Wellness Firm Aids Owners in Determining Proper Pet Nutrition

Bakersfield, California (PRWEB) November 20, 2012

With many pet owners unable to afford proper veterinary care, California health and wellness retailer Spirit Detox (http://www.spiritdetox.com) is aiding owners in determining proper nutrition for their beloved animals.

"Many veterinarians and animal specialists correlate poor pet food quality to an increase in the preponderance of genetic illness, weak offspring, pet skin conditions, and pet allergies, Spirit Detox owner Albert Milligan states, adding that many of these conditions equate to costly vet bills.

The group also points out that most commercially packaged pet food often includes artificial ingredients in highly dangerous levels. For example, studies have linked top ingredients in most dry pet foods phosphoric acid, glyceryl monostearate and propylene glycol to cancer causing properties.

Much of the ingredients in prepackaged pet foods contain the remnants of crops and meats exposed to pesticides, herbicides, genetically modified ingredients and synthetic hormones, which may or may not provide adequate nutrition for optimal pet health, says Milligan. By finding a pet food that contains as many natural ingredients as possible, many health problems can be eliminated in these animals.

Pet owners, Spirit Detox concludes, can easily tell if their cat or dog is suffering from poor nutrition or a reaction to elements of their food. Examples of possible symptoms include incessant itching (not due to fleas or other parasites), hair loss, vomiting, gas, loose stools, and/or constant licking.

Spirit Detox goes on to state that supplementation can greatly help keep animals healthy, as well.

To help pet owners decide on a pet supplement they can trust, Spirit Detox also offers their own line of organic pet supplementation products. Nutra-min for Pets is available in 2-pound, 4-pound, and 8-pound packages. The mixture contains a pet grade dose of living clay, known to benefit both humans and animals alike. The product is safe for dogs, cats, horses, and birds.

Spirit Detox is dedicated to emotional and physical wellness, with a commitment using all-natural healing and enhancing products to promote the health and wellness of people, without damaging the earth or its creatures. Their line of products includes natural detoxing products for people and animals at fair prices. To learn more visit http://www.spiritdetox.com.

Hidden Hearing Respond to Research that Reveals the Firm Molecular Handshake Needed for Hearing

(PRWEB UK) 30 November 2012

Researchers from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University in the US have mapped the precise 3-D atomic structure of a thin protein filament that is vital for cells in the inner ear as well as calculating the force needed to pull it apart.

First published in the journal, Nature, the study revealed characteristics of the most vulnerable area of structure called the tip link. Tip links are vital to hair cells which in turn are vital for hearing and balance. Tip links are strings of protein that physically connect the cilia of hairs found on these cells, but a mutation in proteins can result in congenital deafness.

These new findings will provide an understanding of how noise can break a tip link and potentially cause a hearing problem as well as opening opportunities for research into noise-induced hearing loss.

A spokesperson from Hidden Hearing said:

New research into the biology of the ear and the causes of certain hearing loss is important for the development of treatment for hearing impairment. This opens up further opportunity for new insight into hearing loss and hopefully further treatment for deafness.

With more than 40 years experience in treating hearing loss, Hidden Hearing is entrusted with the care of more than 100,000 people each year. The firm has 84 hearing centres across the UK, all catering for a range of needs and budgets. Specialising in hearing tests and hearing aids, the company also offer a variety of hearing aid accessories and in 2005, became the first dedicated hearing retailer to be recognised as an Investor in People.

The National Mesothelioma Law Firm of Baron and Budd Reports on a New Drug that Could Improve the Health of Mesothelioma Patients

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) December 17, 2012

The national mesothelioma law firm of Baron and Budd reports that a new experimental drug may help limit the negative side affects associated with mesothelioma treatment. Dr. Adrian Dobs, Professor of Medicine and Oncology and Vice Chair of Medicine at John Hopkins University headed the clinical trial for the drug, Enobosarm, and discovered that male and female cancer patients had significant improvement in muscle mass and power after taking the drug. The firm, dedicated to protecting the rights of mesothelioma patients, is always glad to support and raise awareness about advancements in mesothelioma treatment and care.

"This is another step forward in the medical battle against mesothelioma," said John Langdoc, mesothelioma lawyer at Baron and Budd. "Patients and caregivers need to be aware of these newer developments and we are proud to assist in the awareness process."

Currently, mesothelioma doctors typically use a multi-modal approach of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatment. The combination of treatments is quite aggressive, and can lead to adverse side affects such as nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Researchers recently gave the experimental drug Enobosarm, to patients receiving these cancer treatments and reported a significant decrease in muscle loss.

In the Phase IIb clinical trial, Dr. Dobs led a randomized test with 159 subjects given either Enobosarm or a placebo for a total of 16 weeks. Enobosarm is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), a non-steroidal drug that produces the anabolic effect in bone and muscle without causing the negative prostate effects in men or hair growth in women that is associated with steroidal treatment.

According to Dr. Dobs, Phase III of the trial will assess the effects of a 3mg/day dosage of Enobosarm for the prevention and treatment of muscle wasting in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.

The usage of a drug like Enobosarm could greatly aid in the health of mesothelioma patients when receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

The national mesothelioma law firm of Baron and Budd has been dedicated to the development of mesothelioma research and treatment and is excited to report on the improvement in medications for mesothelioma patients. The firm is proud of its work with organizations like the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and Cure Media Group as well as several others, and it committed to relating any relevant information to the people affected by mesothelioma.

For more information about Enobosarm and the clinical trials at John Hopkins University Medical Center, read the more about the study in "Prevalence and Impact of Hypogonadism in Cancer Patients with Muscle Wasting in a Phase IIb Enobosarm Trial," published June 24, 2012.
