Foods4BetterHealth Reports on Healthy and Sustainable Food Program

(PRWEB) June 14, 2013

Foods4BetterHealth.com, a new food and nutrition web site that believes in using food to heal and prevent disease and illness and help everyone live a long, happy life, is reporting on the newly announced Healthy and Sustainable Food Program (HSFP), which will allow consumers to purchase healthy food at over 75 national parks.

As Foods4BetterHealth notes (http://www.foods4betterhealth.com/finding-healthy-food-at-national-parks-just-got-easier-2172), the National Park Service recognizes that many consumers enjoy spending time outdoors during the summertime, often visiting national parks. However, unless you bring your own healthy food, you end up purchasing fast food at the national parks, which makes it difficult to eat healthy while youre on vacation or a day trip.

As the article Finding Healthy Food at National Parks Just Got Easier, reports, over 23 million people buy food at over 75 national parks every year, and most of that food is usually unhealthy junk food. The new initiative will help national parks buy local food and produce when possible, and show them how to offer healthy food for the same price. For example, some parks already announced they will be offering grass-fed beef, fish tacos, and fresh soupsa much-needed change compared to the French fries and hamburgers patrons would normally purchase.

The Foods4BetterHealth report notes that consumers shouldnt have to choose between eating out and eating healthy food. This initiative ensures consumers do not have to worry about packing their own lunch when they embark on a trip to national parks. The Foods4BetterHealth report concludes that Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon South Rim, and Muir Woods have already announced their healthy food menus for this summer, which include a wide array of options, including free-range, hormone-free chicken; organic muffins; garden vegetable pasta; and veggie wraps.
