NewVo Beauty Responds To Fox Tampa Bay On How To Get Healthy Hair

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) February 27, 2013

Representative Sara Greenstone from NewVo Beauty responds to an article published by Fox Tampa Bay detailing ways people can get healthy hair.

According to the article published on Fox Tampa Bay, dying, perming and straightening hair can leave it severely damaged. The article said all these processes could cause split ends, scalp dryness or itching, and even hair loss.

Greenstone said heat and chemicals break down hair strands. People are so concerned with having perfectly colored, perfectly straight or curly hair that they dont realize the damage its causing, she said. Long term continuous use of dyes or relaxers causes breakage, while constant heat causes our hair to become dry and brittle.

Each strand of hair grows from a follicle in our scalp, which determines if the hair will be straight or curly, the article said. These follicles are connected to the blood stream and could be strengthened by eating better. Your diet impacts your hair, the article said. You can boost it by getting good nutrients and eating right.

The article suggested eating foods like salmon, eggs, sweet potatoes, nuts, lentils, blueberries and spinach can give you the extra protein you need to make your hair stronger and help it grow faster. The vegetables are filled with vitamin C and E and zincs, which are necessary for hair growth and shine.

Shampoo can also improve your hair, the article said. Greenstone agreed. She said there are certain shampoos that are less harsh on your hair. If you use a sulfate-free shampoo, you will instantly notice a difference in your hairs appearance and feel, he said. Sulfates and alcohols found in normal shampoos can dry out your hair and strip it of its natural oil. Pureology hair care products are all sulfate- free and made from a lot of natural products. Use the shampoo and deep conditioner to hydrate your hair and mend split ends.

Greenstone said its best not to use too many harsh chemicals on your hair and to try to use more natural and organic products.

Keratin Complex Retailer NewVo Beauty Responds to Damaged Hair Study

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 03, 2013

On April 3, Sara Greenstone, a spokesperson from online beauty supply store NewVo Beauty, issues a response to a Business Courier article revealing many women report having damaged hair.

According to Business Courier, more than half of women in the U.S. report having damaged hair. In a new study conducted by Procter & Gamble, about 57 percent of women in major cities say they have damaged hair. The article says the leading causes of hair damage are combing hair when wet, keeping hair in a ponytail and scalp scratching.

Greenstone says most women care about the way their hair looks, but dont realize the damage endured from styling. Keeping your hair tied back in a ponytail is not healthy because the hair band breaks hair, she says. Its better to keep hair loosely pinned back or tied up with a softer type of hair tie. This could help when reducing breakage.

Though combing through wet hair could be damaging and increase hair loss, Greenstone says heating tools are the real culprits. Hair is healthiest when it air dries, she says. Unfortunately, most women dont want to risk walking out the door with unkempt hair. Constantly blow drying, straightening and curling hair leads to hair thinning, split ends and damaged strands. Always remember to use an iron guard or thermal protection spray to coat the hair before styling.

Greenstone suggests replacing old hair care products with new, sulfate-free, paraben free shampoo and conditioner to avoid damaging hair. Keratin Complex products put essential proteins back into your hair, she says. Without the sulfates and parabens drying it out, your hair can grow healthier and repair itself. Though natural, organic shampoos might be a bit pricier, they are worth it.

DietAssist Responds to New Research into how Appetite Control could be rewired

(PRWEB UK) 7 April 2013

In the study published in the Journal of Neuroscience using experiments in rodents, cells called Tanycytes were found to produce neurons which specifically regulate appetite.

Researchers say this means appetite is not fixed at birth and could be a major cause of eating disorders such as obesity. Their study is published in the Journal of Neuroscience.

It was previously thought that nerve cells in the brain associated with appetite regulation were generated entirely during an embryo's development in the womb and could not be altered.

Discovery of these Tanycytes, which act like stem cells, in the brains of rodents shows that appetite can be modified.

Lead researcher Dr Mohammad Hajihosseini, from the university's school of biological sciences, said the discovery could eventually offer a permanent solution for tackling obesity - but it would take up to five or 10 years to translate the findings into humans.

Paul Howard, from DietAssist, said, Although this discovery is without a doubt very interesting, we have discovered that the brain can be rewired using easy to learn psychological techniques that change the way people relate to, and behave with regards to, food.

In the DietAssist programme we create new patterns of behaviour towards food that allows people to control and regulate their food intake and more importantly change their future behaviour without having to calculate the calorie content of every mouthful.

The DietAssist programme educates the brain into a new way of viewing food, and as the people using the programme generally already know how to lose weight, the combination creates a powerful force for change.

The real power of this change is that it gives the person the ability to maintain dietary control going forward and helps them to develop and maintain more appropriate eating behaviours. It aims to completely change the persons relationship with food at an emotional level and effects change without the need for drugs, special diets or costly surgery.

The DietAssist programme helps people who want to lose weight, but who find dieting hard work. It teaches people how to take control of their cravings so that slimming becomes easier and more successful.

DietAssist strengthens motivation and resolve and creates the optimum psychological state for dieting, and it works alongside any weight loss programme or sensible eating plan.

DietAssist responds to news of record winter food sales

(PRWEB UK) 15 April 2013

Retailers say sales of winter foods such as stews, pies, casseroles and hearty soups have reached 'unprecedented levels' because of spring's late arrival.

Some supermarkets have reported selling triple their usual amount of so-called comfort foods ahead of what is said to have been the coldest Easter on record, according to trade magazine, The Grocer.

Supermarket Morrisons, said that sales of pies were up by 246% in the week leading up to the Easter weekend. The chain sold 80% more soup than in the same period last year

Temperatures dropped to lows of -12.5C on 31st March, making it the coldest British Easter day on record.

Britain has been hit by some of the coldest April temperatures for almost 100 years.

Co-creator of DietAssist, Rob Woodgate, says "This news shows how we are more influenced by our environment than we might care to admit. When faced with unseasonal winter conditions, our automatic response is to reach for comfort foods. We dont really think about it - we just do it automatically.

"At DietAssist, we believe that over 95% of eating is emotionally driven, and that is why dieting is usually so hard using willpower alone. We teach people how to lose weight more easily by taking back conscious control of their eating habits and behaviours so that they can avoid automatic comfort eating."

The DietAssist programme is the result of over 20 years experience of helping people to lose weight effectively, and uses the latest psychological techniques to avoid the self sabotage and demotivation that dieters commonly experience.

The DietAssist programme gives dieters a deep understanding about how their mind works, and how to use it to their advantage whatever diet or sensible eating plan they are using. It aims to help them to take back control over their eating behaviours and teaches them to act more

DietAssist responds to news that weight loss surgery alters gene expression

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 16 April 2013

According to the study, published in the journal Cell Reports, people who underwent gastric bypass surgery and lost weight experienced changes in gene expression.

These changes allowed them to start burning fat and storing sugars properly, decreasing their risk for diabetes.

The findings suggest that the environment - in this case food intake or weight loss - can affect gene expression through this mechanism.

Lead researcher, Juleen Zierath said the result was surprising because the orthodox view is that chemical marks on DNA are fixed.

Co-creator of DietAssist, Rob Woodgate, says, "Many people resign themselves to being overweight because it runs in their family. But the underlying message here is clear - you are not a slave to your genetics. You have some control.

Although the study focusses on weight loss through surgery, it demonstrates the bodys remarkable ability to adjust and adapt, and shows that the damage from obesity can be reversed just by losing excess weight.

"At DietAssist, we teach people how to lose weight more easily by taking back conscious control of their eating habits and behaviours."

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to New Study Revealing Behaviour of Patients Who Have Suffered a Stroke or Heart Disease

(PRWEB UK) 25 April 2013

According to The Spec, more than 14 percent of patients fail to adopt any healthy habits after suffering a stroke or with heart disease. Many other patients do not adopt enough of a healthier lifestyle in order to avoid reoccurring illnesses and disease. The study looked at three main health lifestyle choices, avoiding or quitting smoking, consuming a healthy diet and taking regular physical exercise. The findings were made from 154,000 adults across 178 countries with varying incomes over a seven year period. Only 4 percent adopted all three healthy lifestyle choices.

It seems that changing old habits such as stopping smoking, taking regular exercise and adopting a healthy diet are requirements that are difficult to do. Hypnotherapy can be used as a complementary approach to breaking bad habits such as smoking and overeating.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is one of the most established hypnotherapy directories in the UK, listing qualified and experienced hypnotherapists throughout the British Isles that can help clients with a range of issues including smoking, weight loss and anxiety. It is possible to use a hypnotist to help make major lifestyle choices such as quitting smoking or changing eating habits forever as a representative explained, The desire to quit needs to be present in order for hypnotherapy to work alongside it and in turn strengthen and reinforce the determination to quit smoking or change eating habits forever.

The NCH continues to follow health related news.

NCH represents over 1800 hypnotherapy professionals within the UK and is committed to ensuring the highest possible professional standards amongst our members. DietAssist responds to study linking workouts and food on menus

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 27 April 2013

The study of 300 volunteers showed that menus displaying the amount of exercise needed to burn off the calories in meals helped people consume fewer calories.

The volunteers were split into three groups. The first group had a menu without any calorie information, the second group had menus with calories displayed.

The third group had menus that showed the number of calories plus the amount of brisk walking required to burn them off.

All of the menus offered the same choice of food and drink, which included burgers, sandwiches, salad, chips, soft drinks and water.

None of the volunteers was aware of the reason for the study and the researchers took into account hunger levels when interpreting their findings.

On average, the group given the exercise equivalent consumed 100 fewer calories than the other groups.

The study highlights the importance of the human mind in losing weight," says Rob Woodgate, co-creator of DietAssist. "The study confirms that people are able to make better choices when the consequences are made crystal clear. A calorie number means nothing to most people, but faced with the prospect of a defined amount of exercise, the choice becomes easier to make.

At DietAssist, we teach people the psychology of dieting and tricks to help them work with their mind. In short, we teach them how to lose weight more easily and keep it off.

The DietAssist programme is the result of over 20 years experience of helping people to lose weight effectively, and uses the latest psychological techniques to avoid the self sabotage and demotivation that dieters commonly experience.

DietAssist responds to news that celebrity chef recipes may be unhealthy

(PRWEB UK) 28 April 2013

Researchers at Coventry University found that 87 percent of the 904 recipes from the 26 cooks tested fell substantially short of the British government's healthy eating recommendations.

The researchers refused to say which chefs recipes were tested, but said that random samples had been taken from best-selling books and websites in such a way as to ensure a balanced representation of different types of meals.

After an analysis of each of the recipes, the academics discovered that only 13 percent used ingredients that presented an overall nutritional composition that would be considered healthy in accordance with benchmarks set by Britains Food Standards Agency.

Some 92 percent of celebrity chefs sampled had at least one recipe with saturated fatty acids above the recommended intake for one day, the study found.

One meal contained more than five times the recommended amount, while half of the chefs had recipes with salt content equalling or exceeding the daily recommended limit of 6g.

Researchers also found 96 percent were high in saturated fat, while 65 percent had a high level of sugar.

DietAssist maintain that hidden calories are the bigger problem, and their recent article, How many calories to lose weight showed that it only takes around 300 calories to separate an obese person from a lean one.

Rob Woodgate, co-creator of DietAssist, said Whilst recipes from celebrity chefs are undeniably unhealthy, we think the public are generally clever enough to realise this, especially as they are preparing the recipe for themselves.

We think the bigger problem lies in the pre-prepared foods available in the supermarkets, especially the so called healthy or low fat options which are loaded with sugars. Preparing food from scratch is a great way to become consciously aware of exactly what you are eating.

At DietAssist, we teach people the psychology of dieting and tricks to help them work with their mind so that they can lose weight more easily.

DietAssist responds to recent study that shows women are shamed into dieting

(PRWEB UK) 29 April 2013

The study, reported in the Mail Online on Monday, states that slender celebrities cavorting on the beach in bikinis make women feel insecure about their bodies.

The poll of 2,000 men and women, by supermarket Asda, found that women want to lose on average 11lb and as many as 82% intend to slim down by summer, and one in four are motivated to lose weight by bikini pictures.

However, the same percentages do not hold true for men as less than one in five men said they hope to lose weight by summer. Of men who do want to lose weight, nearly two-thirds said they wouldn't be changing their habits until a month before their holiday.

This week is when women are most likely to start their summer bikini diet, according to the study.

More than a quarter of women polled said seeing celebrity bodies gave them the incentive to diet and 15 per cent even admitted to decorating their fridge with celeb thinspiration pictures.

Meanwhile, those in their twenties confessed to crash dieting and using fad weight loss plans in a last minute bid to shape up.

DietAssist understand that motivation is the most important factor in losing weight successfully. There are some key motivating factors that are more successful than others. For example, recently separated men or women tend to be far more successful than someone who wants to lose weight for an existing partner. Obviously the need to get back into shape is a strong motivator so they can be successful on the relationship market.

In essence, self-image is a far greater motivator than general health or a partners feelings.

Paul Howard, from DietAssist, said Because we know that motivation is paramount to the successful dieter, we focus a large part of the DietAssist programme on keeping the motivation up. We are always being asked how to lose weight? and in a nutshell the answer is stay motivated. If the motivation stays high so does the amount of weight loss.

Give them one of the best gifts they will ever receive.

The DietAssist programme is the result of over 20 years experience of helping people to lose weight effectively, and uses the latest psychological techniques to avoid the self sabotage and demotivation that dieters commonly experience.

DietAssist responds to news that overeating could be compulsive

Getting a grip on addiction can be incredibly hard, as anyone who has ever tried to give up smoking, alcohol or even caffeine will testify.

A tried and tested tactic is for a person to avoid the thing they are addicted to. So a person may give up going to pubs or refuse to keep cigarettes in the house.

Even with these measures, however, people often struggle and fail repeatedly.

As obesity levels continue to rise, the scientific community is starting to look for similarities between overeating and addiction.

Researchers are cautious, but some evidence suggests that obese people and drug addicts share a similar response to the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is known to be involved in addictions.

The connection has prompted the EU to fund a project called NeuroFAST to bring all the evidence together.

Paul Howard, from DietAssist, said Whilst overeating can seem as uncontrollable as a drug addiction, we dont believe the label is helpful as it encourages people to feel helpless.

In our experience, overeating is emotionally and socially driven. We teach people how to lose weight more easily by taking back conscious control of their eating habits and behaviours so that they can avoid comfort eating or mindless eating.

DietAssist responds to news that obese young men will pay the price later

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 7 May 2013

6500 Danish men were tracked from age 22 for a total of 33 years. All of them were born in 1955, and had registered for a military service fitness test.

Almost half of those classified as obese at the age of 22 were diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, heart attack, blood clots in the lungs or legs, or had died before reaching the age of 55.

They were eight times as likely to get diabetes as their normal weight peers and four times as likely to get a potentially fatal blood clot. They were also more than twice as likely to develop high blood pressure, have had a heart attack, or to have died.

The study showed that every unit increase in BMI raised the diabetes rate by 20%, high blood pressure and blood clot rates by 10%, and the heart attack rate by 5%.

In all, men who were obese when they were young were three times as likely to get any of these serious conditions as their normal weight peers by middle age, conferring an absolute risk of almost 50% compared with only 20% among their normal weight peers.

Paul Howard, co-creator of the DietAssist programme, said Most people are well aware that being overweight is bad for health, but this study suggests that obesity in early adulthood strengthens that risk significantly.

DietAssist responds to news that sugary soft drinks should carry cigarette-style health warnings

London. UK (PRWEB UK) 8 May 2013

A major study by Imperial College London found the risk of type 2 diabetes rose by 22 per cent for every 12oz serving of sugar-sweetened drink consumed per day.

12oz is the amount served in a typical can of soft drink.

Professor Nick Wareham, leader of the Imperial team, said: 'Labels on sugar-sweetened beverages should be explicit about how much sugar they contain and should say that we should limit consumption as part of a healthy diet.'

Soft drinks have previously been linked with weight gain and obesity a well-known trigger for type 2 diabetes but researchers say the effect goes beyond body weight and may be caused by an increase in insulin resistance.

Other research has shown that sugary drinks can damage the liver and kidneys and are linked to the risk of developing cancer or dementia.

There are growing concerns that fizzy drinks and sweet juices could be more dangerous for health than previously thought.

Paul Howard, from DietAssist, said As human beings, we are programmed to like sweet things, and the availability of sugar in our food is very concerning."

"We support calls for clearer labeling so that people can make an informed choice, especially for the so called sports or healthy drinks.

After all, whilst its true that a typical can of cola contains around 8 teaspoons of sugar, so does a glass of supposedly healthy fruit smoothie.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to new Study detailing how long Consumers Spent Exercising and Making Healthy Meals

(PRWEB UK) 13 May 2013

According to a new study, most people will either exercise or make healthy meals, but not both over the same period of time. The study which looked at over 112,000 American adults investigated how much time people spent exercising and preparing healthy meals and noted that only 16 percent of men and 12 percent of women had completed physical exercise as well as dieting. On average, when compared to non dieters, men took roughly 19 minutes of exercise and women around 9 minutes. In addition, the study looked at the time both sexes took to prepare meals men approximately 17 minutes and women on average 44 minutes, more than double that of men. The study concluded that those who spent more time on either area exercise or food preparation the less they spent on the other, suggesting that consumers are only prepared to spend a certain amount of time on healthy activities.

As obesity continues to be a problem in the UK it is important to investigate the way people feel about healthy activities and find routes to encourage people to stay fit. Alongside this, it is also worth noting complementary therapies that can help weight loss such as hypnotherapy.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is a hypnotherapist directory that gives details of hypnotherapists based throughout the United Kingdom making it easy for consumers to book hypnotherapy sessions to help with a range of problems including weight, habits, phobias and anxiety. To date, the Councils hypnotist members have helped thousands of people lose weight as a representative explained, Hypnotherapy can aid weight loss by using two main methods, the first is using a hypnoband similar to that of a gastric band which mentally shrinks the stomach or the second, which comprises of various tactics to help change eating habits and attitudes to food.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to new Research about Weight Loss

(PRWEB UK) 14 May 2013

According to Zee News, a new study has shown that green tea extract in tandem with an additional compound could be effective for body weight control and type 2 diabetes. The study found the active constituents of green tea, which have been shown to inhibit glucose and liquid uptake, could help with weight loss and to control glucose uptake for diabetes sufferers. Results showed that when green tea extract was given with polyethylene glycol to both diabetic and non diabetic mice, there was a huge reduction in body mass and weight, insulin resistance and glucose intolerance.

Such findings demonstrate the potential effectiveness of green tea on humans especially if they are following a healthy lifestyle and diet. The results are something that medical advisors and general practitioners have been recommending for thousands of years dating back to traditional Chinese medicine.

In the UK alone obesity has become a problem of epidemic proportion and whilst the National Health Service and Government are doing their upmost to try and reduce the problem, some are still struggling to lose weight and keep in shape. A complementary approach that has helped hundreds lose weight and keep healthy is through the use of hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapists work to change the eating habits of the client and to help them to lose weight by realigning the way they approach food. Combining a healthy lifestyle including drinking green tea and attending hypnotherapy sessions could help clients lose weight.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy has been making it possible for consumers to contact hypnotherapists throughout Great Britain offering a hypnotherapist directory for those looking to book sessions in their local area on a range of topics including stopping smoking, controlling panic attacks and losing weight.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy expects to see more clients looking to control their weight as the year progresses.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to Statistics Showing Weight Loss is More Effective if Carried out Through Weight Loss Support Groups

(PRWEB UK) 20 May 2013

According to The Telegraph, slimmers who attempt to lose weight alone rather than joining a slimming group lose less weight. The American study showed that those who joined a slimming group lost five times more weight than those who did not. The study looked at dieters at two intervals three and six months and found that in both cases the slimmers had lost more weight if they had joined a slimming organisation. As part of the study, 147 people joined a sliming group and 145 dieted alone.

Lead researcher added, The difference in weight loss between the two groups is compelling. Whilst people in the Weight Watchers group demonstrated significant weight loss at six months, people in the self help group started to re gain weight. Over time, it is unlikely that DIY diets are successful.

As obesity becomes a growing problem in the UK many are looking for alternative ways to lose weight either by joining weight loss groups or by using complementary therapies such as hypnotherapy.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy is one of the UKs most established hypnotherapist directories offering members of the public the opportunity to find hypnotherapists in their local area and seek help for various issues including stopping smoking, dealing with anxiety or panic attacks and of course, weight loss.

To date qualified and professional members of the council have helped hundreds of thousands of people with problems as a representative explained, Weight loss can be difficult to continue alone and with no boost of determination or empathy like you would receive from other slimming members in a group. Hypnotherapy can help boost this if you plan to go it alone or add to the chance of even more weight loss if you are already a member of a weight loss group.

The National Council for Hypnotherapy Responds to New Study Detailing the Effect of Pre-packaged Diet Foods

(PRWEB UK) 23 May 2013

According to Reuters UK, in a head to head comparison with those who ate a traditional diet, people who ate a diet of portion controlled pre packaged foods lost almost twice as much weight as those who only used advice on how to reduce calories. The study concluded that the more freedom a dieter has with their portion size and the food they eat the less of a chance they have of losing weight. Those who ate focused and bespoke diet meals have more of a chance of losing weight.

A leading nutrition expert added, When theres less structure, then participants are making more decisions, and I think too often theyre making decisions that undermine their goal to stick to a calorie target.

Results showed that those who stuck to the prepared meals lost on average 16.5 pounds and the regular dieters who prepared their own food lost 8.4 pounds on average.

Whilst some who are overweight are doing their best to lose weight through traditional methods such as dieting and changing what they eat, others are trying complementary methods such as hypnotherapy.
