Precious Lambs Get Active with the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization Courtesy of the Childrens Obesity Fund

Long Beach, California (PRWEB) May 27, 2013

Precious Lamb Preschool is excited about the opportunity to add the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization health programs to their teaching curriculum. Recognizing the need to instill good health habits early, the Childrens Obesity Fund is sponsoring the new classes at the preschool.

Keeping our kids active and teaching them good food and nutrition choices are key skills we want to teach our kids, says Lailanie Cruz Executive Director of Precious Lamb Preschool. Wed like to thank the Omidi brothers and the Childrens Obesity Fund for sponsoring the the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization programs at our school. Our parents and school staff are thrilled to add this important information to our curriculum.

According to the government program founded by first lady Michelle Obama, Lets Move (letsmove.gov), childhood obesity rates in the United States have tripled in the last 30 years. One in every three children is overweight or obese, and the numbers are even higher for African American and Hispanic kids. Lailanie Cruz, Executive Director of Precious Lamb states, According to a study done by First 5 LA, homeless children are more likely to be overweight and/or obese, so the gift and implementation of the Kid-Fit program to us is very much welcomed and appreciated. Childrens Obesity Fund provides information and resources to parents, educators, and other role models so they in turn can help children make healthy choices.

The KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization (http://www.kid-fit.org) is the non profit arm of KID-FIT, founded by Michele Silence, a certified educator, personal trainer and fitness consultant. After the birth of her son, she wanted to make sure that there were adequate early fitness programs available in local preschools. Today, KID-FIT provides preschools and daycare facilities with tested, scientifically evaluated early physical education curriculum. By providing children as young as two with the proper exercise routines and nutrition, the KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization hopes to slow or even prevent the progression of obesity related illnesses in the population of economically under served children.

Precious Lamb Preschool, Inc. (PLP) is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 and committed to providing children and families facing homelessness with free early education and care. PLP serves families in the Long Beach area who have experienced domestic violence, crisis pregnancy, substance abuse and are homeless. The families are residents of shelters or transitional programs. At no cost to the family, the young children benefit from a full day of developmentally appropriate preschool program while parents participate in their rehabilitation, job training or educational programs. Co-founded by Julian Omidi and Dr. Michael Omidi, the Childrens Obesity Fund (http://www.childrensobesityfund.org) hopes to help reverse the trend of rising obesity rates in America. The goal of the non-profit charity is to help people fully understand the obesity issue and its dire impacts on individuals and society as a whole -- and to use that knowledge to encourage children to grow up strong and healthy. Childrens Obesity Fund partners with other organizations to educate and support parents, educators and others so that we can all work together to raise healthy, active, social, and happy children. While the organization does not accept donations, it does encourage direct contributions of money and talents to the associations featured on our website. Childrens Obesity Fund is on Facebook as well as Google+, Twitter, and Pinterest.
