The Passport Program has taken flight at Progressions Salon Spa Store in Rockville. Designed exclusively for active military members, their families, and students of all ages, the program offers budget-friendly services and lifestyle events that offset stress and improve well-being.
The Passport Program is focused on self-care. It offers discounts on popular products and services, and features wellness seminars on topics such as yoga and skincare. As an added perk, members receive discounts and financial rewards by referring others to the program.
Inspired by their proximity to local military installations, Progressions sees the program as a chance to give back to soldiers and their families. Extended tours and financial worries create unbelievable stress for active duty families, said Cindy Feldman, Progressions owner. Amidst rising education costs, the program brings hair and stress-relief services to students at affordable price points. The Passport Program gives students the tools to project confidence at any age, from middle school though college, said Feldman.

Marinello Schools of Beauty a leading national brand of beauty schools in Cosmetology, Esthetics and Nail Technology education launches its 5th Annual Raw Talent Scholarship competition, providing outstanding high school seniors with remarkable talent the opportunity for an education at Marinello and the ability to pursue a dream career in the exciting and lucrative beauty industry. Marinello will award a total of 23 scholarships throughout 62 campuses. Applicants in each region will have the chance to win a $ 10,000 scholarship, $ 5,000 scholarship or three one-day professional beauty workshops valued at more than $ 1,000.
We are proud to recognize and reward talented high school seniors with an education and career in beauty through our Raw Talent Scholarship competition, said President of Marinello Schools of Beauty Dr. Nagui Elyas. To date, we have presented more than 25 students, with natural talent and true passion for the beauty industry, with scholarships and prizes totaling more than $ 150,000 and we are thrilled to do it again for the fifth year.
To enter the 5th Annual Raw Talent Scholarship competition, candidates are required to submit an essay about how they plan to make a difference in the beauty and wellness industry. The essay will be graded by Marinellos High School Scholarship Committee who will evaluate the essays based on content, creativity, spelling, syntax and grammar. The second part of the application process includes a hands-on competition, where candidates will perform hair and makeup looks on their own models at their local Marinello campus. Candidates interested in the Cosmetology program will perform formal updo hairstyles appropriate for weddings, proms, or special events, and candidates interested in the Esthetics (Skin Care) program will perform their best makeup look. The Marinello school director will take before and after photographs of all participants work and submit to the Scholarship Committee. The deadline for essay and photographs submissions is April 22, 2013 midnight Pacific Standard Time.
Scholarship winners will be announced 30 days after the competition deadline. Scholarship recipients must start at Marinello by September 2013 or they will lose eligibility for the award. The scholarship may not be transferred to any other college, university, vocational training program, or to cash. The scholarship will be awarded upon successful completion of the Marinello program that the student attends. Management reserves the right to award the scholarship in its entirety upon enrollment. The scholarship becomes null and void if the student drops or does not maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), attendance, or any other criteria that all students are responsible for meeting.
