Hidden Hearing have responded to Research Linking Infrasound Could Affect Ear Health

A recent study by ear, nose and throat specialists in the UK found that infrasound can have physiological effects.

The review article published in the March issue of Journal of Laryngology and Otology showed that outer hair cells of the cochlea respond to infrasound, which could affect the functioning of the ear.

Another study looked at how the auditory cortex of the brain can also be activated by low frequency noise, which can produce health effects.

Infrasound has been linked to wind turbines and has raised concern that there could be such a thing as wind turbine syndrome as people who live near turbines have complained of feeling ill. However the syndrome is not recognised by the World Health Organisation and scientists argue that more research needs to be done to provide any certain link between wind turbines and health effects.
