A.J. O'Connor Associates Gets Creative at 30-Year Celebration Dinner Giving Back to Those Less Fortunate

Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

To celebrate thirty years in business, clients, colleagues and family members of HR Consulting firm, A.J. OConnor Associates (AJO) attended a client appreciation dinner last month. To mark the celebration and recognize AJOs commitment to giving back to its communities in this milestone year, AJO partnered with Caring Capital once again. Dinner guests had fun participating in two activities under the professional guidance of teaching artists from Caring Capital.

Large fleece drawstring pouches were decorated and filled with personal products contributed by a major consumer products client of AJO. These were donated to the Peoples Pantry, which continues to support the needs of 1,500 families in the Toms River area who remain in shelters or the homes of friends and family and still struggle from the impact of Hurricane Sandy.

In addition, guests embellished leaves for a large tree collage. The Tree of Life will adorn the walls at Family Service of Morris County (FSMC), where AJOs President, Andrew OConnor, serves as a member of the Board of Managers. Coincidentally, FSMC is also celebrating a milestone year in 2013.

It was important for us to find a way to celebrate our thirtieth year, while giving back to those less fortunate, observed AJO President, Andy OConnor. We heard that Peoples Pantry needed personal care products and we were very grateful to one of our clients for their immediate response to our request for help. We couldnt have done this without their support.

We were delighted to be part of this celebration, building on our relationship with Andy and his team and demonstrating how easy it is to help neighbors facing tough times, added Susie Schub, President of Caring Capital.

Pat Donahue, Executive Director of the Peoples Pantry commented, We are so grateful to A.J. OConnor Associates for making this happen. Caring Capitals Dream Pouches are not only lovely, they are filled with many items that our families desperately need, like skin cream and first aid kits. Their generous donation even included some do-it-yourself pouch kits to decorate. These will be ideal for the 8 to 12-year-olds who will be participating in our upcoming Art Therapy Program."

Patrice Picard, CEO at Family Service of Morris County, noted, The tree collage is such a beautiful gift, and brings real warmth to our building and smiles to the faces of those who stop by to study it, many of whom are facing challenges. It's also a wonderful symbol of community partnership and we are grateful to AJO for this donation.

New York Cardiovascular Associates Unveils The Top Tips for Getting a Restful Nights Sleep

New York City, NY (PRWEB) May 21, 2013

Many Americans are getting less than the recommended amount of sleep. In response, New York Cardiovascular Associates is unveiling a set of tips to help in getting a good nights sleep. Building healthy bedtime habits is one of the first steps to sleeping well.

Creating a bedtime routine can help the body know when it is time to quiet down and go to sleep. This routine should involve calming activities like reading a book, taking a warm bath, drinking herbal tea, or doing a crossword puzzle. Avoid watching TV and using the computer before bed as the light from these objects can stimulate the brain towards wakefulness. Removing the TV from the bedroom can help eliminate the temptation to watch while dozing off. Avoid coffee, black tea, carbonated beverages, and chocolate after 3pm to escape its stimulating effects.

Many more bedtime tips are being provided by New York Cardiovascular Associates. They hope that through these tips the public can gain better health through a good nights sleep. More tips can be accessed through the centers Facebook and Twitter pages.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options

Varicose veins and spider veins are extremely common in men and women. While spider veins are very small, reddish veins on the surface of the skin, varicose veins are much larger, bulging, tangled veins that may appear bluish in color. Men and women suffer from varicose veins, although women are much more likely to have them.

Today, patients have access to a number of effective varicose vein treatment options. Advancements in technology and medicine have led to the development of effective, minimally invasive treatments that produce optimal results with few side-effects or downtime. These treatments include sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation.

Atlantic Dermatology Associates Announces the Use of Sensus SRT- 100 for Radiation Therapy

Wilmington, NC (PRWEB) April 05, 2013

Atlantic Dermatology Associates, P.A., a partner of DermOne, is proud to announce that as of January 1 they have begun using the Sensus SRT -100 for radiation therapy of skin cancers.

Superficial Radiotherapy (SRT) is a low-energy radiotherapy that penetrates only a short distance below the surface of the skin. It is a highly-effective, painless, and cosmetically attractive alternative to surgery in selected cancers and patient populations. The SRT-100 is the newest and most advanced choice for superficial radiotherapy available today. It is painless and very similar to having an x-ray. There are only currently two of these machines in use throughout the state of North Carolina and approximately a hundred in use worldwide.

At Atlantic Dermatology Associates, P.A., they are seeing a tremendous influx in the amount of skin cancer. The two most common types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Skin cancer affects one out of four people in the course of their lifetime.

In the past, treatment options for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma included surgical excision, Mohs surgery, cryosurgery and electrodessication. For many years radiation therapy had not been used frequently for the treatment of skin cancers.

Radiation therapy is an extremely important tool in the fight against squamous cell and basal cell skin cancer. Patients typically come in for a series of 12 treatments of radiation therapy; three times a week for four weeks. This radiation therapy is low energy radiotherapy that penetrates a short distance below the skins surface. When radiation interacts with a cancer it alters the cancers DNA and its ability to produce. This ultimately leads to the cancer cells death.

Atlantic Dermatology Associates will often use SRT- 100 for the treatment of the areas such as nose, ears, lower legs, areas that are cosmetically important and for patients who are at high risk for surgical procedures. Atlantic Dermatology Associates still performs surgical excision as well as Mohs surgery and other forms of treatment for skin cancer.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends everyone has a skin exam at least once of year. Call the Atlantic Dermatology Associates today at 910-251-9944 to schedule an appointment.
