Colle Farmers Market, Leaders in Organic Food, Applauds Small-Town Couple for Finding Success With Organic Beauty Products

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) March 29, 2013

On March 29, 2013, Colle Farmers Market releases a statement following a Forbes article by Darren Dahl discussing the history of the company SkinFare, a beauty products company that uses only organic and sustainably harvested ingredients in their products.

According to the Forbes article, Kara Errickson started to take a look at what was really in her beauty products when she became pregnant in 2008. She found a number of unsafe and even toxic ingredients used in the soaps and lotions she used on a daily basis. The average American can use up to ten different care products a day, which can have a combined 126 different cosmetic chemicals in them. Inspired to come up with a way to cut that down, Errickson along with her husband Tyler, founded Skinfare.

The article states that, The company currently makes five varieties of skin salves with names like Verdant Remedy and Thunder Cake that are made with organic and sustainably harvested ingredients like coconut oil, beeswax, carrot, ginger and spearmint. Packaged in biodegradable paper tubes, the lotion sticks sell for $ 9.99 a piece, work just like push-pops and can be used anywhere you have skin."

The article goes on to mention that Skinfare started in August of 2011, and is now available in some 350 locations across the US. The Erricksons employ six full-time employees and raised over $ 500,000 in investment capital. One of the biggest struggles for the new company revolved around the decision to use biodegradable packaging. The Erricksons are forced to carry a much larger inventory because suppliers demand a high minimum order, but they believe the decision has been a good one since the packaging shows consumers that they are different from other products.

A representative from organic food advocate Colle Farmers Market responds, commending the effort of the Erriksons to promote healthier beauty products. A big focus of the organic movement has been on the food we eat, but the Erricksons are taking it to another level what we put on our bodies needs just as much attention as what we put in them! The amount of chemicals we use every day for cosmetic and beauty needs is shocking, and to now have additional organic options for beauty products is ideal. Their commitment to using sustainably grown products is especially laudable. This will hopefully start getting other companies thinking about how they can change their products to be healthier.
