Dr Miriam Stoppard has warned about the dangers of modern living on hearing, and highlighted the dangers people expose themselves to when using MP3 players, attending nightclubs and even using hair dryers!
Cells in the inner ear are sensitive to damage, with loud noise over a period of time causing damage to the hair cells, which cannot repair themselves once damaged.
Dr Miriam warned that damage earlier in life can accumulate to deafness in middle age and that the unsafe use of MP3 players could play a key part in hearing loss.
