DietAssist responds to news that overeating could be compulsive

(PRWEB UK) 6 May 2013

Getting a grip on addiction can be incredibly hard, as anyone who has ever tried to give up smoking, alcohol or even caffeine will testify.

A tried and tested tactic is for a person to avoid the thing they are addicted to. So a person may give up going to pubs or refuse to keep cigarettes in the house.

Even with these measures, however, people often struggle and fail repeatedly.

As obesity levels continue to rise, the scientific community is starting to look for similarities between overeating and addiction.

Researchers are cautious, but some evidence suggests that obese people and drug addicts share a similar response to the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is known to be involved in addictions.

The connection has prompted the EU to fund a project called NeuroFAST to bring all the evidence together.

Paul Howard, from DietAssist, said Whilst overeating can seem as uncontrollable as a drug addiction, we dont believe the label is helpful as it encourages people to feel helpless.

In our experience, overeating is emotionally and socially driven. We teach people how to lose weight more easily by taking back conscious control of their eating habits and behaviours so that they can avoid comfort eating or mindless eating.

The DietAssist programme is the result of over 20 years experience of helping people to lose weight effectively, and uses the latest psychological techniques to avoid the self sabotage and demotivation that dieters commonly experience.

The DietAssist programme helps dieters strengthen their motivation and resolve, and creates the optimum psychological state for success. It is designed to work alongside any weight loss programme or sensible eating plan.

Compulsive Overeating Treatment Available in Two New Locations with The Hungry Heart

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 11, 2013

Hypnotherapy to lose weight has been proven to be an effective compulsive overeating approach treatment. The Hungry Heart is bringing its unique form of overeating help to new locations in Southern California. The weight loss counselors and hypnotherapists will help people learn how to stop emotionally overeating in Westwood, Los Angeles, and Mission Valley, San Diego.

The addition of these locations brings the total number of Southern California overeating help centers to 54. Since 1996, the centers have used a combination of counseling and hypnotherapy to lose weight.

At every location, clients learn how to stop overeating from a weight loss counselor who has overcome their own troubles with binge eating, yo-yo dieting, compulsive overeating, and other issues with food. Weight loss counseling occurs face-to-face, and via phone or Skype. The program was developed over a number of years after the founder, Lauren Grant, struggled with her own problems with emotional eating. Through her struggles, she developed the Hungry Heart program that combines counseling with hypnotherapy weight loss.

The Hungry Heart focuses on giving clients the tools to naturally lose weight and heal their relationships with food. The new locations facilities expand their ability to offer binge eating support, compulsive overeating treatment, and weight loss counseling to even more people. The new offices facilities also offer the opportunity to work with nutritionists, daily affirmations, and emotional overeating group support. The two new locations open on June 15, 2013.

About Hungry Heart: The Hungry Heart program combines behavioral and nutritional counseling with hypnosis to reinforce new behaviors and thought patterns. Hungry Heart work with clients as a team to create changes in eating habits; providing a caring approach to out of control eating.
