NYC Osteopathic Specialist Introduces Epidural Injections for the Treatment of Sciatica and Lower Back Pain

(PRWEB) April 09, 2013

The lead medical practitioner at Living Well Medical, a top physical rehabilitation facility in NYC, is pleased to introduce her epidural injection therapy for the successful and long-term management of lower back pain and sciatica symptoms.

Although epidural injections are frequently thought of as a medication used by expectant women to relieve pain during delivery, that is not its only application. Epidural injections are named after the epidural space of the spine, which surrounds the spinal cord and nerve roots, and where medication is deposited. Living Well Medical's Dr. Webb utilizes fluoroscopy to precisely guide the needle into the epidural space, delivering a specialized anesthetic solution, which will reduce any existing nerve inflammation that causes pain in the lower back area.

For patients who experience the set of symptoms known as sciatica, which include lower back pain that radiates down the buttock and leg, this is a breakthrough tool in the fight against debilitating pain. Epidural injections take effect promptly after the procedure and allow the patient to comfortably engage in any necessary treatment protocols to permanently correct the problem (including physical therapy, spinal decompression, and chiropractic adjustments), which can prove difficult if pain weakens or immobilizes the patient.

The radicular pain that causes sciatica is anesthetized by epidural injections, which relieve swelling and inflammation of the impinged sciatic nerve, where the pain originates. By doing so, patients will remain pain-free and able to perform daily activities and exercises as recommended by Dr. Webb and the physical rehabilitation team at Living Well Medical. Following the procedure, patients will experience an immediate increase in comfort and mobility, and will be able to successfully carry out a treatment cycle that will correct the source of spinal imbalance that caused the sciatic nerve to become impinged. If necessary, epidural injections can be repeated throughout the course of treatment to aid in pain management until the patients condition has improved and health has been fully restored.

The procedure lasts about 10 to 15 minutes and is simple and straightforward. The patient comfortably lies down while the skin surface is sanitized and the area is topically anesthetized. With the use of fluoroscopy, an advanced X-ray based imaging technique, the needle is inserted and the solution is carefully deposited directly into the epidural space. The patient is then supervised for an additional 10 to 15 minutes to ensure the treatment was successful, and is then discharged. The medication will immediately take effect and the patient will enjoy long-lasting pain relief. The duration of the anesthetic effects of the injection will vary individually, and Dr. Webb will personally assess whether further epidural treatments will be required.

Non-surgical interventional medicine is Dr. Webbs specialty and she is elated to offer epidural injections, as well as many other procedures, to patients in NYC who suffer the incapacitating effects of sciatica and back pain and wish to remain active without the risks and downtime associated with invasive surgical procedures. Face Off: Lawyers warn against unregulated botox and filler injections

Manchester,UK (PRWEB UK) 3 May 2013

A trip to the beauty salon is supposed to be a pleasant relaxing experience in a safe, secure environment. Many people will associate a trip to the salon with simple beauty treatments, such as facials and nail treatment.

However, there is no hiding from the fact that many women now look for more invasive beauty treatments such as botox or filler injections. Some may even opt for cosmetic surgery; face lifts or implants. Clive Orton, president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, said cosmetic surgery has become a "growth industry and a public obsession" with people believing it is quick and easy.

Botulinum toxin, commonly known as botox, is a protein and neurotoxin, one of the most acutely toxic substances known and yet so many men and women will undergo botox treatment without doing any research about the substance being injected into their skin and with little knowledge of the person who is administering the treatment.

As for fillers, in the United States there are just six types of filler approved for use by professionals on prescription only. In Britain, there are over 100 types. They can all be injected without prescription by anyone, anywhere. That begs the question; what happens if something goes wrong when a person allows an inexperienced beautician with no medical training whatsoever carry out a surgical procedure on one of the most prominent parts of the body?

Largely this practice has gone unregulated making it extremely difficult for lawyers to take any legal action when a client has experienced x as a result of negligent jobs.

Fortunately new guidance by the Royal College of Surgeons is urging the Government to make rules compulsory. They say that only surgeons should provide cosmetic surgery and only doctors, dentists and nurses who have undertaken appropriate training should provide non-surgical cosmetic treatments like Botox and fillers. This will set a precedent to ensure that the standard of care given to customers is higher than it is currently. This will make it easier for lawyers to establish negligence in the event that something goes horribly wrong.

hCGTreatments / Diet Doc hCG Diets & Weight Loss Plans Announces Prescription hCG Drops with Equal Potency to hCG Injections

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 04, 2013

Diet Doc, in an effort to better accommodate each and every type of client, has developed new prescription oral hCG drops, easily administered under the tongue. Patients can now experience the benefits of fast weight loss without the pain or discomfort of injections. The company's new oral hCG drops are not homeopathic hCG, they are only available in 99.99% pure prescription hCG. These prescription diet drops should not be confused with FDA sanctioned homeopathic hCG drops, considered ineffectual and taken off the shelves. Diet Doc's pure hCG diet drops require a prescription, available nationwide after easy telephone consultation with an in-house physician. Clients across the country can contact Diet Doc and schedule a telephone or Skype meeting, after which receive a prescription for an hCG diet plan and begin losing weight almost immediately. This prescription hCG diet plan has been capable of producing fast weight loss in over 97% of clients.

In 1954, Dr. A.T.W. Simeons created the original hCG diet plan, theorizing that low doses of pure hCG could mobilize fat stores during low calorie dieting, meanwhile preventing muscle mass. hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) is produced by the placenta during pregnancy to help a womans body access her fat stores to feed the developing fetus, rather than use muscle. hCG plays a key role in the development of the embryo in utero and is commonly prescribed to treat infertility in women and delayed puberty in boys. Simeon's belief was that the hCG triggers the hypothalamus to in turn signal fat cells to release their stores of fat, especially in abnormal areas like hips, underarms, thighs, and waist. Currently, Diet Doc is the only hCG diet plan provider utilizing their updated, modernized version of the Simeons protocol. The company allows for up 1250 calories daily, eliminating the hunger and adverse side effects commonly associated with the Simeons hCG diet. Advancements in science and nutrition have allowed Diet Doc to update the original hCG weight loss protocol to allow for more caloric intake as well as alternative methods of hCG consumption, all of which make the hCG diet more compatible with anyone, yet capable of providing fast weight loss equally.

Utilizing the most modern technologies, Diet Doc produces 99.99% pure prescription hCG in more forms than ever. The product was initially available only via injection, but with increased demand from clients, the company now provides hCG in dissolvable sublingual tablets as well as sublingual drops. Prescription hCG drops are not to be confused with FDA sanctioned homeopathic hCG drops, considered ineffectual. When used in conjunction with Diet Doc's nutrition plan, hCG drops can produce fast weight loss and improve overall health by reducing the risk for weight related diseases. Homeopathic hCG drops contain no real hCG, and will not produce any results. Also, consumers have reported adverse health effects associated with FDA sanction homeopathic hCG. Diet Doc not only offers these 99.99% pure hCG diet drops, but the ever important hCG diet plan, an individualized and physician monitored nutrition plan designed to custom fit each client depending on factors like age, health, metabolism, and long term goals. The company provides true pure prescription hCG drops along with a doctor designed and monitored diet plan proven to produce fast weight loss. With the hCG drops diet, patients get the same effectiveness of hCG injections without the invasive needles. Studies reveal the newer hCG diet drops to be extremely successful in weight loss and very safe for nearly anyone.
