Gloucestershire Dentists Warn of the Acid Dangers Hidden in Water How Drinking Water can Cause Tooth Decay

cheltenham (PRWEB UK) 1 May 2013

It is widely understood that sugary food and drinks can cause dental decay. Sugar in the mouth is broken down by bacteria to create acid which is washed around the mouth by saliva. The acid can attack tooth enamel, gradually dissolving the minerals on the surface of the tooth and allowing decay and cavities to appear.

However, it is not as simple as switching from sweet drinks to water. Dental experts at ICC Implant & Ceramic Dental Studios are warning that not all water has a neutral pH. Certain brands of water have actually been shown to have a low pH, meaning that you could essentially be drinking a dilute form of acid and lowering the pH in the mouth to create an environment where teeth are more at risk of erosion.

The pH scale measures acidity/alkalinity on a scale from 0 to 14. A pH of 7 is neutral, over 7 is alkaline and less than 7 is acidic; though it is not linear, so each pH value below 7 has ten times the acidity than the number above it. Tooth enamel can erode if acidity levels fall to 5.5 pH or below; while delicate root surfaces of teeth can be damaged from 6.5 pH.

Yet as certain brands of water have been shown to have pH levels as low as 4-5, ICC Implant & Ceramic Dental Studios are warning patients to be vigilant in choosing their bottled water.

A spokesperson explained:

We are seeing patients who do not understand how their teeth have become decayed when they have avoided sweets and sugary drinks. Yet drinking water with a low pH is like drinking a dilute acid and can quickly create a climate ideal for tooth decay.

We advise patients to choose carefully what they drink and check the pH levels on bottled water in particular. Depending on the soil type, tap water is less acid than bottled in many cases.

In addition, following basic good dental care advice is vital brushing teeth twice a day, avoiding snacking and sweet drinks between meals and having regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments, so that any early signs of dental decay can be treated quickly and stop the situation deteriorating. Prevention is better and cheaper than treatment and early intervention is better than waiting as dental decay is progressive and will only worsen with time.

We also advise patients to be aware that some people are simply more generally inclined to a lower pH. Indicators of this are conditions such as skin irritations, stomach acid, infections, headaches or mouth ulcers. These people are likely to have more acidic mouth environments and are therefore especially prone to dental issues.

However, the team are keen to reassure people that it is never too late to seek treatment and they should not be embarrassed to seek attention at any stage. ICC Implant & Ceramic Dental Studios see many patients who have neglected their dental health and require significant dental restoration. They also provide high quality dental hygiene to maintain good oral care and prevent further problems.

Get Ready for the Rainy Days of Summer: Five Signs of Water Damage to Residential Roofing

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) May 28, 2013

Water can be one of the biggest and most costly sources of damage to a home. Ice, hail and wind-driven rain are destructive forces that can ravage a roof, splinter wood, and expose vulnerabilities in siding and stucco. As a professional roofing contractor and host of In the House with Ken & Jared home improvement radio show, Jared Mellick encounters extreme water damage on a regular basis. If caught early, moisture intrusion may result in the need for minimal repair. However, because the average homeowner is not prone to climbing up on the roof or frequenting his attic space, many undiscovered water leaks turn into full roof replacement jobs, which can average ten to fifteen thousand dollars.

According to Mellick, here are several signs of potential water damage that homeowners can watch for to avoid costly roof and reconstruction repairs:

hCGTreatments / Diet Doc hCG Diets and Weight Loss Plans Announces New Electrolyte Capsules, More Effective than Electrolyte Water

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 10, 2013

Diet Doc has recently unveiled new electrolyte capsules for patients and non-patients alike, more potent and more effective than electrolyte water. Sodium and potassium play an essential role in maintaining proper function of the body and its electrical system. Sodium helps the body produce electrical signals both in the brain and in the bodys cells. Electrolytes also play an important role in regulating the amount of water in the body. Electrical impulses are required by the brain, nervous system, and even muscles to function. When sodium in the body is severely decreased, cells can malfunction. Extreme highs and lows of sodium can be fatal. Diet Doc has formulated new electrolyte capsules to be more effective than widely used electrolyte water or sports drinks, which are high in calories, yet lack sufficient electrolyte content.

Potassium is also critical for normal cell function, working to regulate heartbeat and muscle movement, and is also at the core of cellular respiration. Too much or too little potassium can affect the nervous system and increase the risk for irregular heartbeat or other complications. There are a number of reasons why electrolytes may become imbalanced, including extreme exercise, vomiting, diarrhea, and fast weight loss. In order to prevent dehydration and to maintain a healthy electrolyte balance, diminishing electrolytes must be replaced. Many sports drinks or electrolyte water claim to replenish lost electrolytes; however lack the necessary amount of electrolytes needed to sufficiently affect the body. In order to provide patients with the most effective amount of electrolytes, Diet Doc developed new electrolyte replacement capsules, specifically formulated for optimal cohesion with an hCG diet, or simply for athletes looking for an effective way to replenish lost essential electrolytes.

Diet Doc experts have spent over a decade researching and developing the safest, most effective advanced prescription hCG diet plans, offering each patient a personalized diet plan that is proven to generate safe and fast weight loss. Dieters that follow the guidelines of the companys hCG diet plans will notice the loss of pounds and inches in the most stubborn and difficult to lose areas, such as the belly, underarms, hips and thighs. In a recent survey, over 97% of patients reported a loss of up to one pound per day of unwanted and unhealthy excess fat.

Prior to an extensive evaluation and physician consultation, prescription hCG treatments will be dispensed to clients to be used in conjunction with nutritionist-designed, customized hCG diet plans, each specific to every patients individual dietary and nutritional needs. hCG, a hormone that was discovered in the 1950s to produce fast weight loss, is available in injectable solution, sublingual tablets, and oral drops. Typically administered once per day, prescription hCG injectable solution is the most preferred method of delivery due to its ability to produce more consistent, safe, and fast weight loss. Diet Docs prescription hCG is refined to a simple glycoprotein and is not synthetic, it is not a metabolic steroid, a new growth hormone or a stimulant. Prescription hCG injectable solution is made from human sources and contains a natural bio-identical hormone. Diet Doc takes tremendous pride in providing Americans with the safest and most effective weight loss solutions available, and manufactures all prescription products in FDA approved pharmacies in the U.S. using the highest quality of standards.

Diet Doc has designed fast weight loss plans that utilize four phases of a ketogenic diet, which is the state in which the body begins to burn stored fat as fuel at a very rapid rate and can result in electrolyte depletion. Therefore, Diet Docs electrolyte capsules play an important role in maintaining a healthy balance, capable of effecting the body more efficiently than electrolyte water, and at a fraction of the cost. Dieters, athletes, and anyone who desires more nutritional balance can use new electrolyte capsules and experience the results immediately.

Eat more water to lose weight, says DietAssist

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 24 May 2013

DietAssist have released 6 tips to help people lose weight by eating more water rich foods.

Their advice is backed by research released in the late 1990s at Pennsylvania State University's Laboratory for the Study of Human Ingestive Behaviour, which showed that consuming more water in food can help you feel fuller and more satisfied with fewer calories.

According to DietAssist, people judge how full they are by the weight of the food they have eaten, not by its calorific value.

So rather than choosing items that offer the same amount of energy (in calories) in their regular meals, it seems that most people eat the same
