Great HealthWorks, Inc., Makers of Omega XL, Reports University of Kansas Medical Center Study: Omega-3s Support Healthier Pregnancies and Birth Weight

(PRWEB) May 13, 2013

Due to widespread dietary deficiencies of essential omega-3 fatty acids, doctors typically recommend that pregnant women add an Omega-3 supplement to their pre and postnatal care regimen. Recent research, conducted at the University of Kansas Medical Center and published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, suggests supplementing pregnant mothers with omega-3 fatty acid, such as found in Omega XL, can lead to longer gestations and healthier birth weights.

The Kansans City researchers designed a double-blind, randomized placebo controlled trial - long considered the gold standard in clinical research that looked at a group of 350 pregnant women, from the 20th week of gestation to birth, who were given either 600 mg of omega-3 DHA daily, or a placebo. Blood was analyzed for red blood cell phospholipid DHA upon enrolment in the study and at birth, from both mom as well as from the umbilical cord.

The blood samples from the group supplemented with DHA, compared to the placebo group, registered higher levels of phospholipid DHA both maternally and at the umbilical cord. An analysis of the pregnancies showed that the DHA group experienced longer gestation duration, greater birth weight and infant size (measured in length and head circumference) than the placebo group. In addition, the DHA group experienced fewer births before 34 weeks, and shorter hospital stays for infants born preterm than did the placebo group.

This study demonstrated that 600mg per day of Omega-3 fatty acid DHA was safe and helped to promote healthy fetal development, overall pregnancy wellness and a reduction in preterm births. The researchers stated as to the significance of the findings: a reduction in early preterm and very-low birth weight could be important clinical and public health outcomes of DHA supplementation.

These findings come on the heels of prior prenatal and pediatric research which suggests that omega-3 supplementation promotes neurological and intellectual development, supports the brain and eyes, increases cognitive function, and enhances visual learning and memory in infants and young children.

Omega XL is one of only two Omega 3 supplements sold in the world that contains the patented stabilized marine lipid extract PCSO-524 derived only from the New Zealand green-lipped mussel, with 30 healthy fatty acids including DHA and EPA. Sold in other parts of the world under its sister brand name Lyprinol, Omega XL is manufactured exclusively by Great HealthWorks Inc., and is the most widely available omega-3 fish oil supplement containing the potent PCSO-524 marine lipid extract. Desire for Flawless and Light-Colored Skin Drives the Skin Lighteners Market, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) May 22, 2013

Follow us on LinkedIn Skin whitening products represents one of the rapidly growing segments in the global beauty industry. With the concept of beauty in the 21st century revolving around a flawless and fair complexion, there is rising discrimination based on skin color, also known as Colourism. The scenario generates opportunities for products that capitalize on skin color discrimination such as skin whitening products, especially in regions like Asia, South America and Africa. The desire for fair and white skin is rooted in the culture and traditions of these countries and obsession for fair skin can be traced to almost all sections of the society. Although skin-whitening products were initially aimed at facial care, the trend has changed with companies offering products for overall skincare. Presently, the market comprises products that lighten skin on the face, armpits and feet. Also, the market is emerging from its traditional stronghold of womens into the mens segment. With personal grooming gaining significance among men, demand for male skin brightening and lightening products is on the rise, particularly in Asia.

Growth in the market is forecast to be driven by strong demand in Asia-Pacific. Popularity of skin whiteners is growing in Asia, particularly in India, Japan, and China, where fair skin is associated with youth, beauty, and prosperity. The market is also witnessing robust demand from Middle East. Strong economic growth, rising standards of living, expanding base of middle class population, increased per capita spends on beauty and wellness products, and growing discrimination based on color or skin tone are key factors driving growth in these regions.

Growing Health Awareness and Focus on Personal Grooming Drives the Personal Care Appliances Market, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) February 18, 2013

Follow us on LinkedIn Global market for personal care appliances market is expected to grow at a steady pace in the near term driven by improving economic environment and increasing consumer confidence. As opposed to the developed western markets, fast emerging economies in Asia-Pacific and Latin America are poised for faster growth in the next few years.

Though macroeconomic factors determine the extent of demand for various types of electrical grooming devices, dynamics of the personal care appliances market are shaped to a large extent by trends in personal grooming in men, women and children. For instance, while grooming routines of men and women influence sales of body shavers and hair styling appliances, childrens preferences are setting standards in the battery-operated toothbrushes markets. Despite the fragile economic environment due to the eurozone crisis and resultant weakening of consumer confidence, demand for personal care appliances remains modest given the perpetual obsession of men and women to look young and beautiful.

With consumers increasingly becoming conscious about their health and looks, a wide range of personal care appliances have become part of their daily routines. Despite the fact that consumers traded down to low-priced alternatives and private label products during recession, the potential for high-end products remains high among consumers looking for advanced technologies and innovative features. Product innovation has emerged as a key strategy to counter the sliding purchases in the market. Superior product quality, effective marketing strategies and efficient distribution networks also ensure a fair chance of survival for the manufacturers in the increasing competitive environment.

As stated by the new market research report on Personal Care Appliances, the United States represents the single largest market worldwide. Increasing emphasis on personal appearance and grooming and growing awareness about oral hygiene represent major demand drivers for various types of personal care appliances. The growing trend towards in-house styling has led Americans to seek electrical appliances that are convenient and easy-to-use. With manufacturers incorporating new and advanced features into the products, consumers are being lured into purchasing them. Health-conscious baby boomers are also enhancing demand for healthcare products such as electric toothbrushes. While US remains a major market for personal care appliances, future growth is anticipated from the emerging economies of Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Burgeoning population, a large middle class segment with expanding disposable incomes, and globalization of trade activities have positioned developing economies such as Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC) as major consumer markets for personal care appliances.

Hair dryers and curling irons are well accepted in the market, while massagers, trimmers, and electric toothbrushes are gaining popularity worldwide. Hair clippers, hair setters, and shaving systems with technologically advanced features are penetrating the market, among all age groups and genders. In terms of unit sales, Hair Care Appliances represents the largest segment in the global personal care appliances market, with Curling Irons, Hair Dryers, and Hair Straighteners being the most popular products. However, compact hair dryers for traveling use are also increasingly being favored. Fastest growth is expected from Oral Care Appliances segment, led by an aging population, increasing awareness about oral hygiene and the launch of advanced product offerings. The market for Hair Removal Appliances, particularly electric shavers for both men and women, is driven primarily by the focus on innovation. Further, brand building initiatives, and marketing and promotional campaigns also foster growth in the hair removal products market.

Personal care electrical appliances market is witnessing intense competition due to the presence of a limited number of players. A handful of well-known brands dominate various segments of personal care electrics market such as oral care, grooming, and hair care products. Major players profiled in the report include Church & Dwight Co. Inc., Colgate-Palmolive, Conair Corporation, Groupe SEB, Helen of Troy Limited, Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V., Panasonic Corporation, Procter & Gamble, Braun GmbH, Remington Products Company, Wahl Clipper Corporation, and Waterpik Technologies, Inc.

The research report titled Personal Care Appliances: A Global Strategic Business Report announced by Global Industry Analysts Inc., provides a comprehensive review of market trends, issues, drivers, company profiles, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic industry activities. The report provides market estimates and projections for all major geographic markets such as the US, Canada, Japan, Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK, and Rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Latin America. Product segments analyzed include Hair Care Appliances (Curling Brushes, Curling Irons, Hair Clippers, Hair Dryers, Hair Setters and Hair Straighteners); Oral Care Appliances (Electric Toothbrushes, Oral Irrigators, and Plaque Removers); Hair Removal Appliances (Mens Shavers, Womens Shavers, Epilators, and Trimmers (Beard & Mustache)); and Other Personal Care Appliances (Heating Pads, Whirlpool Baths (Portable), and Massagers).

Product Innovations and Rapid Penetration in Emerging Markets Drives the Global Deodorants Market, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) February 25, 2013

Follow us on LinkedIn The global market for deodorants is characterized by saturated market conditions in the developed markets of Western Europe and the US, and the minimally penetrated, but rapidly growing markets in the emerging nations of Asia-Pacific. In addition, Latin-America as well as Eastern Europe is also forecast to add momentum to the growth of the deodorants market in the coming years. While the saturated markets are driven by product innovations, including value additions and line extensions, the immense opportunities in the minimally penetrated emerging markets, including India, is expected to propel the global deodorants market in future. The delivery of novel products and a better product mix is more important for manufacturers in the developed markets for increased revenues. Producers are mostly compelled to provide new products that offer quick and effective protection from wetness and odor.

Spray deodorants constitute the largest deodorants segment. Stick and solid deodorants constitute the second largest deodorants segment, followed by Roll-On deodorants. Other deodorants segment, comprising niche formats such as cream, gels, and wipes, represents the smallest but fastest growing market in the global deodorants market.

Europe represents the largest market for Deodorants, as stated by the new market research report on Deodorants. The European deodorants market comprises highly matured Western European market and moderately matured Eastern European market, with Western Europe accounting for a lions share. However, Eastern Europe offers considerable growth opportunity with more countries moving towards free market economy. Eastern European countries, including Russia and Poland, present a promising picture with growing economy and increasing per capita expenditure on lifestyle products, including deodorants. Further growth in Western Europe is expected to be mainly driven by the introduction of technologically advanced as well as value-added deodorant products. In addition, the increasing importance of male grooming is also expected to fuel growth in the mens deodorant market. Another important growth driver includes growing demand for organic as well as natural products.

The most promising market opportunities for deodorants are Latin America and Asia Pacific, particularly India, where national consumer spending on deodorant sprays increased by around 20% in 2011. Increasing awareness, rising disposable incomes, and growing population in developing regions of Asia-Pacific and Latin America, is expected to contribute to greater deodorant sales. Sales of deodorants in Latin America were primarily driven by increased consumer transition to aerosol deodorants from low-cost deodorant pumps and the increased sales of relatively high priced brands, including Natura, supported by its natural positioning. The extremely low usage at 10ml per capita offers tremendous scope for expansion in India. With rising consumer wealth, India would remain an important market for deodorants.

The worldwide deodorants market is characterized by intense competition, with few players holding a major share of the market. Major players in the market include Unilever, Procter & Gamble, and Beiersdorf AG, among others. Unilever Group is the leading market participant and offers world-renowned brands, such as Dove, Lynx, and Impulse. In order to enhance their presence in an extremely competitive marketplace, manufacturers are developing new products with innovative technologies, such as deodorants with anti-white marks technology and skin-friendly deodorants. Besides, deodorant companies are offering additional features as part of their efforts to differentiate their products from those offered by their rivals. Value additions, such as deodorants with moisturizing features and deodorants with hair growth retardant abilities, not only push up the sales volume but also ensure enhanced revenues due to their increased prices.

Major players profiled in the report include Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Beiersdorf, Henkel, Colgate-Palmolive, Church & Dwight, Lion Corp., CavinKare Pvt., Ltd., Elder Health Care Ltd., Hindustan Unilever Ltd., HYPERMARCAS S.A., Toms of Maine, and Verdan S

Carib Sales, Inc. Hosts Their Annual Trade Show

Opa-Locka, FL (PRWEB) April 09, 2013

Starting in February, Carib Sales began emptying and cleaning their warehouse in preparation for their annual trade show on the 27th. A three-day event, Carib Sales invited vendors and merchandisers to the warehouse to get acquainted with their sales representatives and to introduce them to the new and exciting ethnic health and beauty products they provide. They also featured their new system for taking and executing orders.

Representatives from Unilever, J. Strickland, Soft Sheen-Carson, Universal Products, Bic Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, LOreal Techniques as well as Concept II, E.T. Browne (Palmers Products), and many others held booths at the Carib Sales Event on February 27, featuring new product lines to sample.

Larry OMalley from J. Strickland, the makers of Blue Magic, Nadinola, Five Star, and Doo Gro said, The Carib show is one we look forward to all year long. It has tremendous opportunities for all of our brands, especially the Blue Magic Brand and now with the addition of Doo Gro we look forward to even greater shows in the future.

Originally, when customers wanted to place an order at the trade show, they would have to flip through a book that resembled a price list with no images, write down their order, and turn in the book when leaving. The post-processing of orders from the event took at least two weeks for Carib Sales to manage, with orders and POs finalized afterward.

However, at their 2013 trade show, Carib Sales introduced a new system of taking and fulfilling orders. A multiplatform website featuring shopping cart technology, all of the information for the almost 6,000 in-stock items was available to customers along with images and special deals that were valid the day of the show.

The turnaround time for processing orders was significantly reduced, taking only three days, which made it possible to finalize orders the very next day for individual customers. The turnaround for POs improved to less than a week, making it possible for vendors to start receiving their orders faster than ever before.

Alex Ceratto, the Marketing Director at Carib Sales said, The ease of use of the new electronic ordering system introduced at this years trade show, the friendly interface and ability to find any item quickly, and the addition of product pictures right on the screen made this system the best way to place and process orders. It also significantly reduces our turnaround time on processing and fulfilling orders. I believe that in time this will be the adopted standard in the industry.

Tara Coleman, the IBC Channel Manager for Unilever said, This years Carib show was great! The implementation of electronic order taking was an excellent idea; not only to streamline the ordering process, but to also advise customers and manufacturers up front of order quantities and values. No more waiting to identify show sales! She also asked Carib Sales to keep up the good work!

Original plans for the print and online campaign would traditionally call for professional models but the extraordinary results of their services prompted executives to consider a campaign that would feature just actual client models.

As the campaign is focused on real results, the SkinSpirit team was inspired by the amazing results of actual clients; it seemed only natural to take the campaign in this direction, says, Stacey Yates Sellar, Director of SkinSpirit Operations.

SkinSpirit ended up selecting 11 women and 3 men, who receive a myriad of services on a routine basis ranging from Medical Grade Facials to Intense Pulse Light, also known as photo-facial, the non-laser, precision light generator that minimizes skin discolorations associated with accumulated sun damage and age spots on the face and/or chest, to Botox

Impact Fitness Inc. How To Shed Weight Fast: 2 Workout Routines That Destroys Fat Quick

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) May 14, 2013

You can smell that summer is just around the corner. Do you want to know what you can do to lose all that weight you've gained over the winter? Impact Fitness Inc knows that if you're in this boat, you want to know how to get rid of that last layer of blob, so you can unveil that cut and sculpted body that's been hiding over the winter months. Learning how to shed weight fast involves putting together great exercise routines and of course, a diet plan that's been proven to work. In this article, we're going to focus on two proven workout routines that will shred that last bit of blubber off so you can show off your six pack abs.

So when researching for this article I wanted to go to a place where some of the best fitness experts write on a daily basis. It was a no-brainer that Men's Fitness has a lot of fitness gurus who can talk on this very subject. I found two great exercises on MensFitness.com's website that talked about exercises that can help you lose weight fast. The first one was "Interval and High Intensity Training."

1. Interval Training and High-Intensity Movies (HIIT)

Ah, good old interval and high-intensity training. Youve heard about their benefits for ages and for good reason: they work. If youre looking for a surefire way to burn fat faster and lose some pounds in the process, HIIT is a solid go-to.

We caught up with Kurt Hester, TD1 National Director of Performance, to find out why HIIT is so important and heres what he had to tell us:

High Intensity Interval Training is more time efficient in caloric expenditure than a traditional cardio workout. Not only will your body burn more calories during HIIT workouts but you will also continue to burn more calories and fat in the 24 hours after a HIIT workout. That doesnt mean you need to limit yourself to only sprint interval workouts on a treadmill, though; Go out and sprint hills, drag tires, and push or pull sleds.

Do you ever wonder why sprinters have bodies that are cut out of stone? Well it's because you're using your fast twitch muscles and this takes up more energy which will help you to burn more fat during and after the workout is done, says Lee Boyce on MF.

2. Sprint More

If you think that hitting the weights is the only thing you have to do to lose fat faster, youre wrong. You need a solid balance of weight training, cardio and diet. You need cardiovascular work to burn excess body fat, says Mike Duffy, CPT and owner of MikeDuffysPT.com. The body will burn primarily carbohydrates during the first twenty minutes of cardiovascular exercise. Right about minute twenty, the body shifts over and starts to burn stored body fat as the primary source of energy. You need a combination of both weight training and cardio to get fat off your body. Cardio alone will only train one type of muscle fiber and youll only be building one part of your fat-burning furnace. I see many people doing tons of cardio every day and not lifting weights. They never change the way they look, Duffy says.

Lee Boyce, Owner of Lee Boyce Training Systems, agrees that sprinting can be a huge benefit to fat loss.

"Sprinting, Boyce said, uses fast twitch muscles, which take more energy to utilize, and it also puts you in oxygen debt, so your body will have to play catch up after the workout is done. This also increases the rate of metabolism to tap into more fat loss during and after the workout.

So now that youve hit the weights, its time to hit the treadmill (or the road, trail, or track) as well. Ramp up your cardio, break into vigorous sprints, and just watch the fat ooze off in no time.

These two training exercises will show you how to shed weight fast and will help you get ready for the upcoming summer months. Remember these routines can't just work on their own, so make sure that your diet plan can contribute to this type of training.

The latest government statistics revealed that almost 70 percent of adults and 32 percent of school-age children are overweight or obese. A study conducted by the International Food Information Council Foundation determined that 55 percent of people want to lose weight, while findings by the market research firm NPD group found that an estimated 60 percent of adults want to shed a minimum of 20 pounds.

With the desire to achieve lasting weight loss more prominent than ever, Dietmatch.com is once again changing the landscape of dieting. Dieters no longer have to turn to traditional brick-and-mortar meetings where they struggle to find common ground with members from different walks of life. With Dietmatch.com, dieters enjoy live online meetings with people similar to themselves, along with healthy diet plans, tips to lose weight and a diverse array of online tools at their fingertips.

The social aspect of Dietmatch.com is already a proven formula for successful weight loss. A 2009 study conducted by Harvard School of Public Health, determined that participants who attended group counseling sessions lost more weight and kept it off.

Great Healthworks, Inc., Makers of Omega XL, Report on New Study

Hollywood, FL (PRWEB) June 03, 2013

A team of scientists from the University of Liverpools Institute for Aging and Chronic Disease analyzed the results of 185 studies, and their review published in the British Journal of Nutrition says Omega-3 fatty acids can prevent and even reverse junk foods damage to the brain. The discovery was a bi-product of the studys original purpose, which was to determine whether omega-3 fatty acids aid in weight loss by stimulating particular processes in the brain.

Decades of research show that eating junk food is harmful for a variety of reasons. Not only can junk food contribute to weight gain and disease, but it can also have negative effects on the brain. Specifically, research has indicated that high-fat diets trigger the production of inflammatory chemicals and triglycerides, which block important hormones from entering the brain after eating. This inflammatory condition also negatively affects molecules that stimulate neurogenesis a process that generates new nerve cells. Existing neurons are left vulnerable to damage, and the process that builds new neurons is suppressed. Over time, this can lead to visible changes in the structure of the brain.

Careful review of existing studies found that omega-3s fatty acids counteract the impact of inflammatory chemicals, and suppress triglyceridesthereby allowing the brain to accept the hormones that tell it to grow while protecting existing nerve cells.

Dr. Lucy Pickavance, one of the reviews authors, says fish oils, "may take the brakes off the detrimental effects of some of the processes triggered in the brain by high-fat dietsand including more oily fish or fish oil supplements in our diets could certainly be a positive step forward for those wanting to improve their general health."
