Long Island Surgeon Jon Turk Introduces Hydrafacial for Teens

(PRWEB) June 13, 2013

Facial plastic surgeon Jon Turk has introduced Hydrafacial X, a facial series designed to help clean and clear problem skin for teens.

Dr. Jon Turks plastic surgery practice has long been offering plastic surgery and cosmetic treatments to address the most frequent aesthetic concerns of his adult patients. Now Dr. Turk has introduced a new treatment that is tailored to meet the skin care needs of teenage patients. This innovative treatment, Hydrafacial X, is a three-part program that is meant to thoroughly clean oily, broken out skin.

The idea of Hydrafacial X came to Dr. Turk after his own teenage son had a HydraFacial performed at Dr. Turks plastic surgery practice. After the treatment, Dr. Turks son noted the improved appearance of his skin and wondered why most teens are willing to turn to dermatologists for skin treatment, but seem to avoid spa treatments such as facials. While topical dermatologic treatments can be effective, they can be drying to the skin and are often only successful on skin that has already been deep cleaned. Dr. Turk realized that this was a special opportunity to create a skin treatment to cleanse and refresh teenage skin. Whats more, this treatment can be performed in Dr. Turks medical offices, a more private and professional setting than a day spa. Working together, Dr. Turk and his medical aestheticians came up with Hydrafacial X, a three-part cleansing facial.

Hydrafacial X is beneficial to teens in that it addresses the most common skin problems faced by teenagers. The Hydrafacial X consists of three separate treatments, spaced two weeks apart. This facial is designed to:

Three award-winning documentary films will screen in a single block on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the 29th Annual Long Island Film Festival, being held at The Hyatt in Hauppauge, New York.

Okuyamba, the Lugandan word meaning to help, focuses on the common mission shared by a small band of palliative care nurses working tirelessly to ease the pain and suffering of AIDS and cancer patients, dying deep in the rural villages of Uganda. Filmmakers Mike Wargo and Ted Mandell take viewers deep into the forests of Uganda and offer a glimpse of the astounding challenges facing its terminally ill people. Sharing the stories of the 90 percent of the population who receive no assistance with pain or comfort during their final days, the filmmakers also capture the difference palliative care makes in the lives of those receiving it.

Released in 2012, Okuyamba has won numerous awards, including the National Hospice Foundations Inaugural Morfogen Art of Caring Award as well as awards from the Indie Fest, Best Shorts, Accolade Competition and Prestige Awards.

Beauty Supply Company, NewVo Beauty, Offers Opinion On Embracing Gray Hair In Response to The Island Packet Article

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) February 26, 2013

On February 26, Sara Greenstone from NewVo Beauty offers an opinion on an article published by the Island Packet, which discusses the ways older women feel about gray hair and how they can make the decision to embrace the color.

According to the article published on The Island Packet, gray hair is an inevitable part of life that most women have to endure. Danielle Keasling, a salon owner in Bluffton, S.C., said that out of all the women that come in looking to make the decision to stay gray, only a handful of people go through with it. In the article, Keasling said that gray hair tends to be more brittle and dull, so women usually have to cut their hair.

Theres a stigma that comes with gray hair, Greenstone said. Women think it makes them look old and over the hill. While it does show age, grey hair can actually look nice if you actually take proper care of it. It requires a lot more maintenance than natural or even colored hair. Beauty supply shops will have the necessary products to keep it looking fresh.

In the article, Keasling said that a bunch of women come to her salon with hopes of going gray. She prepares a wig for them to show what it might look like. The results are generally shocking, she said. Sometimes they envision their hair looking like Paula Deen or a model with shining silver hair. However, Keasling said thats usually not the case.

"She's airbrushed. She's 40 years old. She's a model. Her gray hair isn't what is making her beautiful," Keasling said in the article. "I help clients see what they're actually looking at."

Greenstone said there are many shampoos and conditioning treatments specific for silver hair. Schwarzkopf makes a really good silver shampoo, she said. Its a blue- violet shampoo that takes the yellow or brassiness out of the grey and adds nutrients to make it healthy and shiny.

The article revealed that while many women debate going gray, its important that each woman weigh options and fully understand what gray hair means. Greenstone said people should be aware of the upkeep and process keeping gray hair healthy before they make the definitive decision.
