Hair Restoration Specialists has been and continues to be proud member of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS). Last year, ASLMS awarded $ 140,000 to scientists and medical researchers who are working on important laser research projects. An astonishing $ 1.2 million in research grants have been awarded to date. Member contributions, combined with contributions from industry, subsidize the grants awarded by the Research Committee.
Hair Restoration Specialists values our membership with ASLMS, as we find this to be the best avenue for gaining scientific information on the use of lasers. ASLMS is one of the few organizations where all aspects of laser medicine are addressed, including laser safety, physics, tissue interactions, and complication management. In addition to their research fund, they have established a new Advancement of Laser Medicine Endowment Fund that will ensure their efforts to fund research will continue to make a significant difference in improving patient care and their commitment to furthering sustainable, unbiased research.
The new endowment fund honors Dr. Leon Goldman, a Founder of ASLMS. He was an editor, an author and a research extraordinaire. He was an educator whose academic progeny spans many fields and projects on an international scope. Much of the scientific foundation for medical research laser work is attributable to Dr. Goldman. He indeed will always be known as the Father of Laser Medicine.
