike to the sleepy village of Muir Beach and to the lone building on Highway 1 which happens to be a boutique Inn, styled as a 16th century English Pub. The next day, the journey may continue up the coast to Stinson Beach, to Inverness, to Point Reyes and Olema, or may climb to the top of Mount Tamalpais and find oneself among majestic redwood giants in a foggy forest perched in a nest high above the picturesque hills, ocean, and city by the bay.

We are now accepting reservations for 2013. The journey is the destination: No holiday compares to walking Inn to End. Book today at http://www.inntoend.com.
