From Mary: When my brother and I was small we thought it would be fun to let the hogs out of their lot! Our mom went outside to put them back up but apparently they didn't like her waving a broom at them!! They decided to chase her around the yard and when she tried to get back inside the home we locked her out with the pigs!! We figured if they ate her then they would leave us alone haha...She beat on that door for several minutes!

From Meg: Oh no, you didn't!! Oh yes I did! When I was a teenager my best friend and I would "steal' my Mom's car keys and go on a joy ride. Actually it was just around the block but we felt like Thelma and Louise. My Mom finally got tired of hiding her keys and put a master lock on the fence so we couldn't back the car out. Ha! We used tools and unbolted the hardware from the sides and rolled the car right on out, went on our little cruise and then put it back together. My Mom just KNEW her car had been out since she was monitoring the gas tank like a hawk. It drove her bonkers for years until we finally confessed!!

If you have watched online videos using any of todays popular subscription providers, here is a scenario you might find all too familiar. Youve finally carved out some quality time to relax and watch a movie with your child. As much as video streaming services might try to place movies into categories, the categories that exist just arent good enough. Coarse language might affect one child more deeply than another, just as sexual innuendos or images might stick with another. Ratings are a decent first step, but they leave most parents unsure of what to expect. Maybe scenes show just enough skin to get the point across, for a short enough time that the movie will not be rated R. Parents often end up settling for movies they dont approve of, or stop movies early realizing the rating was misleading.

Earth Day aside, dont compromise on being Clean and Green; Phosphate reduction legislation, comes into force for laundry detergent manufacturers this June

No compromise, Clean and Green are two things we take very seriously, says Louise from Distinctive Wash Ltd. Technology has been getting better and better in laundry and the industry has known for generations the negative effects of phosphates on aquatic environments. And yet it has taken the ruling of new legislation due to come into effect, to make manufacturers start to think about changing their formulas.

Phosphates are used in plant foods and lawn preparations to make them green up and grow faster, and they have that same kind of effect within a water source, causing blue green algae to flourish in local streams and ponds, starving aquatic life of oxygen.

Water treatment plants have not been able to remove phosphates easily from the dirty water going through the drainage systems. So it has taken strong legislation coming into effect to force manufacturers to start switching over to other chemical surfactants in their washing formulas to prevent such a huge quantity of phosphates getting into the water supply.

"Green formulas are no longer the poor wash relation and I'd challenge anyone to try Distinctive and think it gave substandard results on wash performance." said Louise.

On their website and within marketing material they are honest about a small chemical element within their fragrance that isnt fully biodegradable. "But we meet with the regulations," says Louise. Why Low Calorie Diets Don't Work

With spring in the air and bikini weather just around the corner, many people are hitting the gym, starting a workout plan and changing their eating habits with the hopes of losing weight for the summer. For anyone planning to follow a low calorie diet plan in order to lose weight fast, read on to find out two reasons why low calorie diet plans just don't work!

I cannot tell you how many people have emailed me saying that they followed certain popular low calorie diet plans for a few weeks only to find out that they haven't lost much weight, states Verena Martin, CCHT, SouthPark Hypnosis founder and consulting hypnotist. Feeling discouraged, they felt that weight loss is impossible and therefore, they quit the diet program altogether!

According to Martin, the number one reason why low-calorie diet plans don't work is simple. When people eat low-calorie foods, the body basically remains malnourished, and feels sick and tired at all times. Forget about exercises, the body doesn't have enough energy to complete even its regular activities. All these things happen because the metabolic rate is low!

To lose weight successfully, Martin suggests keeping these two things in mind:

1. Calories are not the enemy: Calories are not what should avoid; "good calories" are required to supply the body with the necessary nutrition and energy. When the body gets enough food, it will increase its metabolic rate, which will automatically result in weight loss!

The "bad calories" are those found junk foods. So while the body won't accumulate fat by eating 10 apples per day (even though a single apple contains almost 100 calories), it will surely get fat by eating 10 burgers!

That is the basic difference! Avoid empty calories (that is, junk foods) and embrace negative calorie foods, such as fruits and vegetables. Now negative calorie doesn't mean that there is no calorie in these foods; it only means that in order to digest themselves, these foods will force the body to burn more calories than what they provide! This results in calorie deficit which will ultimately result in weight loss.

2. Muscle building is a must: It's a fact, in order to maintain themselves, muscles burn a lot of calories. This in effect means that the more lean muscles a person has, the faster the weight loss. Eating protein-rich foods is a good way of building lean muscles; working out regularly in the gym is another. There is another yet advantage of eating protein-rich foods: the body won't feel hungry too often; as such, the possibility of overeating is almost non-existent.

"When you eat low-calorie foods, you are not able to build muscles; instead you LOSE muscles," adds Martin. "When your body doesn't have enough lean muscles, it is not able to burn fat since your metabolic rate remains at an abnormally low level. So that is one more reason why low calorie diets don't work!"

Most of these low calorie diets will only help people lose water and muscles. People believe they have actually lost several dozen pounds; when in fact, they have not lost the single most important thing that is keeping you from becoming slim: and that is FAT! Basically, in order to become fit, the body must lose the fat.
