Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists Annual Meeting

New York, New York (PRWEB) April 10, 2013

The Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists (SPSSCS) will celebrate its 19th Annual Meeting in New York City with an exciting program that encompasses all aspects of skin care management featuring presentations by plastic surgeons, industry experts and skin care experts. Meeting courses will cover everything from permanent makeup to laser safety, and everything in between.

The meeting offers educational seminars and sessions for nurses, aestheticians and other trained skin care specialists working in the offices of plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Also featured are exhibits from companies manufacturing the latest products for medically-supervised skin care.

This years skin care meeting is jam-packed full of science driven courses and panels, says SPSSCS President-Elect and Program Chair, Abbey Helton. As Skin Care Specialists we partner with patients to assist them toward their aesthetic goals by collaboratively developing a treatment plan that takes into account their financial resources and lifestyle. Our meeting content offers skin care specialists the tools and knowledge they need to incorporate positive change to their practices and to help make them thriving and profitable no matter their location, size and support.

Two highlights from Skin Care 2013 include:

For the first time ever, the Skin Care Meeting will include multiple live chemical peel demonstrations. During a breakout session, four skincare companies will review application techniques, strategies for getting the best results and allow the skin care specialists the ability to experience these peels firsthand.

Another highlight of this years meeting will be a comprehensive course taught by some of the countrys leading plastic surgeons on non-invasive skincare options. New technology and data will be presented as well including presentations on biostimulatory fillers, micro-needling and platelet rich plasma, and laser resurfacing.

According to statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2012 almost 8.5 million nonsurgical cosmetic procedures were performed by the board certified doctors in the United States who are most likely to perform cosmetic procedures. Additionally, almost 24% of the doctors surveyed said that someone other than a physician performs injections in their practice. Almost 11 million nonsurgical procedures were performed by BOTH physicians and their physician assistants and nurse injectors.
