Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) June 13, 2013

Planning a summer vacation that includes the four-legged family member? molly mutt teamed up with DogTipper to offer seven tips for fun, healthy summer travel with the dog.

An unfamiliar environment may make it difficult for a pooch to settle. molly mutt, the original dog bed duvet company, offers stylish dog beds that easily fold into an overnight bag taking less space than a pair of sandals. When Fidos ready for bed, simply follow the original, patented process: upcycle existing stuff - clothes, hotel towels or sheets - into a molly mutt mesh stuff sack, zip that into Fidos duvet cover and in the wag of a tail, pups own bed is ready.

Just in time for summer camping, molly mutt introduces outdoor duvets that are not only chic, but made of strong, water resistant, washable, pre-shrunk polyester. All are fully zippered and gusseted for extra style and comfort. Reasonably priced, molly mutt duvets start at $ 25.

Before jumping in the car or boarding a plane with your beloved dog, invest in a bit of vacation pre-planning:

1.Dig Up the Facts Before You Go. Traveling with a dog means doing the legwork not just to find pet-friendly hotels or campgrounds but also dog parks, dog beaches, and attractions that welcome the four-legged family member along the way. Ensure a pleasant trip by checking facility pet policies with an Internet search and a quick phone call before travel.

2.Prepare for the Unexpected. No one wants to get sick on vacation but we all know it happens, both to two- and four-legged travelers. Search for veterinarians and emergency veterinarians along the trip route. Also, research each destinations dog boarding facilities in case overnight boarding is necessary due to an illness or an emergency.

3.Identify Your Dog. Along with the dogs standard dog tag, create a special tag that includes cell phone numbers. QR tags (barcode readable by QR scanner app on mobile phones with a camera, and smartphones) also permit multiple numbers such as the veterinarian, the hotel, and a family member back at home. GPS tags attach to a dogs collar and permit tracking the dog via smartphone should they become lost.

4.Make a Pre-Trip Vet Visit. A pre-trip talk with your veterinarian is also a good idea to learn whether a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and any other paperwork are necessary, especially if the trip includes crossing state lines or flying. If the dog isnt already microchipped, the vet can chip your dog (a quick and easy process) and you can register the microchip number to identify your dog if he should become lost. While at the vet, ask for another copy of the dogs immunization records to carry on the trip.

5.Pack Food and Water. Carry all your dogs food or know where you can purchase it along your route to avoid digestive issues. Many travelers also serve bottled water to their dogs while on vacation to avoid tummy troubles. Pack Fidos papers, food, toys and more in molly mutts new charming totes that mix and match its stylish patterns. Twelve different totes are each fashioned with two different molly mutt fabrics. Reversible, machine washable and lightweight, the totes include a multiple pockets and start at $ 30.

Tips while on the road:

6.Stop Often. Just as if you were traveling with a small child, car travel with your dog means youre going to need to schedule more frequent stops along the way. Every two to three hours (and more often if you have a puppy), youll need to make a pit stop. Bring along molly mutts new fillmore pouches to add a little style to waste management on a walk. These innovative waste bag holders are a smart alternative to stuffing plastic bags into jacket or pants pockets. Fourteen different pouches are each fashioned with two different molly mutt fabrics, and cleverly designed to snap onto a leash. Each zips-in a roll of waste bags, easily accessed through a small slit in the bags side, and is a convenient place to stash keys, credit cards, or cash. Suggested retail price: $ 10.

7.Buckle Up! As with seat belts and car seats for your human travelers, your canine companion needs to be kept safe in the car with some type of restraint. The choices vary depending on your dogs size, from car seats and crates for small dogs to seat belts and harnesses for larger pooches. molly mutts charming crate covers are a stylish way to travel, with door panels that roll down for full closure or snap up on two sides for easy access. In the event of an accident, not only will these devices keep your dog safe but theyll protect the human passengers as well who can be injured by a flying dog.
